GREAT beginner bot or secondary bot. Single brush!

The Roomba 105 Combo is a good robot vacuum and mop. It’s compact, fits under most furniture, and the setup is super easy—just follow the app prompts, let it map your rooms, and you’re good to go except when you need to empty it every few days. The AutoEmpty dock is not included with this model, and it’s kinda missed. I’m also not a fan of the new top disc design—it just doesn’t look as nice as the older Roombas. Fortunately, the addition seems to benefit the navigation. Cleaning Performance Cleaning power is solid for everyday dust, dirt, and pet hair. It seems to have similar suction as the older models, and the brush does a decent job on hard floors and low-pile rugs. But honestly, I’m skeptical about the single brush roller. The older dual rubber rollers (like on the j7+) always felt more effective, especially for pet hair and avoiding tangles. Edge cleaning is just okay—you’ll still need to hit the corners yourself sometimes. Noise is another thing I noticed. This model is definitely louder than my old j7 robots. Not a dealbreaker, but if you’re sensitive to noise, just know it’s not exactly quiet. Navigation is good for the price—it maps rooms quickly and cleans in rows, even in the dark. The mopping feature is basic. It drags a damp pad over the floor, which is fine for light dust but not for sticky messes. It does avoid carpets when mopping, but sometimes it’s a little too cautious and skips spots near rugs. This model doesn’t seem to work with dedicated mop bots like the m6. I havent figured out if there’s a hack to do double mop with an m6, which I’d love after I’ve thrown a party. Everyday Use This robot is great for keeping up with daily dust and crumbs, especially if you run it every day or two. The app makes it easy to start a cleaning, set schedules, or create no-go zones. You’ll need to refill the mop water tank manually pretty much every time you set it on a mission so keep an eye on it if you mop a lot. Downsides -Single brush roller isn’t as quiet and gentle as the old dual rubber rollers. -Louder than previous j7+ models. -Top disc design isn’t as nice looking. -Edge cleaning is just okay. -Mopping is minimal—good for dust, not real messes. -doesn't seem to be as smart at avoiding cords or small stuff as my j7 bots Bottom Line The Roomba 105 Combo is a practical, budget-friendly robot for daily upkeep. It’s easy to use and keeps floors looking decent. This is a GREAT first bot or secondary bot. You can probably get a dock separately once you buy into the iRobot system. I do RECOMMEND this bot as a great value. If you have iRobot already, this would be good to replace one of the 700 or earlier bots. If you have an i3-i9 bot or you're using an m6 with your bot, I think you should go for one of the higher level bots since this alone won't do as well as your bot combo.

    It’s a nifty time-saving little machine

_____ *Pros: -Easy to set up and use. -Great at vacuuming dog hair and dirt. -The mop works well even with plain water. -The app is intuitively laid out and functions are easy to find and execute. -Replacement parts are priced reasonably. _____ *Neutral: -Only the deep-clean mop option does a good job on our kitchen floor. -Only 2 mop pads included in the box. -The vacuum storage bin is a bit small and messy to empty. _____ *Cons: -None **** My Take **** The iRobot Rooma 105 Combo is my third cleaning robot and the first one to actually impress me with its performance and easy usability. The setup process was quick and simple – download the app, find the Roomba and connect it to the home network, create maps of the rooms I want to clean, then tell it to go clean. The mapping process was pretty accurate, and the outlines of the living spaces the robot created were almost 100% spot-on. I decided to have it focus only on the kitchen and the living room since they aren’t as high-traffic as our bedrooms and they have less clutter and obstacles. Our kitchen is a messy area that requires daily mopping due to frequent messes from our dogs, the cooking, washing dishes, etc. To my delight and surprise, the Roomba 105’s mopping performance was almost as good as a human doing it with a floor mop. For perspective, my wife says cleaning the kitchen floor with the Tineco Go H20 floor washer results in 100% cleanness. Her cleaning the kitchen floor with a floor mop, she says, results in 80% cleanness, and the Roomba 105 is at 75% cleanness level. In other words, she’s only 5% better than the Roomba 105 when it comes to mopping. That’s not bad for a little robot that saves me sweat and time from having to do the labor myself. The cleaning performance can be improved further if you use a cleaning solution instead of just water – just be sure to buy the authentic iRobot one or the warranty can be voided. I wish there were at least three mopping pads in the box but two is what I got. The replacement mop pads, fortunately, aren’t too expensive and feel priced fairly. When it comes to vacuuming, it also surprised me with its strong suction and excellent ability to pick up our Goldador’s tremendous amount of hair. I wish the dustbin was bigger though and there was an easier way to empty it to avoid getting my fingers and hands dirty during the process. If you don’t like emptying the small dustbin manually and frequently, then you’ll have to buy the more expensive models that come with the auto-empty function, which is probably worth it. All in all, I’m quite happy with this little machine that can both vacuum and mop. It vacuums up dog hair very well, and the mop function does a great job keeping our kitchen floor clean. For the two Benjamins it’s currently selling for, I think the Roomba 105 Combo is definitely worth the coin. 4.5 Stars.

    Great For The Price

Have you ever heard these words? ”Clean up your mess. You don't have a maid.” Then I'm gonna assume that you were once a child who wished they had a robot to clean said mess. I know. I know. “How did you know?” I get that a lot. But that's neither here nor there. You're here for the title character. The Roomba iRobot 105. What's In The Box Simply put. You get the 105,a charging dock, and an extra mop pad. Very simple. This package is only 10.5 lbs and super easy to put together and get going. If this is your first time. You'll need to leave the mop pad off while it maps your place. That's where it gets exciting. 105(Let's call it “Floe”(Call him/ her whatcha want.) is going to nap your area in no time, after a firmware update, of course. If you've got anything light on the floor, it may topple, as this is a powerful little dirt devil. Once it learns your place, it will learn to go around things as well. After the mapping, making your rooms is a neat feature, just to make it feel more like family. And you can schedule it to clean(mop, vacuum or both) As many days a week as you'd like. There are voice commands so you can treat it as sentient. And after every cleaning, you can change the mop water reservoir and use the small added brush to clean the filter and dirt crate. It's a very easy to use machine and it's very affordable. And it's small enough to dock beneath furniture to keep it from being stepped on by kids or chewed up by the pets. The only issue I have is the fact it does require manual cleaning, but for the price, this can be looked over. If you've used more expensive robots in the past, this one will remind you why you paid what you did for them. And you may be left wanting more. But if this is your first venture into having your own maid. This will prove to be a life changer. Barring the minor cleanup issue, I believe that this is a solid little addition to a small home. Or even an extra upstairs unit. Just remember to keep your floors cleaned. “You weren't raised in a barn.”

Vac & mop in 1 pass, but short runtime

This is my second Roomba robot cleaner in as many years, though it is my first from this brand that can employ a wet mop while vacuuming. This mid-tier robot vacuum does not have a self-emptying station but is a step up over the basic vacuum robot as it uses laser radar guidance (LiDAR) to create a map of your spaces, determine its location, and avoid obstacles. It has the usual drop sensors on the bottom, as well as front bumper with a low activation threshold, so it’ll redirect after only a gentle tap preventing scrapes and scratches to the unit itself and furniture or walls. The water tank is built right into the removable dust bin at the back and holds a little over 1 cup of water or cleaning solution. The mop pads install via Velcro onto a plastic bracket that snaps into the bottom of the tank and can be removed when not in use. I like that the station has a really small footprint, as the charging contacts have been moved to the backside of the robot, rather than underneath, since this eliminates the need for a pad under the robot. The brick on the AC adapter is oriented vertically which I found to be a space saver that makes it fit better on power strips with horizontally adjacent outlets. The station only requires 1.5 ft clearance to its sides, 5 ft in front, and should be placed by an outlet at least 5 ft away from stairs and drop off points. Setup is fairly straightforward. After selecting a suitable spot for the charging station, download and install the Roomba Home app to a mobile device, and create or log into an account; note that this model is not compatible with the iRobot Home (Classic) app. In the app you’ll map your space which takes only a few minutes depending on the size of your rooms. The LiDAR navigation successfully detected walls, furniture, and other large objects in my open floor plan space. The robot crossed over ¼” room transition thresholds with ease as well as a rigid cord cover, although it had trouble sensing very thin furniture legs, like those on my kitchen chairs and studiolight tripods. Just be cautious with lightweight furniture that has tall, narrow legs because it can bump these with enough force to move them around or knock them over. You will also have to remember to keep any cords and cables out-of-reach as these can get tangled in or dragged by the wheels and main roller. The LiDAR is able to detect rugs and carpet automatically, so it can avoid mopping over them; however, I didn’t have any in the rooms where I’m using it. The app will take its best guess at how your rooms are divided, though you can merge or spilt rooms after the fact, add no-go or no-mop zones, and assign clean zones for areas that regularly require extra or special attention. The only frustration I had with the app is when placing these zones, you cannot drag the map to reposition it (only zoom in and out with a fixed center), so be sure to center the map over your target area before selecting which type of zone to add. You can also add up to 2 additional maps for different areas or floors in your home. Settings can be customized for each space like vacuum, mop, or both, number of passes, suction power, and liquid amount when mopping. Sticky or dried on messes can be tackled by a special setting called “Smart Scrub,” so you won’t have to run multiple passes over it. Cleaning can be initiated on a one-off basis from the app, by pressing the power button on the robot, via voice command with an AI smart home assistant, or simply removing it from the charging station. Alternatively, you can set the robot to clean selected areas on a schedule at specific days and times, or spot clean by marking it on the map or physically placing the robot, if there’s a spill in a particular area. One oddity is the time selector when creating a schedule, as the hour selector for the time is two concentric circles of military hours, 0-23, which I didn't find very user friendly. During cleaning, you can track the live location of the robot on the map in the app, see which areas it has already cleaned and the path that it took. However, I did find that oftentimes the live map and history had trouble loading, specifically during and after a mid-session charge up, as afterward I would always get a constantly spinning loading circle. When mopping, the robot leaves a slightly damp trail behind as it cleans, but even at the highest liquid level, I found that it dries quickly and is completely dry after only a few minutes. From a fully depleted state the battery takes about 5 hours to fully charge. When set to max suction and mop liquid, the battery doesn’t last long enough to complete our 400 sq ft map in one run. Oddly, the robot usually stops cleaning and returns to the station due to “low battery” after an hour, even though it sometimes has as much as 33% battery remaining, according to the app. It also resumes cleaning after only 90 minutes of charging (~20% charge gained) while announcing “charging complete” which seems inefficient as it only runs for another 20 minutes before returning to the base for low battery again. This results in the unit cleaning in multiple short intervals to finish the entire map rather than over one or two longer runs. The other issue I ran into is that the water tank doesn’t hold enough water for mopping at maximum dispensed liquid to finish my entire map. The unit doesn’t automatically pause or notify you when the water tank is empty, and if I try to fill the tank by removing it from the charging station during a charging break, it resets the cleaning cycle and starts a new run from scratch instead of continuing from where it left off. Instead, you have to pause the machine while it is running, remove and refill the water tank, then resume cleaning so that it’ll finish out its current run. As for cleaning power, the vacuum and mop performance are great. The unit is a bit loud when run at max suction, but this will provide the cleanest results at the expense of shorter run times. The robot always picks up a lot of dust, hair, and debris even when our floors look pretty clean. As with most robot vacuums that require manual emptying, dumping out the dust bin can be a little messy. However, the bin can be rinsed off in the sink and other components are also removable for cleaning, maintenance, or replacement, like the HEPA filter, roller brush, and side sweeper. After mopping, remember to empty the tank and wash/dry the mop pad to avoid issues with mold and mildew. I appreciate that there are two microfiber mopping pads included as they are meant to be replaced after 30 washes. Overall, I like this combo robot vac mop for maintaining a consistent baseline of cleanliness of our hard flooring. It’s nice to be able to perform additional cleanings when needed either using the app or Alexa voice commands, which even allow you to specify the room to clean. Of course, if you want to utilize the mopping feature, you have to do a little advance planning and babysit the unit during operation in case the tank goes dry; if your space is large, you may need to fill the water tank several times, and you’ll lose the ability to view the map progress if the unit goes back to charge mid-mission. It could also take multiple charge and resume cycles to finish a large map.
