Customers are saying
Customers have good things to say about the Roomba 650's cleaning performance, ease of use, pet hair removal capabilities, and battery life. Many appreciate its scheduling feature and its ability to pick up dirt effectively. However, some customers point out that the navigation could be improved, and the noise level is sometimes a concern. The small dustbin size and occasional docking issues are also mentioned as drawbacks.

Love it!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I got this for Christmas and I love it. We have a German Shepherd and I will admit that I didn't vacuum near enough, but with the Roomba I turn it on and let it go. I called it "strong willed" because it can be very persistent about trying to get somewhere you don't want it to go. I have an end table and chair that have several cords running underneath them. I set up barriers so "she" doesn't go under there, but it is amazing how sometimes she pushes them out of the way or is able to get over them. It works great on carpet. I have had several people ask me that, so I wanted to make sure I mentioned that. It also helps me keep my house picked up because she will turn around whenever she bumps into something, so I want to keep the room clear. I have not used the program feature, I just run it while I am getting ready for work in the morning. It usually runs for about 45 minutes and then finds it's way back to the base. It does come with one virtual wall. I use that occasionally if I feel it keeps returning to a particular room too often and I want her to spend her time in another room.

So Far, No Good
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I went to charge this for the first time and got a "Charging Error 1" message. iRobot's customer service was pretty good, they think it is a faulty battery and are sending a new one. Hopefully that'll fix the problem (but, with a $400 vacuum....there shouldn't be a problem).

Not worth the hype!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is an over-priced vacuum cleaner that does not live up to the hype. It does not clean one room completely before going to another room. It misses spots and is very noisy for the price. Do not waste your money....buy a Dyson instead.

Amazing!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Best thing I ever got (besides my wife.) We have a few big, round rugs but mostly hard wood. Also, we have 3 dogs in and a cat. I used to wade through pet hair. With the Rooma, I time it to go off daily when we leave for work. NO HAIR AT ALL ON FLOORS! It has a cool, edge sweeper that channels dust/dirt/hair in the pick-up, so it covers more area then you think (actually MORE of a sweep then an upright.) The only problem I had is once my new puppy poo'd on the floor and, well, you guessed it, the Roomba found it!

Let the Robots do the Work
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My home is mostly hard surfaces, so I can't speak to how well the Roomba would handle carpet. I can say that it'll go over any rug I have in the house, so that is a plus. Overall I'm very happy with the 650. because of the configuration of my house, I cannot exactly just set and forget the Roomba by running it on the schedule. It does tend to wander away from the home base and die somewhere else in the house. I haven't tried moving the home base yet, but I suspect I would have better results in other parts of the house. Where the 650 really shines is when you lock it in a specific room and let it work it's magic. Usually a few times a week, I'll lock it in the different bedrooms. It does a great job when its confined to a smaller place. If you just let it roam throughout the house, it'll get a good bit, but not quite 100%. This particular model came with the invisible fence which is handy for confining it to rooms without doors (hall way). You could also just put something it its way that is to heavy for it to move. I never knew how dusty my floors were until I got this thing. I do have a dog and a ragdoll cat that sheds a fur coat's worth of hair on a regular basis. The Roomba manages to come back with a halfway full bin every time. The first few times the bin was packed full as it managed under the beds and behind the couch. I gotta say, this has been one of my better tech purchases since I can put this one to work! Now, if they'd only come up with one that can do the laundry....

Taking lazy to a new level!!!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I ALMOST purchased a less expensive brand (name brand, mind you), but based on reviews, chose the leader in robotic vacuums. Am I glad I did! Let me first say that this is only day 2 of using the iRobot 650. It's fascinating to watch it do it's thing. I had to empty the collection bin twice during its first use, then when it finished. I followed behind it with my Dyson upright to see how well it did. Minimal collection in the upright. This tells me the 650 is doing a great job. I have since placed it in program mode, and today being the fist day of program, it started as scheduled but got stuck on a track jacket my daughter left in her room. I returned home, discovered it wasn't in its base, located it and cleared the obstruction and it finished the job and returned to its charging base. Even after only 24 hours, the collection bin was again full. I will continue on a daily cleaning until the collection bin isn't full. My daughter has rather long hair and it seems I need to give my upright a "haircut" after several uses because somehow her hair gets all over the floor. So far, no issues with the 650 needing hair maintenance. The 650 makes transitions from carpet to ceramic tile effortlessly. Also goes under beds and other furniture if it has the means. I have a rocking recliner and it will actually push the recliner to get underneath it. It will sense anything that it sucks that it shouldn't, such as shoelaces (I tried to keep them out of the way) and will reverse the brushes so they don't tangle. If it's not already obvious, I am greatly impressed with this appliance. If I have some extra cash soon enough, I will buy one for my mother! Given the choice of this or an upright at the same price point, I would take this any day of the week!

Impressed at the amount it picks up
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Just purchased Roomba yesterday and let it charge overnight. I pushed 'clean' and watched it go to work. I admit I followed it around the entire 30 minutes that I let it run. It stayed in my kitchen and breakfast room for 20 of the 30 minutes, finally finding its way into the living room. It seemed to find trouble spots - like the corner of the breakfast nook next to a chair. It would bump, bump, bump itself to turn around and head under the table, only to head right back to that same corner. I found myself talking to it to 'get outta there and go somewhere else'. Needless to say that area is the cleanest part of the room. It instinctively knows when it's about to approach a wall and it slows down and barely touches the wall, however, it does not approach chair or table legs that way. It bumps into them and then readjusts. It seems to find a favorite leg and it will circle around and around 3 or 4 times and then move along to somewhere else. I was impressed with the amount of dust and carpet fuzz it picked up. The bin was packed full when I opened it. I tried it again this afternoon in the master bedroom and shut the door so it would not leave. It again seems to find some trouble spots - the back corner of the bed post and the wall. It really liked that spot and went there frequently. I wonder if the lack of light has anything to do with it. It did seem to do better with bumping into things in the kitchen with the light on. I let it run for 15 minutes and again, very impressed with the amount of carpet fuzz - but that makes me wonder if it's damaging the carpet fibers with the brush. I'll revisit that theory at a later time. The first time I used it I pressed the dock button and let it find its way back, however it had a hard time. I think because our recliner is next to the docking station and it didn't seem to get a good read on where its home was. I picked it up, set it right in front of the station and it went home like a good boy. I did the same for the second use. I think I might need to move the docking station. I haven't decided if I'm keeping Roomba. I have 15 days. I'm having a hard time with its randomness. That was one of the things that I found attractive with Roomba's biggest competition - Neato. I know the kind of person I am and I think I would be less 'anxious' about the process if it was more methodical with the pattern. I don't know - I'm going to try to be open-minded for the next week or so. By the way, noise level is perfectly acceptable. Much quieter than folks have made it out to be. And my cats are not afraid - mostly curious. One follows it around, the other stays outta its way but watches it.

Makes housecleaning a lot easier
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The iRobot is great for those in between cleanings - you know, until you have a day off and can actually afford to spend time running an old fashioned vacuum around the house. This thing does a great job keeping your main living area clean. And it's simple to use too - just schedule it ahead of time and off to work you go. It does all the vacuuming for you while you are hard at work. Or you can just push a button and let it run while you sit in your PJ's and surf the net. Either way, this thing is a great tool to have and will make life a lot easier for you. And, in the end, isn't that what we all want?

Pretty Reasonable
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. There is no carpet in our house, with 3 dogs, 2 cats, one toddler, and a baby on the way, it was becoming obvious that more time needed to be invested in cleaning our floors. My wife agreed to let me buy the 650. The first day, we watched it vacuum, it seemed to like getting stuck between our chairs, table, and wall. I swear it cleaned under our kitchen table at least 5 times for 10 minutes each. Then it got stuck in our half bathroom a few times. I finally stopped it, cleaned it out and programmed it to start at 12PM every weekday. On day 2 I came home to find it stuck in the nursery. It got lodged on one of my sons toys and cut off. I turned it back on and let it go to work for a little bit then sent it home and cleaned it out On day 3 I shut the nursery door and came home to find it docked, with a full bin, and cleaned it out. It would be nice to know how long it ran for and what areas it cleaned before going back to the dock. I like that it cleans under the furniture, but it will not get under the master bed (the sensor is too high). I am thinking about replacing it with the 980, the 980 says it is 3" high, vs. 3.63" for the 650. It seems like it should be smarter and "learn" where the walls and furniture are instead of repeatedly banging itself against the wall.

first robot vacuum- impressed
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this for my mother who has an indoor German Shepherd. After reading other reviews, I figured it would do alright. After seeing how much hair and dirt it is picking up, I'm impressed with it. The vacuum does bump into things quite a bit but doesn't hit them hard enough to do any harm. So far so good with it. Can't wait to see how well it can keep up with the dog in future.

Great Product!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have had this for 3 days now. I set it up to run every day at 5 PM. I come home at night to a tray full of pet hair and dust. It really helps me out as the hair was driving me insane and I was tired of cleaning the floors daily. It does a great job.

Great purchase!!!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I LOVE my Roomba! My husband bought it for me this past Christmas, and it was, by far, the best gift ever. We have 3 dogs in the house, and they shed like crazy, but the Roomba makes it so easy to keep the floors swept. I've got it set on a schedule to vacuum every Monday, Wednesday and Friday @ 1pm, so I'm able to come home with a clean floor. We work 60+ hours a week, so the Roomba takes a lot of stress off of our backs. It sometimes get stuck on our area rug (where it is thicker and hasn't been walked on as much), but other than that, it does a great job. When I come home after a 24 hour shift, and I see it has done its job and has docked, I just want to praise it!! We purchased the 650 model, and it does just the trick. If anyone is considering buying one, and has indoor pets, this is most definitely a great buy!!

Quite happy, very very noisy though
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is as noisy as a standard vacuum which is fine, but not quite what was expected. It does gather lots of dust and dirt. I hope the refine sensors to avoid objects that are too large cannot be sucked in. overall it's still a useful product. doesn't not come cheap though.
