This Thing Really Sucks! Beats Upright Vac.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.House: 1,800 sq/ft, + 700 sq/ft garage apt. with hardwood and tile floors & 2 large area rugs. Two adults, one cat (mostly outside) and an old inactive short haired Dachshund. We live on a sand hill. Total cleaning time to date is 70 hours, 24,100 total sq/ft cleaned to date, typical run time is 1.5 hr. Two of my wife's friends recommended the Roomba. I wasn't impressed when I saw the Roomba 960. It is mostly plastic construction and the rubber like rollers don't look like they would pick up much dirt. I bought it mostly to humor my wife. My first impression was way off. My floor cleaning routine was to use a Swiffer dry mop around the edges of the room followed by the Bissell 1543 vacuum & steam cleaner. I vacuum the area rugs with an Orkeck. Now I do the manual cleaning once every two weeks and use the Roomba every other day. It is amazing how much lint, hair and fine dust the Roomba picks up. It picks up stuff when the floors look clean. It does a much better job on the area rugs than the upright vacuum! The Roomba has only gotten stuck a couple of times. I move a few chairs and other potential obstacles before cleaning to allow access to areas that might not be accessible otherwise. The Roomba sometimes generates an error when trying to spot treat a large black section of the area rug. Other than that, it has worked flawlessly. The cleaning algorithme doesn't appear to be designed for maximum efficiency. It appears clean almost randomly and uses the sensors to detect stationary objects. When it encounters a stationary object, it changes direction. That means that it may miss a few areas on each cleaning and the run time is longer than if the Roomba were smarter, but if you run it often it will clean areas that were missed on the previous cleaning. All in all the Roomba 960 isn't perfect, but I believe that is was a good investment and does a better job on the low pile are rugs than a conventional vacuum. It seems to be especially effective in picking up lint and pet hair.

Pleasantly surprised
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was very skeptical at first. We have 2 kids, 2 dogs, 4 cats and our house is 80% carpet. Against my better judgment I let my wife talk me into this Roomba 980. It’s been running daily While we are at work For a week. And I couldn’t be happier. If I would have known how well it actually vacuumed I would have probaby bought the i7 that self empties. It’s so nice coming home to vacuumed floors every day. It will help to do a good vacuum before letting it run. The first time it did the while house I had to empty it 3 times. But now that it’s running daily and keeping up with the pet hair it can do the whole job without filling up. Our 980 cleans about 800sqft/day. And usually needs to charge once while cleaning. Only the 800/900/i7 can redock, charge and resume a cleaning job automatically. Do unless you are only running it < 500sqft you will want this feature. The main take always for me. It works well on thick plush carpet. It transitions well between tile and bath rugs It works great on pet hair Navigation is accurate and efficient

great investment
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Finally bought this roomba after researching all available robot vacs. I was hesitant for awile because I thought why spend the money when i could just get off my butt and vacum myself. well, after using it now for several days can only say it was one of the best purchases i have made in a long time. for one, it gets to locations i could not with a normal vacum, such as under a bed or furniture. It vacums as well, if not better, than my upright shark vacum. I have a 5000 sq ft. home and it has done a killer job. I never realized how much debris was under beds, etc. until I emptied the bin of the roomba. It did my 1800 sq. foot basement in about 3 hours. it returned to base to recharge after about 1 hour, but was zero effort on my part. it is extremly easy to move from location to location. just let it go and forget. battery length depends on type of flooring. it has gotten stuck a few times where clearance under furniture was low, but not a big deal over all. all in all, I am very happy with this purchase.

Every Mom or Mom to be NEEDS This!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I'm the proud owner of 2 giant white Great Pyrenees dogs and 2 cats. With that, comes the never ending cycle of vacuuming their hair up off my hardwood and tile floors, as well as rugs. As a wedding present, I was given both a heavy duty Dyson vacuum and a hand held Dyson vacuum for smaller pick up jobs. Thanks to my 4 fur babies, I was vacuuming at least once a day, if not morning AND night. The tumbleweeds of white fur and cat dander were everywhere, as well as the dirt and grass they tracked in from outside playtime. Fast forward to now, and I'm 7 months pregnant. I can't be vacuuming everyday... it's exhausting. This Roomba is a GOD SEND! My floors look like I don't have dogs or cats! I set it to clean 2x a day on the mobile app and VOILA! (I can even instruct Alexa to tell it to clean for me) I come home from work to clean floors and I go to bed while it vacuums for me. DO YOURSELF A FAVOR AND TREAT YOSELF! I did some research prior to purchase, and it's the best one of the series. Seriously, do it.

Best out of 3!!!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We purchased several robots based upon reviews but they never seemed to be performing the way we wanted. We tried NEA%%& and one from SA&^%$^&* all on sale in the $600 dollar on sale range. This has performed the best by far. Battery lasts a long time and it always has found it's way back home! None of the other seemed to find their way back to charging station all the time. All 3 vacuumed great. This one vacuums great and has the ability to provide a map of what is cleaned and variations on double pass cleaning or just one pass cleaning. We have a large one story home this Roomba 960 has performed fantastic. Also other brands had more expensive filters and maintenance cost compared to the Roomba. Other so called professional reviews did not have accurate information on the Roomba and had higher ratings on other we purchased that didn't seem correct or more biased.

My Roomba960 Romance
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Gobsmacked! I've had a carpet beetle situation going on for over 45days now and exterminator in twice. Think it's finally over but vacuuming daily is key. So used a lot of reward points and she arrived! Easy peasy set-up, instructions. Set up app & named her Cendrillon. Have not been this pleased with an electrical gizmo since....well a long time! Watched my little French robot-maid navigate an oddly laid out apartment with aplomb. The pure joy that arose in my loins as it vacuumed under my bed!! Does a great job and not really that loud at all, like a small blow dryer sound. Totally worth the money to know the rugs and wood floors are really nook and cranny clean. Beetle mania over, larvae begone! Oh yes, if you have any furbabies it's a must!

So Much Better Than I Imagined
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My wife and I have been thinking about a Roomba for a while now. 3 of the 4 people in our family have allergies, so we needed a vacuum with a Hepa filter so it was a decision between the 800 series and the 900 series. We chose the 960 because of the methodical vacuum patterns, the edging feature, the app integration and the ability to finish the job after it charges. Pros: -Logical cleaning pattern -Edge mode -Recharge and finish the job -Goes up over the lip in our kitchen -Learns the house and improves over time -Cleaning under the furniture Cons -It doesn't see a lip as an edge, so it doesn't go back over it when doing the edges -Doesn't pick up everything, but most everything My wife and I really appreciate the logical patterns the 960 uses. It does a back and forth starting from the direction it starts in (either the charging station on where you place it). After reading about the 800 series doing random patters, we felt that the 900 series was the one for us. We felt that if we had it do the upstairs and it didn't finish we wouldn't know what it cleaned. Speaking of the upstairs, we have the charging station on the 1st level, but we bring it upstairs and lock it in each room to clean. It can do most of the upstairs before it needs to be charged, but it can do the whole downstairs (800 sq feet) on one charge. One of the things were were concerned about was the 13/16ths inch lip in our kitchen and hallway. After about a 1/2 inch vertical, the lip then goes into a gradual slope. Well we didn't have to worry about that. The 960 goes up and down like the lip isn't even there. The one problem with the lip is that since the 960 doesn't see the lip as an edge or an obstacle, it doesn't really clean along the lip. I'm really impressed how the 960 "learns" the house. It seems to remember the layout of the house and furniture and anticipates what it needs to do. For an example, my wife opened the basement door once to let the 960 clean the landing and the next time it cleaned it looked to go in that door, even though it was closed. We find with the 960 we need to do some cleanup ahead of time, like getting chairs up off the floor. That okay because instead of moving furniture as you clean with a traditional vacuum, you just do all the work up front. We put the chairs up on the tables like a restaurant does and that gets the up and out of the way. Overall, it was a great decision to buy the Roomba 960. It saves us time and cleans under things we wouldn't clean on a regular basis. We end up using it more than we would vacuum, so the house is cleaning than it normally would have been. It doesn't get into the tiny spaces, but that's easy to clean up after it does its thing. I can't speak to the other models, but I would certainly recommend the Roomba 960 to anyone.

I'm a believer!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was skeptical that a robot vacuum could do a good job at really cleaning carpets. Maybe get surface dirt, sure, but not deep clean. Boy was I wrong! I am constantly amazed at how much this little vacuum can pick up. I vacuum regularly and keep my floors clean but this little robot is pulling dirt up from the carpet that the regular vacuum never got. I didn't realize before that my carpets were getting slightly dingy but after running the Roomba several times they look brighter and more like new again. This Roomba has powerful suction that cleans like a dream. If it comes to a place where it senses extra dirt it goes back and forth over it several times to get it really clean. It has an option to do edges. It already does a good job getting edges with its regular cleaning but with this setting it will make a specific pass after its normal routine to hug all the edges around the room to get those bits of debris that often get missed in regular vacuuming. This is a really nice feature that finshes a room. I have multiple surfaces in my house--carpets, tile, hardwood, and rugs. This Roomba does a great job cleaning on all of them. The components of this vacuum are simple and easy to remove for cleaning. Hair that gets wrapped around the spinning parts is easy to remove. The filter comes right out and is easy to clean and replace. This little robot saves me so much time that I can spend on other things now that I am free from vacuuming. It does such a good job the floors look even better than when I was regularly vacuuming with a traditional vacuum. This Roomba has been a great investment.

Unbelievable and fantastic
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This vacuum continues to pick up dirt and hair even when you think you have none! Everyday the bin fills after running for about an hour. I have 1 dog and 1 cat, so I wouldn't expect that much hair every 24 hours but it finds it.

Roomba
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We've had this product for several years at this point and its still going strong. It gets about 90% of the dirt on both carpet and laminate flooring. We use a small hand vac for the more stubborn areas. Sometimes it'll turn on if we nudge it ever so slightly which can be a bit annoying but not a big deal. Overall a good purchase.

Waste of money
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My husband bought the iRobot Roomba 960 for me as a Christmas present in 2018. I'm convinced it's the biggest waste of money my household spent all year. - It gets stuck everywhere. It'll suck up the corner of an area rug and get stuck. It'll forcefully wedge itself under appliances and furniture and get stuck. It gets stuck under the fridge, under the dishwasher, under the couch and under the entertainment center. To prevent it from getting stuck in such places I've been wedging shoes all around the house. The technology for sensing barriers is just not good enough, and it's not only evident in how the robot gets stuck, it's also seen in how it rams itself into walls and permanent objects it *should* know are there. In fact, it rammed and wedged itself so hard on our entertainment center that the plastic ring on the front broke in half. - It does little to nothing on area rugs. While the robot seems to do fine vacuuming hardwood floors, area rugs have visible amounts of lint and hair left behind. It just does not do enough in these areas of the home. So while iRobot claims this unit works on carpet, I shudder to think how much lint, dirt and hair are getting left behind for people with wall to wall carpet. - It frequently gets confused and cancels the job in the middle of the room because it can't find its home base. Even after the unit has been running for weeks, and should "remember" the layout of the house, it still gets confused all the time and shuts down. Even in the middle of the day, even at night when lights are on in *every* room, so it's not an issue of the robot not being able to see. - It'll lose it's battery during a job and power off in the middle of a room, cancelling the cleaning event. The unit *should* be smart enough to sense its battery is getting low, return home and charge, and then finish the job, but half the time it does not do this. It instead just dies and cancels the job. - It stops showing a map of the home after a few runs and I have to reboot it. - It complains that the bin is full when it's not. Another instance where I have to reboot the robot. This unit is an overpriced toy that is not worth the money or hassle.

I wash dishes while Consuela sweeps...
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Must I say more? Consuela (roomba 960) cuts my chores in half. Consuela sweeps while I do other things around the house. People complain about the noise but honestly, it's not noisier than an actual vacuum. We have a cat and Consuela picks up hair and litter that gets scattered by our filthy and mean thing that we love. I highly recommend this vacuum. I'm planning on buying the mop next.

Don't bother
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.1. It only ran for about 45 minutes before the battery died after a full charge. 2. During the first pass I had to empty the bin 6 times. On the second attempt it required 4. 3. Failed to locate its charger dock both times. I thought the whole point of a robotic vacuum was that I would be able to start it and let it go. This needed to be handled roughly every 7 minutes or so and then just died in the middle of the floor. There is no way this would be effective to clean while I am not at home. My dining room is open to my living room but the Roomba couldn't find it in spite of having done the living room twice. It didn't handle furniture well unless it happened to luck into passing under a chair or table without touching a leg. If it hit a leg, it tried maneuvering a few times and then gave up and went in a different direction. With all the doors open on the floor it was cleaning, it managed to find only the living room, entry hall, about 1/3 of one bedroom and 1/2 of another. It missed the kitchen, dining room, office, and two bathrooms entirely. I spent more time tending to the Roomba's needs than it would have taken me to vacuum the whole floor with my 14 year old Dyson upright. This unit is going to be returned in the morning.

Game Changer!!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I am so in love with this thing! It is shockingly intelligent. I’ve had a different brand of robot vacuum before and this one is beyond comparison. It doesn’t get stuck on things, not even the small bath rugs! It literally maps out your house and knows exactly where it has and hasn’t been. My floors are constantly covered in dog hair from having 2 huskies. It was so frustrating before I got my roomba because I really don’t have time to clean my house every day. You can set a schedule for your roomba to clean at specific times, even when you aren’t at home! AND, I have a smaller home (1200 sq ft), so this doesn’t apply to me, BUT if you have a large home and the roomba runs out of battery before it finishes cleaning, it goes back to its charging station, charges for approximately 1 hr and 15 minutes or so, it then will come back out and continue where it left off with its cleaning routine. It’s so amazing that I have a feeling I’ll be coming home with the mop version soon.

Amazing!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Best price we could find on the market for the 960. First day of use we had no trouble programing up to the WiFi. The little machine started cleaning and learning the house. It got stuck once from going under the recliner chair from having the foot rest up. It got over throw rugs and medium carpet. Tried to eat a phone wire but we rescued it. We notice it cleaned the same spot a few times but from what we see its still learning. It got better the second day. It knows how to find its charging port and when its battery is low. We love watching it clean. It picks up lots of hair , lint, and dirt no problem. My Two little dogs were a laugh to watch them bark at it. Now they avoid or ignore it. It reminds me of the very old Warner Brothers cartoon of the two dogs living in a modern home version of the 1950's with a mechanical robot broom coming out of the closet with a dust pan and sweeping up what ever falls to the floor. Great machine. Spend the extra money for the 960, its well worth it.
