Bells and Whistles don't work!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I gave it 2 stars only because it cleaned good. However don't go out and buy it right away. Out of the box the robot needs updating to perform the bells and whistles they claim (e.g. Control of what rooms to clean, the use of smart mapping technology etc…). One big problem….their app doesn't connect to their cloud and won’t perform the updates. It just continuously buffers. This is a known issue as I just got off the phone with their tech support. They said the issue will be resolved in mid-October. You’ll be spending $1000 on a robot that is comparable to the 890. Until they fix the issues I highly recommend looking into other models or companies. Like others said, this product should not have been released yet. More stars when and if the issues are corrected.

Spotty after 1 month

The majority of the time it will not return to the main hub in order to charge and self clean. I have to pick it up and take it to the hub. It has been less than a month since I purchased so very disheartening.

Errors and malfunctioning less than a year later
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Trash product. The J7 irobot stopped working within a year. I contacted customer service repeatedly and they would get the robot functioning for a little while, but it would also end up having errors again. Eventually the errors happened 3 months after the warranty expired and then when I called they tell me it needs to be replaced. The problem is that now it's out of warranty and they want to only offer $100 for me to buy another unit. It should have been replaced when I called repeatedly and it was under warranty. No way would I waste my money on this trash again. $100 credit for nothing.

Does a great job with everyday sweeping/cleaning, but we have 2 German Shepards. These wonderful pups shed constantly and the i7 manages to keep up. However get some extra disposal bags!

Guaranteed to fail in the first 90 days

To their credit, Roomba has tried to help but has failed to correct the problems, and refuses to offer a refund. Chalking it up to an expensive mistake. Two problems: in the past few months iRobot has made national headlines for releasing a software update that caused their robots to wander around drunk and not make their way back to the base. Sure enough, ours had this problem. To their credit, after a few weeks they rolled back the software and the problem seemed solved, but they recently released another software update that has broken the robot again. Since this latest update, the robot has not been able to complete a single cleaning job without getting lost and running out of juice, forcing the owner to carry it back to the charging base. Roomba has said they would roll back my software within five days, but that was eight days ago and it hasn't happened. The bigger problem is that even when the robot finds its way back to the base, within about 60 days it no longer recognizes the base as the emptying type so it stops emptying itself, which is one of the main reasons I paid extra for this unit. Assuming they eventually fix the software problem above, it would be fine as an i7 but I paid for an i7+ that is supposed to empty itself but no longer does. After multiple cleanings of the contacts, removing the battery, rebooting, yada yada you can restore the self-emptying function for about a day, and then it fails again. Roomba has sent me three new units and bases and they have all failed the same way in the same amount of time. Now that it's past a year they don't want to talk to me anymore, so I'm stuck with an expensive paperweight. Do yourself a favor and buy a different brand, you'll thank me later.

HATED IT!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Let me start off by saying that I came into this new model from the iRobot® Roomba® 980 Wi-Fi® Connected Vacuuming Robot which I absolutely LOVE! This new model complete opposite. I picked up this model iRobot® Roomba® i7+ the day it was released from best buy. I had big hopes that completely fell flat. -The model had several issues with the software connecting to wifi. For the first few days it was useless till they released a software update. Here are some additional cons: - Left my homes all wood floor still dirty. very spotty cleaning at best. -Less powerful than the 980. The 980 actually does great at picking up pet fur. This model not so much. -lighter but, bulkier body that the 980. -replacement bags are pricey. I could go on and on. But the bottom line is that I hated this model and returned for my 980. My home feels clean again thanks to the 980. As for the i7+ I would stay away from this model till Roomba works out all the bugs. Definitely not worth the Premium price tag.

Waste of money

I purchased it thinking it would help me save time keeping the floors clean. Unfortunately it doesn’t vacuum well. It leaves behind a lot of crumbs/dust. I have to pull out my Dyson after the Roomba cycle is done to pick up everything it missed.

Much easier to vacuum myself, while this piece of crap is running i have to watch over it to make sure it doesn’t get stuck or just stop. I genuinely dislike this product and do not recommend.

Save your money

Was fine until I decided to remap in order to add a bedroom. What my i7 mapped flawlessly 3 weeks previously was now a joke.Now mapping parts of my home which do not exist while missing obvious features such as walls. Multiple errors such as getting “stuck” in the middle of the floor, timing out during a job when while sitting in its home base, getting lost and stopping due to depleted battery. Tech support is a joke. The people who answer are not empowered to help. The people who supposedly can help either do not really exist or just do not believe in being responsive. Save your money or burn it in your fireplace if you really do not care about losing it. Real black eye for iRobot. I suspect the release was premature. BUYER BEWARE!!

Iroomba doesn’t work on my flooring

Machine cannot see the floor which is engineered hardwood, so stops and must be moved manually . Have worked with iroomba customer service to no avail. Company sending a replacement product.
