Rosie the Robot has proven to be a winner!
I am writing this review after five months of owning this product. I am extremely happy with the purchase. To give you a little background, I use my iRobot (Rosie) On the main floor of my house. It runs 3-4 times a week (3-scheduled, 1 random). It’s about 1000 ft.² of dark hardwood floors, tile, area rugs, tables, chairs and sofas. There are three of us that live in the house, one being a teenager with lots of friends in and out. We have one Australian Shepherd with white/gray/brown fur. You can only imagine the hairballs that generate constantly! I will admit, after the first few cleanings, I became more skeptical. The build up of dog hair would “pill up” on the rugs. After about two weeks there are rarely “pills“ to be found. Rosie gets under the couches, Along the baseboards and in and around all of the chairs. It is rare to find a hairball from the dog - anywhere! I do spot clean and give a deep clean vacuum once ever 4-5 weeks. I am very consistent on keeping Rosie maintained - I clean the rollers, brush and filter once or twice a week. It only takes a few minutes. In my environment I change the bag in the self-emptying base every 3 1/2 weeks. The bags are a bit pricey, but the base is worth it. It empties 2 to 3 times during its scheduled cleanings. The battery, so far, has been very consistent in that it has to charge once in the middle of cleaning. The time to clean my 1000 square-foot home is about three hours and 10 minutes. Overall, I am very happy with my purchase. I will be looking to add another upstairs, all carpets, in the near future. I’m waiting for the next version of the mopping unit to come out, hopefully, with a tank base to hold more water. I hope this review helps. Good luck!

24/7 carpet lines
Nothing tells gust that you care more than fresh carpet lines. Took four days to map our large house (both floors). After that we were great. I never thought about how much lint/dust could be under our beds and accumulate around the house. We thought we were a clean family but this little guy has stepped up our cleanliness. After the first two full house cleanings, 0 dirt events. Everyone that I talked to about their iRobot’s complained about having to empty the dirt bins multiple times during full house cleanings. Poof, with this setup, I don’t have that problem. To date i’ve only had a issue and a half. First one I can’t really blame the robot. It sucked up loose thread on a rug in my daughters room and unraveled about 4 feet of yarn into its dust bin. The other items was the robot doing its job. One of the kids thought it would be funny to dump 2 cup fulls of their brothers legos on the floor before we left the house ( knowing the robot was about to turn on for a scheduled run). Well we didn’t know till the fill bin indicator came on four cleanings later. Between cleaning and charging, takes 8 hrs to clean our 4Ksqft 1st floor. That’s why I scheduled separate rooms/areas through the week. Only thing that would make this item better is being able to climb stairs and clean them on the way up. We will probably get a second in a few months. Taking the unit to the second floor once a week works for now. Unit activation audio alerts is also great at causing the kids to run upstairs and pick up their toys as Honey Badger doesn’t care. Yes, that is our iRobot's Name.

Love my Roomba!
This is our first Roomba. We spent weeks researching robot vacuums and considered less expensive brands and models but we always came back to the i7+. And I'm glad we did! It was very easy to get started. I would recommend setting up the Smart Map before having it vacuum for the 1st time...though this isn't necessary. It took our Roomba 3 passes (a total of 6 hours) to map our 2,000 SF 1 story house. Once the area is mapped, you can add dividers to rooms (where they aren't automatically detected) as well as room labels within the app so you can tell smart devices like Google Home "Have the Roomba vacuum the entryway" and it will make a bee-line for the entryway, vacuum that area, then return home. --A Few Tips-- 1) Pick up electrical cords or hang them on furniture so the Roomba doesn't get stuck on them or attempt to suck them up. The i7+ includes a Virtual Wall Barrier device. When turned on, it will prevent the Roomba from vacuuming a certain area that you anticipate might cause problems. It can be set to create a halo around the area or a virtual wall to prevent the Roomba from entering a certain room (for example, you might want to keep it out of the kitchen while you're cooking). The app also allows you to set "Keep Out Zones"... more on that later in the App section. 2) From my experience, I've found that it's best to move kitchen and bathroom mats 7 inches away from the very bottom of cabinets (measuring along the floor). If the mats are too close to the cabinet or flush underneath, sometimes our Roomba gets itself wedged in between and has a hard time getting itself un-stuck. We have 3.5" between the floor and our cabinets and that's almost the exact same height as the Roomba. --Vacuum Time-- It takes our Roomba a total of 4 hours to clean our house (2.5 hours of actual cleaning time plus 1.5 hours where it needs to pause and re-charge in the middle of the cleaning process). Even though our home is 2,000 SF, only 1,170 SF is the actual vacuum-able area due to a King Size bed that it cannot fit under as well as couches and other furniture that have less than a 3.5" clearance. Although 2.5 hours of vacuuming might seem like a long time, hey, at least you're not the one doing it! I find that it motivates me to clean the house while it vacuums. I feel like I have 2 people cleaning the house at the same time instead of just 1 :) --Cleaning the i7+-- If you're like me and feel a tad overwhelmed by the cleaning instructions in the manual, just watch the approximately 7 minute long video titled "How to clean your Roomba i7/i7+" on YouTube created by RoyYaBoi. He seems to be a teenager and I think he did a GREAT job. His video made cleaning the i7+ seem like a breeze! I clean my Roomba after every complete job just to remove hair from the rollers and any nerf darts that might get stuck in it. In my case, I have to remove the rollers to find the hair stuck inside of them. It's not evident by just looking at the rollers. Note: There was a nerf dart stuck in the port on the i7+ where the home base sucks out its contents. I would never have known had I not turned the Roomba upside down and checked it out. So if you have kids, at the very least, you might want to take a look at the underside after it cleans the house. --iRobot App-- History - I like how the app keeps track of all of the vacuuming and smart mapping jobs. You can look at the map of each job to see exactly where it vacuumed. Smart Maps - You can set "Keep Out Zones" which is great if you have several areas in your house that you want the Roomba to always avoid but don't want the hassle of running around the house moving the Virtual Wall Barrier from place to place. --About our Floors-- We have hardwood floors and tile throughout with one large area rug in the living room. We do not have any pets. The Roomba works great on all of our floors! In summary, I love our i7+ and I would recommend it to anyone looking for a robot vacuum!

A best helper for busy families
I don’t know how we use to clean our house before Roomba became one of our member. Took a week for Roomba to learn and to make a map of our rooms. After that Roomba automatically clean our house without needing to tell him clean. Setup was easy and scheduling Roomba was easy on the iRobot app. I totally recommend this little helper to anyone who need extra help with their house cleaning.

First Roomba - instantly impressed cancel
I can't say enough good stuff about this unit. I've watched it clean up everything from wilted flower petals and pet hair, to pine needles from the Christmas tree. Once it mapped out our entire bottom floor (~1500 sq ft) It no longer runs into stuff unless it's something we've added or moved. I've watched it navigate chords, my teenagers dirty sock, and a full 8.5 by 11 sheet of paper. These are just a few of the things it has avoided. Once mapped, cleaning takes approximately 2.5 hours for the entire bottom floor. Most days now I don't even notice it's going. When I do, you can hear a little bit of noise from it but I work from home and it's not terribly disturbing. The noise level is far less than a regular vacuum. The dust bin holds enough that I don't feel like I'm always emptying it. I really couldn't say one thing that stands out as a negative. We are thoroughly happy. At first I found myself staring at it, watching it do its thing. We have now purchased two more as gifts for our family members. Completely satisfied with our little Sucky McSweepy
