Speakers sounded great at first but now sound like crap after about 3 weeks

I have these installed with an Alpine KTP-445U amplifier and after a little tuning at the Geek Squad service bay, they sound amazing! These speakers bring out the mid bass so well and the lows are still noticeable. It plays very crisp vocals and high hats/snare as well. Having a nice balance between the highs and mids is where the speakers shine. Bass is very clear but you will need a subwoofer. Theses speakers will not sound good at all running off of the factory head unit, I learned that the hard way unfortunately, and is highly recommended that you buy an amp to run these. I listen to Hip Hop and the most noticeable songs that bring out that nice mid range is "Love Hurts" by Playboi Carti and a great song to listen to with a little bit of everything is "Status Symbol 3" by Nipsey Hussle. I'm running these off a Pioneer GM-D9500F in bridged mode. You might be thinking that's overkill, but my HU's settings are basically all flat, all enhancements off, with the HPF set to 100hz to give them some breathing room. Amp gain is set pretty low since my HU has 4v preouts. Account for voltage drop since I'm probably nowhere near 14.4v and I'm guessing I'm around 150w per door. I also doubt these are actually 2.3 ohms and perhaps closer to 3, but I didn't bother to measure. Couldn't wait to pop them in and see what they could do. Right out of the gate, I don't find myself needing to tweak the EQ at all. I left the crossover at its default tweeter setting of +3dB and I don't find them too bright. Just the right amount of clarity for my taste. From Tool, Slayer, Fleetwood Mac, or Rebelution, whatever I tossed at them, I thought these sound great for what I paid! Crispy highs that don't sizzle too much, nice midbass that has some authority with my modest 8" Polk backing it up, and a midrange that I have not found offensive in the least. That last part, as someone who likes heavy stuff, is super crucial. I hate speakers that have a buzzsaw midrange. I end up having to cut too many bands on the EQ, which I know is part of the game, but I don't compete. I just want good sound out of the box. That's what we're paying for at this price point, right? Keep in my mind my doors are deadened like crazy, but I do use the factory plastic speaker mount since I like how much depth it gives and I'm too lazy to make MDF baffles. I can't give them a 5. To me, a 5 star component set for the money is something like Hybrid Audio's Imagine set. A shame they're so expensive now compared to when they launched, though. Hope that helps!

I bought these component speakers along with the coaxial JBL speakers and they all sound great; a lot better than the factory speakers! Best Buy installed them within three hours and they look professionally installed. Looking to get an amplifier from them as well.

These speakers are OK. Not great. Higher frequencies on these speakers sound decent, but the mid bass and lows are severely lacking. I have had many different brand component speakers that blow these away. If you choose to purchase speakers at Best Buy, go with Kicker or Alpine. My Kicker component speakers go lower and so do my Alpines. This set does come with great mounting hardware, which makes it a lot easier to install on my factory sail panels and doors. The speakers also feel solid, but the aluminum basket had some imperfections, clearly straight out of the factory, and not damaged from shipping because it was packed well. But that’s about all that’s going on for this pair of speakers. Best Buy located in Fairview Heights is an excellent store, and I always shop here because they have a great crew. Always kind and knowledgeable.

Place the speakers in the rear area of the car, the sound has been better than expected. I'm considering taking two more for the front end.

I just purchased these speakers over the Thanksgiving weekend. Great sounding speakers at a terrific price.

Speakers needed to replace supposedly blown speaker in car door. Sound tested good on display so purchsed the pair. When the door panel was taken off to move oem speakers , discovered loose and rattling screws and replaced and repaired original. Determined I did not need to replace the oem. The price and sound on display warranted the purchase.
