Unit took a while to install because getting the fit "just right" was kind of a pain with the Metra installation kit (99-6511BB), with which I really wasn't pleased. The final appearance in the dashboard of our vehicle is OK but not what I would call perfect. The wiring kit and splicing worked out pretty well, just have to be patient. Display needs a non-glare front, my opinion, and the brightness on a sunny day could use a boost. Preserving the steering wheel controls is nice but one 'click' at a time for raising the volume is no good. Relatively easy to operate if you know what to do; chasing around the screen to find what you want is best left for when you're not driving or have a passenger to do it. Summary: Sounds good in our vehicle (doesn't get driven a lot), be patient if doing the installation yourself.

I like how clear the display is. I like how it interacts with the apps I have on my phone. Very easy to use.

    Beats Silence

Nineteen year old Silverados tend to go quiet. The radio had been dead for three years. Prior the silence, it hag gone psychotic. The clock still worked. This resurrection wasn't a mere restoration. It surpassed all the features of the OEM brick. The dead original radio took out all the speakers when it left us. The Wife is nothing, if not thorough. I had to commit to two speakers, in order to get noise out of it. On the Upside: I jumped 2 decades into the future with the technology. Remember, this is a 19 year old truck. I just replaced the battery, which - pretty much - totalrd out the beast. Replacing the radio was more of of response to an OCD flare up. If I get another flare, I may spring for two more speakers. On the Downside: It can be a driving hazard. Just set it to the default radio station and drive. It got too many menu options to figure out whilst in motion. No real buttons, to speak of. Touch, tap, double tap, tap and hold, tap and turn your head and cough. Oh, and don't forget to swipe every once and awhile. There are way too many large solid objects out there to risk on the job training. It sure beats the sound of silence. But, now I have to lock the truck up. That wasn't much of an issue before.

It took me a few days to learn to navigate it, but I really like the radio on it. I love that it has other apps like Audible, Amazon Music, and Spotify. If I don't have anything on my radio I like I turn to these apps. I also like the fact that I can connect my phone to it. Hands free phone calls are great. The fact that I can connect google maps to it is great. I do wish I could figure out how to turn the volume down on the voice navigation. The guys in Harrisburg who installed it for us did a great job.

I recently installed car radio in my 2005 Chevrolet Equinox, and overall, I’ve had a great experience with it. What I liked: The design is sleek and modern, and the touchscreen is surprisingly responsive for a unit in this price range. It paired with my phone via Bluetooth almost instantly, and calls are crystal clear on both ends. I also appreciated the built-in navigation system—it’s basic but reliable enough for everyday use. The sound quality is a noticeable upgrade from my factory radio, especially with the equalizer settings customized. What I don’t like is that sometimes i have to unplug the plug my phone back in to reset because the screen goes off or doesn’t respond. Final Thoughts: If you're looking for a budget-friendly upgrade with decent audio and Bluetooth functionality, the JVC car radio is a solid choice. Just be prepared for a few quirks and a learning curve when setting it up.

Bought this JVC unit for my daughter's Jeep, and it's been a great upgrade. The screen is bright and responsive, and both Android Auto and Apple CarPlay work flawlessly. Bluetooth connects quickly, and the rear camera input is a huge plus for added safety. Install was smooth with the right kit. Highly recommend for anyone wanting reliable tech without breaking the bank!

The stereo itself works great functions great. The install of it was OK when I first got it back. They didn’t hook up the back up camera. The phone function on it was connecting via Bluetooth and via CarPlay, but you couldn’t hear anything through the speakers took it back. They fixed all that issues. It was great got it back. They said that the install kit that they had was for the newer versions of the ram 1500 when I got it back home after that, I pulled it all off move the brackets on the stereo itself to push the stereo out through the hole to make it look better and more flush sanded some of the plastic down where the old stereo was then I also removed the CarPlay port and put a flush mount in as well to make it look better. All in all was great installers were great. Just need to pay a little bit more attention to detail with the installers or if something comes up they need to make sure that they contact the customer a little bit better and go over things with them. Other than that everything is great now.

I replaced my factory stock head unit with JVC 6.8, kept my stock speakers and it brought the sound back to life, The features are easy to understand, connects to Bluetooth with ease, Apple CarPlay, android with no issues. Sure you can spend 500-1000$ this JVC will do the same thing for less.

I have acquired many head units throughout the years in fact, several just recently. My review of this product has been very positive. While I have more expensive head units and more of my primary vehicles, I wanted something that would get the job done and not cost too much money. This Unit filled the bill completely. I’m extremely impressed with its easy user ability. It’s high-performance as well as its sonic excellence. Quite impressive, to be honest.

I was having a bad time I had to go back to Best Buy in Simsbury after i had the new radio installed. I never felt disrespected in my life. I went to Holyoke Mass. to get it installed. It was worse than the other one I had already. I had to take it to Manchester and Mat was good he showed me what he was going to do and how everything worked He got my steering wheel controllers working. That the other place said they didn't work when they did. come to find out Mat installed my first radio when I bought my Truck. I Just wanted to thank him for making things right. Now when i am driving i just push one button and tell the radio what i am thinking. THANK YOU MAT.

It's an easy to use interface. Most functions are easy to find one you look around the first time. I do wish the was a bit more gradation in volume between 0 and 1. But for the price, I'm super happy with it.

    Great budget entry level stereo

Pretty good stereo for the price, sounds great paired with a 4 channel amp powering 2 61/2 kicker door speakers and a kicker monoblock powering a 12 inch rockford fosgate in a standard cab silverado. The unit has a 13 band equalizer with plenty of settings to fine tune the sound to your liking. The only cons is its only wired carplay which i prefer wireless but it is what it is and the volume swith is not a knob which takes a bit longer to lower the volume. With all that said this is still a great unit for the $250 price tag. If you’re on a budget this stereo will not disappoint!

I installed this unit in my son's car along with the harness and the dashboard kit it fit perfect and took about an hour and a half to two hours to install. everything went together pretty straightforward all the wires matched up in color and the plugs plugged right into the Toyota Corolla 2009. I would recommend getting this setup as it is an easy install. no need to pay for it to be installed

I wish I'd gotten the installation with it. I thought I could do it on my own. BIGGGG mistake! Still trying to figure out the power delay on and off and the steering wheel controls. The instructions say it is "Bluetooth ready." However it doesn't link to my Android. Right now I have to use a USB cable to link the phone. Also, the rear view camera is not automatic. It works, but I have to touch 2 buttons. It's better than what I had, so we're good!

Best Buy fine, JVC firmware safety issue.

Only one issue so far but it is a safety issue. JVC mutes volume when the camera is activated supposedly as a priority safety feature. The issue is I have side blind spot cameras so when I am the middle of a news program or podcast, the audio goes out when I signal a lane change. It is very distracting and is actually more unsafe as it is tempting not to use my turn signals. Debating whether to return it (in use 4/9/2026 to 5/9/2026)
