This was a gift to our daughter for Christmas. She really likes it. Bluetooth works well. She wanted a CD player, and it checked that box. We are still in the process of getting CarPlay wired. Then it will be perfect! We originally had an installation scheduled at Best Buy for the 27 of December, but due to Geek Squad illness we were rescheduled for February 1st. This was out of Best Buys control, but we gave this as a Christmas gift, not Valentines one, so it was a no go. We were fortunate to find and pay someone, somewhere else to install. This brings me to the CarPlay. It is NOT wireless, but there is a short wire on the back of the receiver with a USB connection that needs to be hooked up. As I said, the wire is very short, so our installer assumed because of all this receivers' bells and whistles it was wireless, and the short wire was for installation of a backup camera, which we didn't purchase. Anyway. After being unable to link to CarPlay, and talking to our installer, he knew exactly what was going on, and has ordered a longer wire and faceplate for dash to get us squared away. He said there was no way for the existing wire alone to be accessible without an extension. Geek Squad installation may have prevented that bump in the road, but not necessarily.

I found this system to be pretty decent overall, but with a few drawbacks. First, I highly recommend getting a system with actual buttons for volume control. The touch screen just doesn't work well for this purpose. When using a thumbdrive this JVC reads a lot of formats, and generally works pretty well, but navigating the contents leaves a lot to be desired. There is no play bar with which to skip through a file if you are listening to something like an audio book, so it's best to finish the whole file before listening to something else. Also when you tap on the "album" title to navigate it assumes you want to do so by tags rather than folders, and the choice isn't sticky, so every time I have to tap the album, tap the drop down menu, change to folders, hit the "top" button to get to the root of the USB. It works, but isn't great. There is no dedicated button to eject a disc, this is hidden away in the functions menu. This JVC system does the job, but I would recommend getting something with a better interface. If CarPlay is your thing this is fine, but then you probably aren't going for a model with a CD player.

Good for two years and then stopped working

I bought the stereo during March 2022. It only comes with a one-year warranty and it stopped working for the two year mark the screen wouldn’t work. I called JVC if they can give me a replacement or if they can fix it. They told me neither, they suggested I buy a new one . I was a little frustrated because had I known they weren’t going to at least fix the stereo I would’ve never bought it. I was extremely upset. I’m not gonna go buy a new one. I paid $500 for the stereo and for them to install it. You gotta be kidding me .

Very happy with my new stereo, it does everything I wanted it to do, plays CD's and DVD's, yea I still have a few of those laying around, plus it plays USB thumb drives which is my preferred way to get music in my car, but I can hook up my phone if I wanted too. The Best Buy tech that installed my stereo, Riley, did a great job, also handling not only the stereo, but the back up camera as well, and making sure everything worked seamlessly as well as showing me how to operate all the little bells and whistles that came along with my new purchase. Very happy all around, I will be back when I buy another car and need to buy a new stereo, Best Buy shows why I value them and their services with all my electronic needs.

Really enjoying this new stereo after replacing a 22 year OEM stereo. Took a little getting used to having to adjust the equalizer to find the right sound after only having a few adjustments before. We don't like that the stereo automatically comes on when you start the car up. It would be nice if it would remain in the mode you left it in. All the new features are nice to have, and now we have bluetooth calling.

Very nice unit and Best Buy's installation great. It's happily in a 2007 Corolla. Caveat: Menu graphics on far left are way to small for old people like me. Those graphics include volume "buttons" for the radio. Also, we dinosaurs listen to the radio. Instructions for adding FM stations to the preset list (and there are at least 20 presets available on two different lists) are not in the Quick Setup guide. They are in the instruction manual available on the web. Had they been in the Quick Setup Guide, I would have given a 5 to this economical and sweet receiver.

This head unit is better than the Kenwood ones I tried. The interface is easy to navigate. Android Auto works well. The only thing that is a bit mediocre is the microphone as it is not the clearest.

I bought this to have a working CD player in my car (the original one died). It's quite different in set up (no buttons to push!) so it's taking some getting used to. Trying to make adjustments while driving doesn't work as well with flat screen icons (bring back buttons and knobs!) but choices were limited. The price was good as is the quality so far. Doesn't come with GPS which my original radio had.

Bought a new 2019 Jeep Wrangler but couldn’t live without apple carplay. Replaced my head unit with this one, and it’s awesome. Now I truly love my jeep. This jack head unit has it all, carplay, android auto, and even a built in DVD player. Great for off road excursions:-)

I have no major issues with this product, however, I cannot give it 5 stars because of two issues. 1. Once connected to Android Auto, it randomly will disconnect from my phone. Not a huge issued if your parked, but if your already driving, well then you either switch over to bluetooth only (which is not a big deal) or you pull over, reengage the parking break and restart the car. It's only done it 4 times since I have had it this month, but it's annoying. 2nd issue - the screen is not brite enough during daytime operations. Even after doing the adjustments, its still hard to see if you have the sun glaring into your vehicle. Overall, its not a bad unit. It looks good and sounds good.

After much searching for an affordable reputable brand stereo, I settled on this one. I had a few important traits I was looking for. It needed the ability to play CDs, be Bluetooth enabled, and to be able to connect to my phone to display GPS on the screen. Android Auto was the promised solution for this. But from the get-go it was flaky. While it will do Bluetooth to my phone for playing music and audio apps you have to plug into the USB port for GPS. After connecting to Android Auto after a couple of minutes it would crash and you'd have to start all over again. By this time you're now driving down the road and have to try to get it going again while moving which was presenting an even worse scenario than just using my phone only for GPS from the beginning. I don't know why Android Auto keeps crashing? Another minor frustration is it takes about 10-15 seconds to boot up which seems like a long time when you want to set music or book app up before you start driving.

Love the radio, easy to use except for the volume. It’s kind of a pain to turn the volume up or down while you’re driving since you have to push the button. Just seems to be awkward to me. Wish it was a knob instead or had the switch on my steering wheel. Other than that it’sa great radio.

Great product that certainly upgraded my cars technology. The fit into the dash was perfect and it was easy to use right out of the gate. The only drawback is the time it takes to connect to apple play after you plug your phone in. Once it’s connected though it’s a very nice system.
