I bought this a couple of months ago as an open box item. BIG MISTAKE!!! I guess someone else had returned it for that issue. It was going in my Motorhome and I just got the time to install it. I am sure it is too late to return it now. I will NEVER by another open box item again, and suggest other don't do it. It is my fault as to the timeline but this is screwed up big time!!!

In the beginning I thought it was a great purchase. Now you can’t sync your phone to the radio. When you follow the instructions the phone says nothing is receivable . And that was one of the reason why purchased the radio and because it was a JVC

Open box item, stopped working literally the day after the return policy expired. As for the "free install" my local BB cancelled three of my appointments till I gave up. Thanks for the 25 points.

Had this installed in my son's car before he headed back to college, 7 hours away. Within his first week there, the system stopped working entirely - won't even power on.

    Annoying

This speaker looks much nicer than the stock one that came with my 2001 Subaru forester. Has more features, everything works as it says. However, I didn’t realize from anything in the product description that whenever you’re playing through Spotify (and probs Pandora too), the radio disables you from using your phone. The spotify logo is all that appears on your phone and you’re supposed to navigate the entire app through the receiver, which is much more difficult. Also, when I try to play music off Youtube, the receiver keeps defaulting to the music downloaded on my phone instead. I turn off the downloaded music, go back to Youtube, then if I turn the receiver’s volume up it goes back to the downloaded music. It seems like this radio is too advanced for its own good. I just want to plug in and play something without it controlling my phone for me. If anyone knows how to fix these issues, please let me know. I was so excited about this at first but now I’m considering exchanging it

I bought this at Best Buy yesterday and had it installed today by Geek Squad. This stereo is incredible. It has quality sound, the menu is easy to navigate, and I love that you can change the LED colors. I am extremely happy with it and would definitely recommend it.

I had the model that came two generations prior to this one. I thought it would be very little change, but it has an eq feature that adjusts to the volume level. The other feature is optimization for the particular speaker size for all pairs in your car. The only complaint I have is compared to the 910 or 920 the colors are not as customizable. The sound improvement I found was worth the money.

    Throwing away $400

The factory stereo in my car was dying. It was time to replace it. I thought this unit would be a great replacement. I bought it for $119. I had to get several kits to install it. BestBuy didn't have them all so I had to buy them elsewhere. BestBuy couldn't install it for me for over two weeks so I found somebody to install it for me. That was another $80. Now I'm into this for over $400. It sounded horrible. After learning how to use the menus, I spent an exorbitant amount of time turning off all the "features". Although that improved the sound it was still lacking. Sometimes I like to crank it up. While I could get a little volume out of it, I didn't come close to what I was looking for. Even the factory stereo was much better. The EQ settings sounded bad. Nothing useful there. Most songs sounded like the vocals were in the background with way too much reverb. The midrange sounded harsh and the low end was either muffled and boomy or non existent. I made the decision to replace it. I bought another receiver elsewhere. The receiver was only $70 and the install kit was about the same, Total of about $150. The place even wired the special cable for me and I was able to install it myself.Sounds Great! I tried to return the JVC to BestBuy but it was beyond the return period. They wouldn't even give me store credit. I asked them to throw it away for me since I wouldn't sell such junk to anybody. If I have to say something nice about this it would be that the lights are pretty and the clock keeps good time. I would have been better off to just throw $400 in the street.

    Good but a bit inconvenient

I like it and the radio reception is good, but there are a couple of drawbacks. One is that it's difficult and awkward to set and/or select radio stations above first 6 presets. Documentation states that you can preset up to 18 FM stations, but 7 - 18 require extra steps and selecting those presets while driving is too much. I don't like this. The other thing is that you cannot switch to radio if a CD is inserted. To the best of my knowledge, you actually have to remove the CD completely before you can listen to the radio. Again, doing this while driving is too much. I did try ejecting the CD which causes the unit to jump to radio, but then it reloads the CD automatically and starts playing the CD again. I don't like this. I really wish these had been obvious before I purchased the unit. Had I known, I would have looked for a different model. But it says nothing about this in the manual or on the box (of course) and the sales people don't mention it either. :-(

    New Phone wouldn’t connect

So I got this product in September 2018. I had a Samsung Galaxy 8 which it worked fine for a while. I ended up breaking the Galaxy 8 and got a replacement phone probably in March 2019 it took me probably over 20 tries to get that to connect but it finally worked. Now In November 2019 I switched to an iPhone 11 which wouldn’t connect at all, I thought no big deal I’ll use the USB, the screen kept telling me “ usb error” so that doesn’t work. Now the thing won’t even turn on. That just sounds great right? NOT! Don’t buy this garbage. Also it now costs like $100 to test the transmitter no thanks.
