This one is much nicer and the SS finish looks great and matches our other Kitchenaid appliances. If you like using a trash compactor this is a real nice one. Bags are very cheap to buy at Costco unlike our other brand.

When I press on the foot pedal to open it the drawer disengages but doesn't open---I then have to lift up AND pull on the handle to get the drawer open. I had a factory rep repairman to assess it and he said nothing is wrong with it---that it was functioning properly. I am not appeased at all. This unit replaced my prior KitchenAid built-in trash compactor that lasted 28+ years so I'm speaking from experience that the door should pop open unassisted. Note: I made the purchase on 9/1/20. The delivery date was 11/25/20. Install was 11/30/20. I've been too busy to submit the review nor have I used the trash compactor.

I wish I wouldn't have. We only replaced it so it would match our new refrigerator and dishwasher. The stainless steel on this product is horrible - not sure if it's only mine or if it's a problem for others . I don't know why they don't make it in a "printshield s/s" like they do the fridge and dishwasher. If any spot (water) gets on the compactor it is there to stay! I had to stop hanging a hand towel on the bar because the water spots are impossible to remove. Would not recommend.
