Don't buy it. It came not closing right. We had to lift it to close right. It was rough from the beginning. Within 2 weeks it started making weird noises and then just stopped working. The repairman came out and said it needs new rails, new bin, they are bent, new motor, it is burnt out and new wiring harness. Oh and they are on back orderer hopefully in a month we will get the parts. When they come in (sent to my home) I have to call and make an appointment to come out and rebuild it. I have had it 2 months. Terrible product and even worse considering how much it cost! Don't buy it.

A new KitchenAid trash compactor did not work when it was installed in early Jan 2025. It was replaced and the replacement had the same problem - drawer wouldn't automatically open. A KitchenAid certified technician was scheduled and he had to special order parts in mid Feb. The compactor has still not been repaired.

Have always enjoyed a trash masher and would not live without one

This compactor is great and it works very well compressing far better than our last compactor.

We bought this product at the end of September and it did not work. The foot pedal did not release the trash door and the compactor "sometimes: work. I called Kitchenaid the day it was delivered for a fix. They sent out a technician ..3 weeks later and he couldn't fix the problem. I called Kitchenaid again and they resent a technician. Again no fix but was going to order a new part. The scheduled repair, another 3 weeks later was also cancelled since the repairer haven't received the part. So I'm now 9 weeks past installation and the unit is still useless.

Had a Kenmore before for 25 years. Kitchenaid is very expensive. I don't know. It just seems more flimsy than the Kenmore. It doesn't compact as much and the activator (footpad) is VERY flimsy like it would break easily. Doesn't feel like the price of it. Don't know if Whirlpool is any better as none of the stores have any inventory.

Great unit. Has an air filter, that you can use an special air freshener with, so the trash won't smell.

The wait of 3 months for delivery was worth the purchase.

We are very pleased with the Kitchen Aid Trash Compactor. It operates well.

When we step on the open bar it only opens about 4 inches. Then you have to pull it out the rest of the way. The wheels don't seem to roll very well.

It quit before a month was up. Had to get in a repairman already.

Delivery was late. Item was probably defect, but nobody knew. Now have to wait a month because Best Buy tan out.

Love the foot pedal. It makes it so easy to operate the packing feature without touching the compactor when hands are dirty.

We love it. KitchenAid makes a wonderful product.

This is not what KitchenAid used to be. Got this in December, all of the welds broke by july. Sat on hold for warranty claim two separate times for over an hour with never talking to a human. Do not buy this compactor. Avoid KitchenAid cheap products all together if you can. Finally gave up and bolted the compactor area together. Zero Customer Service!!!!!

Bin doesn't close without lifting it by the handle & then giving it hard shove to get it closed.

I purchased this to complete a kitchen full of Kitchenaid appliances but it was flawed from the very start. Kitchenaid sent out a repairman a couple of days later who could do nothing to remedy the problem, so it's replacement had to wait another week (through the Christmas holiday party we had) so it was a major inconvenience. I'm hoping it's replacement does not have the same flaw.
