    Terrible refrigerator!

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

This refrigerator looks so pretty and appears to have all the bells and whistles but do not be fooled, it is garbage! Within 2 years the refrigerator would just die about once a week or so (no lights or display and essentially appeared like it turned off). Unplugging it and plugging it back in would seem to reset it. We did all the troubleshooting and thought we fixed it but then a few months later the interior lights would go out and the ice dispenser stopped working. Again, unplugging and plugging back in seemed to “fix” it. Well now the interior lights are off, the display lights are on but nothing is working (the water/ice dispenser or the fridge itself). We are scrambling to get all our food to another fridge so it won’t spoil! We went with KitchenAid thinking it was a reputable and reliable brand but that couldn’t be further from the truth! You shouldn’t have to replace a $4000 fridge every 2-3 years! AND you shouldn’t have to buy a warranty at that price either! If you cannot stand behind your $4k product to last more than a few years than that is outrageous! Learn from our expensive mistake and make a better choice, go with a different brand.

Do not buy this refrigerator! The only good reviews are from buyers who have not owned the unit very long. This is the second one that we have owned because the first one died after 2.5 years. We thought it was just a bad apple, but now the second one is dying too after only 3.5 years! It appears to be the motherboard / electronic issue this time because the unit just shuts down and stops cooling randomly. Too bad because I love the look.

This fridge has caused us nothing but problems. We have easily spent over $1000 fixing this fridge over the past 3 years we’ve had it. The freezer is absolutely horrible and has defrosted on us multiple times making us throw everything away. The ice maker works about 50% of the time and always gets clogged. We’ve had a repair guy come out and fix the defrosting issue in the freezer multiple times and the same issue keeps happening. Our kenmore which is over 30 years old out in our garage works better than this piece of junk. Do yourself a favor and stay away. It’s pretty! That’s about it!

I bought this refrigerator because I thought it was top of the line. How I was deceived. We had problems with it immediately after we took delivery. 2 years later the ice machine broke and caused The ice dispenser to break as well. This is not what I would expect from a $3000 refrigerator. I contacted Kitchenaid/Whirlpool customer service and they were of no help, offered no solution other than to schedule me an appointment with an appliance repair man. I’m sure that their customer service team will respond to my review, don’t want that for you it’s all a charade. They don’t plan to offer a solution that I’m interested in. A $3000 fridge should last 2 years without issue. This will be the last whirl pool/KitchenAid product I buy.

Fridge Doesn't work AFTER 3 YEARS! It's been a year and the maintenance men cannot figure out why my fridge is not cooling, or why it's leaking. Ice machine doesn't work and fridge gives a loud constant buzzing and ringing sound from the moment you plug it in. Customer Service can care less and even though the fridge is under the manufactures warranty. I am still paying for maintenance men to come out and say they don't know whats wrong with it. 5 visits down and still no answers.

Worst refrigerator I've even owned. Freezer stopped working and Kitchenaid tech was 10 days out. Called a local tech who walked in and walked out - they don't work on this model due to too many problems. Same with second tech. Whirlpool tech finally came and has been out 5 times and they can't seem to find or fix the problem. You wait a week for a tech and then a week or longer for the part to come in. What a circus.

Expensive fridge with tons of issues. Have had to have it serviced more than 4 times over the last 3-5 years with the icemaker not working, no water dispensing, and the seals and doors having to constantly be adjusted. My mom has a fridge that's 30 years old and works with no problem. These new fancy ones are meant to fail within 5-6 years. Not worth the money. Probably grab one cheap from scratch and dent and get a homeowners warranty to cover any repairs.

    Don’t get it !

Do not get this fridge ! KitchenAid knows something is definitely wrong with it and yet they keep making and selling them . Biggest mistake getting it . It leaks every single day and the space under drawers collects water and ice . It has leaked on my floors ruining my wood and went all the way down to my basement. What a waste of money . Last tech said it needs to be replaced because water is leaking and it’s not going in the pan where it’s supposed to . Last time I wiped the water from under the drawers there was mold in the back . I wasn’t surprised but who wants mold near the food they have . Save yourself a huge headache. We have only had it for a few years .

    Constant problems, DO NOT BUY

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

We bought this nice looking fridge as part of a set when remodeling our kitchen, 1.5 years ago. We splurged a bit and spent more assuming it was high quality. It's not. We've had several broken parts and problems - a couple were repaired under warranty, but now that the 1 year warranty has expired we're on our own. Most recently the ice maker doesn't work and is constantly getting clogged or frozen up. We've had problems with the oven, which is part of the same set, too. So, I would highly recommend you look elsewhere. It's too bad since this is a nice looking set, but we've had problems 2/3 parts now, and figure it's a matter of time before the dishwasher starts falling apart, too.

Have you ever seen stainless steel rusting ?

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

I bought it 4 years ago and I have already had to repair the freezer drawer which was not closing tight and ice was forming inside the drawer, and twice the ice maker. Also, please note that on the refrigerator description it says “ Color : stainless steel “ exactly! The freezer drawer and the 2 small drawers are rusting, and the repairmen told me that this refrigerator it is not made of stainless steel, so I guess it is just because of the silver color they named it “stainless steel”. Sincerely, I cannot believe that I paid almost $4,000 for this junk. Do not buy it.

    Avoid This Product

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

Made by Whirlpool, this refrigerator has a known problem. DO NOT BUY THIS REFRIGERATOR The Whirlpool and KitchenAid french door refrigerators have a known problem that causes the compressor and coils to freeze over. You will have a repairman out every four months to defrost the cooling system with a heat gun, which does not solve the problem. The issue is that the sensor is too close to the cold air vent so it cannot tell when the compressor snd coils are freezing over until it is too late. And unlike nearly every other refrigerator on the planet, it does not have a heating element to remove the ice once it detects that it has frozen. It just turns off the cooling system—but not long enough for the ice to actually melt. And then it starts the cycle over. So your food just rotates between between freezing and spoiling until someone manually defrosts it. And worst, Whirlpool refuses to fix the problem. They just send someone out to defrost your system until your warranty expires and then walk away. There is even a class action lawsuit about this issue. So buy anything else.

    Defective Water Dispenser

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

I purchased this refrigerator in the beginning of May 2018. The first one was installed, and immediately the water dispenser was making a really loud noise and shooting out milky colored water in a rough, uneven stream. I cycled about 10 gallons worth of water, to no avail. A geek Squad guy came out and confirmed the problem. Since it wouldn't be simple fix, we processed a return/exchange. The second fridge was delivered yesterday, and its got the same problem. Loud noise of air being sucked in a line at the top of the door, rough uneven stream, but the water is now only very cloudy instead of milky. (I know it's just air, but I'm not going to drink cloudy water, nor leave the glass on the counter for a 3 minutes to let the air settle out. Especially not on a $3k+ fridge.) We are going to try one last exchange. Hopefully 3rd times the charm. At least Best Buy/Pacific Sales has been very helpful throughout the process. I will update this with anything new.

Run Away as fast as you can. We have owned two of these in both our actual home and investment property. Both units started losing control boards in the first 2 years and each time you replace one you get about 6-8 months out of a new board which costs around $350-$400 per replacement. Two different units bought within 1 year of each other and both had to be replaced totally within 4 years. Don't waste your time or money on this expensive piece of trash.

Bought this in Oct 21, 2016 from BestBuy. The store and sales staff are great but this unit is trash. Previously had a Kitchenaid refrigerator for 16 years. Two months after purchase had to have the freezer door gasket replaced - took two visits and two weeks. Had to replace compressor in Aug 2018 - had to wait 5 days for first repair visit and took two visits and two weeks. Unit totally failed Sep 22, 2018 - nothing works except control panel. Kitchenaid service is hard to contact and work with. The website link to submit a comment to Kitchenaid does not work. Every repair takes at least 2 visits and over two or three weeks.
