I have always needed some sort of steady noise in the background to help me sleep. Typically I have a box fan, ceiling fan, or circular fan running in my bedroom, but when on the road it is not the most convenient thing to travel with. I have tried using apps on my phone which usually lead to hearing the loop sound or other interrupting sounds that end up disrupting my sleep. Nothing like a notification coming through when you can't mute the phone as you need the sound. Also, the AC in a hotel usually has a mind of its own, cutting on and off at random times. However, the LectroFan is small enough to pack away and provides a perfect, non-stop sound that sounds very realistic. So realistic that I could have sworn that there was air coming from the direction of the sound. It also has some weight to it that helps keep it in place on your nightstand. There are 20 different sounds that can help meet anyone's desires, as listed in the picture. These sounds range from the sound of leaving an old TV on to large industrial fan, like you're sleeping in a warehouse. After listening to all of them I almost wished they had a diesel generator sound to remind me of my times out in the field during training exercises. The buttons are far enough apart and simple enough that it is easy to make changes in a dark room. There is a 60 minute timer that can be increased per 60 minutes to 120 and 180 that I do not use, because when the sound stops, that is when I wake. The other thing that this device can be used for is drowning out noises while you are awake. When used in an office or waiting area, the volume can be increased to a point that you can barely hear yourself talk over it. Yet, at the right level and setting it can prevent anyone else in the area overhearing a conversation in the other room. However, set the volume too high and the sounds start to crackle. Though the design is simple it looks a bit dated. With the heptagon shape, very sharp edges, large grey buttons, and only available in white and black may limit where you want to put this. But, at the same time, it is really a type of device that is meant to be heard and not necessarily seen. Also, the power that the LectroFan uses is standard USB 0.5 amp, 1watt. So, if you happen to be short on plugs, or forgot an adapter, any powered USB port will essentially work. So, use that one outlet for your laptop and plug the LectoFan into the computer and drown out those distracting random sounds.

I have been somebody who sleeps with a fan by my bed for years. I cannot sleep in silence as my mind tends to focus on every little sound I hear. I will even take my fan with me when traveling to ensure I get a good night of sleep at whatever hotel I may be visiting. Being a warm natured person, the fan has never bothered me but my fiance has had to “deal with it” for the past few years. He hates the draft and cool air being blown around the room from the fan, more-so during the winter months. I wasn’t sure if this device would work for me as other sleep noise devices in the past have been a disappointment. They tend to cycle through a sound then repeat it after 5-10 minutes or so, which did not work for me. The LectroFan has been fantastic! I’ve slept with it for 2 nights now and have nothing but good things to say about the sounds it produces. There is no cycling or looping of a track as it generates the sounds via some sort of internal programming for a constant uninterrupted sound. There are 10 fan sounds and 10 white noise sounds from which to make your selection and I was pleasantly surprised to find a fan noise that matches my old fan perfectly. All of the fan noises are different and mimic a wide array of commonly heard fans. The white noise sounds are all pretty much the same sound increasing in pitch with each selection. The lowest white noise setting sounds similar to a fan, in my opinion, and the highest white noise setting resembles the snow/static of a TV channel without a signal. I can see how this would be great for private conversations such as in a therapist's office. The fan noise sounds so real that I have found myself forgetting there is no fan on my nightstand anymore and when I don’t feel a cold breeze I remember that I have this amazing little noise machine. The unit is very easy to operate and comes with easy to read instructions. The power cord has a USB connection on one side so you can plug it directly into a USB port if available or use the included USB power cube wall adapter. The other side of the power cord is a traditional connection that plugs into the base of the unit and tucks into a groove to guide it out of the bottom rear of the unit. The LectroFan can be used all night long or you can set it on a 60 minute timer. The volume can go very loud, much louder than I will ever need. The unit itself is very small and light, it is approximately 4 inches in diameter and 2 inches tall, making it easy to pack into a suitcase and very discreet on my nightstand. When sampling through the available noises there is a tone that will play once you have reached the first sound. I do wish there was a bit of a better system so that I can remember which noise I like, without having to count how many times I’ve pressed the button but it does remember the last sound you selected and will play that sound each time you turn it on until you select a new sound. The only other feature I think would be nice is a remote but it’s definitely not a deal breaker without one. Overall I am extremely pleased with the LectroFan and the only time I will ever use a fan at my bedside again is on hot summer nights when the air conditioning just isn’t cutting it.

LectroFan The unit is about the size of an Amazon puck, The box contents include the unit, a power cord that has one end that’s a usb so you can plug it into a docking station or a plugin that accepts usb. The unit will work for American or European 100-240 volts or 50/60 hz respectively. You can choose between 20 sounds (10 fan/10 white noise) The speaker is plenty loud and can be adjusted up/down at 1db increments. There is a timer that can be set from 60+ minutes. OBSERVATIONS: Unit feels sturdy, not a cheap light plastic feel. Rubber feet keep it in place. There are only 3 buttons on the device, Power, Volume and fan/white noise. After powering on unit and cycling through all sounds, the fan noises to me sound somewhat similar, they are different but a few sound the same just louder. The white noise is the same just different DB’s the higher pitch ones are almost ear piercing depending on the volume. Depending on the room size one could use this for privacy if placed near the door. It is supposed to make conversation almost unintelligible to others. I tested the unit all 10 white noise and concluded that from my voice was hard to hear up to 10 feet away in an open room. In a closed office or cubicle farm this may be better. However, this could also make cubicle farm people nearby complain about noise from machine. On the fan side (which I would use more) Fan noise are nice to drown out my teenagers phone conversations and tv noise when in bed. Of the 10 sounds available I like the bigger deeper sounding fans. I really liked the Oscillating fan, the noise gets louder then softer to make you think it is indeed oscillating. In conclusion: This is a nice little set up for those who could use semi private conversations or hide other unwanted noise. The speaker is loud and never distorts. There is not a screen to let you know what number of fan/white noise you are on. You have to cycle through to you hear a whoop to know you are back at the start. In the future it would be nice to have a small screen to see this. When you power down unit as long as power is supplied it will remember your settings. If un plugged it resets. Also in the future if they would add a line in to play music on the awesome speaker would be great. Also the addition of a usb to charge phones would make this a very nice multi use unit. This unit seems to be a very good quality device.

I ended up liking this little thing a lot more than I thought I would. I have used white noise apps on my phone in conjunction with a speaker and I didn't expect this to sound any better, but it does. The sound quality doesn't blow away the phone and speaker setup, but it's more even, which I am guessing is because of the fact the speaker is facing up and probably distributing the sound better. If you are a person who needs something like this to sleep I think it's a worthwhile purchase, especially if you are using a white noise app and just having your phone play the sound. Having the dedicated device is a lot easier than breaking out the whole phone and speaker deal. Things I Liked: The sound is very good and can get pretty loud for how small this thing is. You get a range of white noise options, as well as different types of fan sounds. I settled on Brown Noise #5, which is the 'darkest' of the white noise options and it did seem to have a positive impact on my sleep. Once you turn the speaker on you can set it on a sleep timer as well in 60 minute increments, which is nice. The thing itself is pretty small and inconspicuous as well and since the speaker is facing upward you can tuck into a corner or behind something and still get the sound. Things I Didn't Like: I wish there was some kind of display or indicator on it. There is are white noise and fan noise buttons that just cycle through the sounds without an indication of what each sound is. The manual does give you the list of sounds and you do get a little chime to indicate you've come back to the beginning of the selection, but some kind of knob and/or LED to give you a better sense of where you are would be nice. This is only a minor annoyance for me and I imagine most people as you will probably settle on the sound you like best when you first set it up and leave it from there.

I've been using the LectroFan for a while now and I love it. I need the noise of a fan or I can't sleep at all. I hear every little sound and get zero sleep. I used to use an actual fan, even in the dead of winter. Over the course of time it started to rattle and vibrate which does the opposite of helping me sleep! When I traveled I don’t need to worry about bringing my fan with me. I need to have just a smooth but loud fan sound and that's exactly what this LectroFan gives me. I had tried some phone apps first, but they all had bad sound quality and breaks in the sound loop were very distracting. I knew I didn't want a machine with sound loops, and from what I read this one would not have that. Again, correct. I cannot detect any sound looping or breaks. This little machine is like magic. You have 10 fan sounds and 10 white noise sounds. I prefer the fan sounds, and there are so many to choose from that you will definitely find one that you like. Given that the speaker covers the top of the unit and points up the sound is somehow magically spread out over the room and is much more realistic than a tiny little phone speaker or front facing electronic speaker. The biggest feature for me is the volume I can achieve with this machine. If I can't get my fan sound loud enough it won't help me sleep. This machine CAN get loud enough I love all the fan choices you get with LectroFan. I'm not one to use birds, or the ocean, or rain, or any sounds like that, so this unit is perfect for me But trust me, it works!! I am totally happy with it and recommend the LectroFan highly if you like fan or white noise sounds and want them good and loud!

I don't know what I was expecting - I think probably a larger unit than this is. However, I'm glad it is so small and unobtrusive. It's just a few inches in diameter with 4 rubberized feet and a good heft for the size. It is simple to operate and the plug fits neatly into the recessed jack on the bottom. Just a few buttons control the sound variables - there are many choices and you have to play around with it to find your sweet spot. And there are no operating lights! Thank goodness...I love gadgets, but I'm tired of everything being lit up. This is appropriate for a thing used in a bedroom for someone who may have sleep troubles. There is also a 3-hour timer, if one needs it. There are two sounds - fan and white noise - with the respective buttons selecting through the options for each. The fan sound's options range from a small fan to an industrial machine with the volume control refining the experience. White noise choices range from dense sound to massively dense sound. I haven't found any looping or breaks. The noise you choose never changes, drops out, repeats, or anything until you change settings. The power cord isn't that long, but since I can get such robust volume with this, it doesn't need to be next to me to be effective. My main interests in this are for modulating my environmental noise so I can concentrate while reading, and for sleeping. I live in a small but active neighborhood in the country, and it's almost to the point where I'd love some city traffic noise. It is mainly quiet here, which is nice except every sound is then magnified. Old folks yelling to each other (in a neighborly but annoying way), parents yelling at kids (seems like there's a lot of yelling), little dogs yipping at each other, big dogs talking about something, car doors slamming, trucks backing up, or a thousand birds - though I love them - chirping at 6am, and the cat, at 3 am, needing to remind me that she's there. This helps so much more than the tv, or a fan (I love my fan, but this works so much better). Now I just need to have another one so I don't have to move this one back and forth.

At first I was a bit disappointed in the sounds that this machine makes. I had assumed that this made sounds like waves crashing on the beach. Or perhaps a stream gently rolling by, or rain drops falling. This is not that. This machine makes a total of twenty sounds. Ten are fan and ten are white noise. Personally I did not care too much for the white noise sounds. But I really liked the fan sounds as I usually have a fan blowing in the bedroom just for the noise it makes, not necessarily for the cooling except on hot summer nights. The fan sounds go from a huge industrial sound to oscillating, to a mellow fan. The unit has a volume switch so that you can adjust the sound from barely audible to very loud. Other switches are the on/off that also doubles as a timer switch for 1 hour then it will shut off gradually. The other switch a rocker type switch that you use to select the sound you want. A very cool feature of this machine is that you can plug it into a USB port on your computer, or in my case, my alarm clock has a USB port and I plug it into that. It also comes with an adaptor that you plug the USB power cable into, and then you plug that into the wall for power. You can view the cable and adaptor in my picture attached to my review. The machine is fairly heavy for it's size, a good thing I think as if it was too light, you may accidently push it off your night stand. It also helps that it has 4 silicone type feet to help prevent that. The machine is about the size of two hockey pucks stacked on top of each other. The USB power cord is a fairly generous 5 feet long. This machine is small enough to place in your luggage if you travel so that you can easily fall asleep when your staying in a hotel or even at a relatives house. I highly recommend this unit. It will save wear and tear on my fan and I'm sure on my electricity bill as well.

The Lectrofan is a small, no-frills devices that does well with the basics of masking ambient noise. The combination of non-repeating noise generation and solid-state hardware (no moving parts) sets the Lectrofan apart from most other similarly-purposed devices that I've seen. It is simple enough to use that most people could quickly and thoroughly familiarize themselves with all of the device's features/buttons without looking at the manual. I would like to mention that the non-repeating noise generation is a huge factor for me personally. The noise patterns and cut-off/reset point of looping sounds commonly produced by competing devices pulls my conscious thought into unwittingly following the cycle, which is extremely counter-productive. What follows is a list of nit-picking observations that may not interest most people, and aren't likely to affect the utility of the Lectrofan for most users. - While the sounds generated may be adequate for the task of masking noise, the fidelity is not great. As is common with cheap speakers, low bassy tones are missing, meaning the low hums commonly produced by fans are not approximated by the Lectrofan. - This device does not come with the option of being battery powered. - Some of the fan settings sound similar to each-other (at least to me). - The very unusual heptagon shape of the chassis strikes me as perhaps an odd attempt at subliminally projecting the 'divine number' seven. I find the rounded design of the Micro Lectrofan to be much more appealing. - The text for the button labels has low contrast grey-on-white color which can be difficult to read in low light conditions. - The fan and white noise options strike me as an early beginning for procedurally generated random noise. It would be nice if mimicry of other soothing noises (such as found in many other looping noise generators) were implemented with the same non-looping methodology.

I was excited to receive this as my wife needs background noise to sleep and had been running a fan all night. As this advertised it could not only produce white noise but also fan noises we were excited to try it. After a night of using it the excitement wore off. 3 nights in this was off and the fan was back on. The unit comes with 10 different fan sounds and 10 different white noise options. These appear to be achieved by just shifting the pitch of the base sound. The fan sound is basically just a 60 cycle hum that gets pitch shifted to mimic differing speeds and blade sizes. My wife and I found this actually got rather annoying as it starts to just sound like a loud buzzing after a while. The flow noises the actual fan produced that help break up the hum was not very well implemented, if at all, in this product. Fan mode didn’t survive even one full night. The white noise had the same problem as none of the generated pitches were pleasing after a few hours. The sound seemed randomly generated but only along a narrow band. This became a problem as other sounds bled though quite easily. A white noise generator is supposed to work by softening the background sounds you hear so that your subconscious isn’t disturbed by them. This is done by generating a sound across a large range of frequencies and durations so that individual sounds get lost in the noise. That didn’t happen with the noise generated by this device. The only option we had was to turn the volume up all the way and drown them out that way. For comparison, on the last night we tried our baby daughter’s travel noise generator and found that was a much more pleasing experience. The packaging does suggest using the device to block eavesdroppers. I did not test that, so it might be useful in this case. However I would not suggest it to someone who was trying to use it to help them sleep or drown out background noises.

This product does what it says. It has 10 different fan sounds and 10 levels of white noise that sounds like blowing air at different pitches. Now, one of the reasons I tried this product was help mask the sound of drumming by my percussionist teen but how an industrial fan would sound better than that is beyond me. I found the fan sounds harsh no matter the volume level. I much preferred the white noise as long as it wasn't too high pitched. While it didn't eliminate loud noises, it did cover low level and background noise quite well. I easily went to sleep with it taking away all those night time noises that just seem to make me alert every time I'm almost asleep. I liked that you can set it for 60 minutes so that it isn't running all night. To give equal opportunity, my teen tried it as well and found the white noise harsh and preferred the sound of the fans. So, this is definitely a personal preference situation. It works as advertised and if you are looking for something that will mask background noise, this works fine as long as it is set up close enough as it doesn't help if it is behind a closed door. (Yes, we did check that!) All that said, I think it could be so much more and hope the company rethinks their choices of sounds. Rather than an industrial fan, the sound of a cat purring would do just as well but have the added effect of being uplifting. I can think of so many sounds like that which would be must better than different fans or high pitched white noise yet still get the job done. I received this product to try in exchange for an honest, unbiased opinion.

This unit is very well made, solid and designed well. It is small (about 4" diameter by 2" high) so it will fit on your nightstand nicely. There are more elaborate sound masking machines but not at this price point. It does have 20 different sounds and each sound can be adjusted to the required volume to cover up noises that can disturb your sleep or focus. The sounds cover various fan noises and other noises. You can connect via the included USB cable to a computer port (only to power this unit), or the unit also comes with a 120 VAC USB adapter. I liked the idea that it remembers your last setting when you power off. Also it has the ability to turn itself off in multiples of 60 minute intervals. My wife and I both liked the unit since at times there are noises that it covers including target shooting, fireworks, dog barking and so forth. You just dial in the right noise at the right sound level. I like this more than some units that play soothing music but really don't cover up noise. The manual is well done and helpful to explain the functions since this lower priced unit does not have lots of dials or display data. However it is easy to dial in the sound/volume you want. Note that when you cycle back to the first fan or white noise sound there is a little audible 'beep' so that you know you are at noise position #1; I almost missed that point in the manual but it is explained. This is not a toy, it comes with a one year warranty. Each unit has a serial number and you can register it online. Who ever designed this unit did a wonderful job to cover the functionality and design.

The first thing you notice when you open this is the quality of the build. It is a small unit but feels solid. It has rubber feet that grip. The power cord is usb and comes with a small phone-like charger for power. This also means if you travel with one of those backup battery chargers, this unit works with that too. Two sound machines, then a fan and now this. 10 fan sounds and 10 white noise sounds. The fan sounds are so realistic it’s easy to confuse with the real thing. My favorite is the oscillating fan which truly sounds like its moving back and forth. The three buttons on the front of the unit are toggles. There is a power/timer, fan/white noise and the volume up/down. To set the timer, press the bottom of the power toggle for 60 minutes. Like coins in a parking meter, each additional press gives you 60 additional minutes. Each press of either the fan or white noise toggle cycles through each of the variations for each type. When you reach the beginning, it makes a whooping signal. The most important thing about a sound machine is of course the sound and this little gem doesn’t disappoint. The volume range should cover most if not all needs and gets plenty loud enough. The part that impresses me is the fan sounds. You can hear the motor and the fan blade sounds. The unit remembers your choices as long as it has power. It is also small enough to travel with however, when it loses power it resets to defaults for sound and volume. Also, when you first plug it in, it turns on but this is a user option which can be changed. I definitely recommend this sound machine for anyone who sleeps with a partner that snores or in my case, uses a CPAP for sleep.

I've always been a bit skeptical about these things as I'm both a very light sleeper, but also very easy distracted (the kind of person who has to wear earphone to concentrate - you get the picture). So I received this item in exchange for my honest opinion and I can say I'm surprisingly impressed with it. Maybe it was down to my expectations that this would create some 'cone of silence' around me rather than the reality that it creates a consistent background noise that was the issue. But I took it out the box and plugged it in, and started flicking through the white-noise settings. On first pass they appear to be just creative static you'd get from an old TV - and then suddenly I realized... I couldn't hear the rain dropping on the window frame anymore. Every time it rains its a bug bear sitting in this quiet back room with this persistent tap-tap-tap noise from the gutters, but this thing wiped out the noise. Its an odd sensation but once you get used to the noise, it genuinely covers the background noises that you started to take for granted. It has 10 fan noises and 10 white noises of varying severity and intensity so the trick it to find the one that best matches the frequency of your current 'disturbance'. I havent tried it for sleeping yet, thats the next test - but I'l definitely keeping this thing on my desk so keep me focused throughout the day. I'm sure you could achieve the same thing with an iPhone app or out of the computer speakers but theres something nice an tactile about having it as part of the furniture rather than linked to some other piece of technology.

As a 3rd shifter in a busy ER, I am always looking for ways to get a better "night's" sleep. Previously I had in my arsenal a nice *noisy* box fan to drown out the sounds of daytime whilst I slept. So when the opportunity arose to test out a machine with 10 different fan sounds, I was intrigued, if not a bit skeptical. The actual unit is rather small, which is great for those with less space. The small size does not in any way lessen the volume. Of the 10 fan sounds, only one left me wondering who could utilize it (sounded like an old 1930's prop plane). The rest of the sounds are soothing, and can reasonably drown out any annoying sounds. There is also a selection of "white noise" sounds which can reasonably drown out such noises as well. I must say that the fan sounds are "authentic", and life-like. And are not "looped" like some other products (well, i'm sure they are - you just can't tell they are!). Verdict? If you don't have the room for a giant box fan - this device is perfect for you! I can also see the value in this unit for those that frequently travel, and stay at hotels. Another plus is that it can plug into a normal AC outlet, or a USB outlet. So if your hotel has a USB port on the bedside table - you are good to go!

I've been using a box fan for the last 30 years to generate white noise during sleep hours. This practice began as a means to cover external noises in the neighborhood like traffic and dogs barking, and has evolved into one that is, unfortunately, essential for a good night's rest. Hence, I was intrigued by the prospect of having the capability of generating similar background noise without having to contend with the obvious bulk and air movement associated with having a box fan running. The Lectrofan offers both 'white noise' and fan sounds as two distinct categories, with 10 sound profiles in each category. I have used this unit for several nights and have found just one setting in the fan category that is a reasonably suitable replacement for an actual fan. Many of the fan profiles have, for lack of a better description, an 'industrial' quality to them, which tends to make them much less realistic. The 'white noise' category options are basically just 10 different pitches of the same basic 'fuzzy' sound profile (like you might get on an old broadcast TV that is set on a non-operating channel). Overall, I have found that the Lectrofan is a reasonable option to replace a true box fan with something having a much smaller footprint. Given it's size, it does a decent job of creating background noise. I expect that, since it is much more portable than a real box fan, it would be an excellent option for travel.

I have had the LectroFan for the past week at this point, and my initial experience has been excellent. I use this device at night to aid sleep, and I have not felt this well rested in quite some time. I live in a large condo building that is usually very quiet, and if I awaken in the middle of the night, the dead quiet becomes the object of my mental focus. This seems to keep me awake. My wife’s sniffles and snoring can also prevent me from getting back to sleep. The LectroFan has been able to hypnotize me back to dreamland, and render me blissfully unaware of any other noises around me. As advertised, there are 10 different pitch levels of “white noise” and “fan noise”, along with 50 volume levels from barely audible to annoyingly loud. I appreciate the consistency of the sound production; the absence of variation in tone is perfect for the intended hypnotic effect. I personally like the lower frequency fan rumblings at moderate volume. I could also see how this device could help to prevent distractions in a quiet office, or to create a more private environment for conversations. The build quality of this device is excellent; it feels solid, the buttons work precisely. There evidently is another model that doubles as a Bluetooth speaker, but I have other devices for my music. I am very happy to have the LectroFan on my bedside table; it has helped to improve my sleep quality immensely.

When I first tried out the 20 different sounds, I felt the sounds were not as soft as I would have liked, whether for noise reduction or for sleep aid. To begin, most nights I stay at my apartment or many hotels throughout the country and the neighbors can be very loud at night. Occasionally I have trouble falling asleep or staying asleep and had to deal with the neighbors in the middle of the night. So far I tried 4 nights of sleep using the white noise on the 'LectroFan, and I do not remember a thing after starting the sound and layind down, except that I fell asleep right away. So it seems to work very well. I haven't tested it during the day for work or exercise yet. But I intend to try out a few of the fan sounds soon. The design is pretty compact, much smaller than most other white noise speakers that I've seen in stores, so it can be carried in a bag if anyone travels frequently. The bottom is raised by the subtle lip around the edge and 4 legs that help the unit stay in place on my night stand. The cable also tucks neatly under the bottom of the unit. The USB cable is 55 inches long so even at hotels that tend to skimp on wall plugs, it's not difficult to plug it and have the speaker on the night stand. This is a good unit for anyone who could use some noise reduction/cancellation, especially who travel.

I have never used a sound machine before, so I have nothing to compare this one to, but it is definitely easy to use. There is an on/off button, a volume control button, and 1 button for all the different sounds. One side of the sound button cycles through 10 fan sounds (each time you push it) and the other side has 10 different white noises. This isn't a sound machine that has the sound of rain or the ocean- just white noise. Personally I prefer to sleep in complete silence, but when that isn't possible this device does a good job of blocking out sound. I can't hear the annoying sound from the garage anymore. You can play this device all night or set it to shut off after 60 minutes. I wouldn't use this during the day since I prefer music, but I can see how this would be good for tight work quarters in a relatively quiet environment. The only thing I found this device to be lacking is some way to keep track of the sounds. The differences between the different sounds is very subtle, but I definitely prefer some over others. It would be helpful if there were numbers and lights that lit up by the number of each sound each time I pushed the button. This way I could quickly go straight to sound 5 instead of listening carefully for the sound that's a little more like a vacuum than TV static.

The Lectrofan machine is very small, but packs a wallop in terms of volume. It really works for masking irritating noises outside your environment. It features a choice of 10 different 'fan sounds' and ten different pitches of 'white noise." I prefer the fan sounds, as they sound totally genuine even to the point where if you choose the 'oscillating fan' sound it rises and falls slightly as if an oscillating fan is moving back and forth. It's soothing and will drown out any irritating noise outside keeping you from sleeping or just relaxing. If you suffer from tinnitus or ringing of the ears, this unit can be a godsend as well. Even without actual outside noise, the 'ringing' sound in your head can keep you awake at night, the Lectrofan sounds can mask this and help you fall asleep. The unit is powered either by just plugging it into the wall, or you can use the USB cord to power it by a nearby computer. It's priced less than many other sound maskers i've seen which cost $100 or more. The only negative point I can point to is that the unit doesn't offer sounds of nature, such as rain, river sounds or a waterfall, but at this low price and its power, the Lectrofan is effective very and easy to operate. It'll fit great on a nightstand.

I needed to find a solution to provide white noise for my office at work due to all of the activity that swirls around my office every day. A friend recommended the Lectrofan as a solution. After doing significant research on competing models, I decided to purchase the Lectrofan. After using it for a few days I'm delighted with my purchase. I've experimented with several different sounds on the white noise and fan options. I can change the settings based on the amount of noise I'm trying to block out. After orienting myself with the controls, the Lectrofan was very simple and intuitive. The upward-facing speaker helps disperse the sound around the room. There is a wide variety of frequencies to select from and the sound seems to be realistic. I believe this is a better solution than using my iPhone as the noise don't get interrupted with texts and calls. You can set the Lectrofan to play for 60 minutes, 120, 180, etc or set it to play indefinitely. The sounds can be turned up a lot so I can see this working for a larger room to moderate the sounds in the room. I'm considering purchasing an additional Lectrofan for my bedroom as it may help ease the pain of the neighbors barking dogs!
