I ended up returning the laptop and taking the 15% restocking fee.

Have to fiddle with it, as if it has a short. The screen will dim randomly. Shorting out. It's never been misused ie dropped. Looking at other reviews I see my issues are problems other buyers have had. Too late to return or exchange. But like I said the majority drawbacks with this laptop seam to be a general problem. Guess I'm stuck with it. You get what you pay for.

Posted .With regard to the screen "randomly" dimming or going black, check your power settings within the Control Panel. It sounds like the power management settings you are using are dimming/turning off your screen to conserve power. Try changing your power management settings to one that does not dim or turn off your screen. You can do this in the control panel, in the power management category on your system.
