Not as good as what they promised me
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Have been disappointed since the first week, when the speakers sounded like they were off blasting, what I believed to be a defect, but since I did not buy the squeek insurance it was not covered. Now I have also problems with not having any speakers at all, and the camera stopped working as well. I wish I would have made a better decision!

I really wanted to like it!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I really wanted to like my Yoga 3! As I walked into Best Buy I was immediately drawn to it. Pros: *It feels great to hold and use. I love the size and feel. *I actually really liked the non-traditional keyboard with the larger arrow keys. I would say that I prefer this keyboard. *The hinges are an incredible design!!! I didn't think that I would want the 4 different positions, but the screen was held so secure that I found myself flipping it into creative positions. *Never really noticed the fan or any significant heat. Deal-Breakers: *Wi-Fi is pathetic. Don't get me wrong. It works, it's not defective. However, when my Ipad and Iphone get 2-3 bars, this laptop can't pick up the same router. My older laptops had strong enough wi-fi to pick up from across the street. *Battery life. 7 hours is an impossibility. Even 5 hours was elusive to me. I could get over 3 hours if the screen was dimmed in a dark room, or in tablet mode. I experimented and have yet to find the perfect combination to get more battery life. I love the concept and the design. However, wi-fi and battery life are must-haves when you pay $$$$ for an ultrabook. I plan to return the laptop next week. Maybe the Yoga 4 or 5 will be out when I need a new laptop in a few years. I've ordered a Dell XPS 13 touchscreen with a 5200 U processor. I already know that I will miss the Yoga poses, but at least I know the basics for a laptop are there. I'm recommending because of the hinge design. I'm returning because of battery life and wi-fi.

Great light and fast laptop.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Love the fact that there isn't any moving parts in the computer. I brought the Lenovo home and it was a breeze configuring however windows 8 takes some time to work with. We have had the MS surface for over a year and a half so I'm okay with 8 and the upgrade to 8.1 allows you to boot to the traditional desktop. Microsoft definitely needs to do something, would love if you could get 7 on this thing. I feel the unit is well built and feels solid for such a light weight and thin laptop, the key board is great to work with where the surface key board just doesn't give me the feed back I'm looking for with a computer. The resolution is unbelievable for such a thin screen and the touch feature works just as well as our surface. I also got the Logitech Bluetooth mouse that works great however it just doesn't sync as outlined in the mouse's directions, you will need to go into devices to install and download the software to get the full range of available options. We considered the SP3, MacAir and this 2 in 1 and settled for the way it feels. The over all speed is great, we don't play many games on the laptop but I did my taxes and had obsoletely no problems so don't let some of the other reviews scare you off, this thing is fast! Try it for yourself and I'm sure you'll make the same choice.

Lenovo - Yoga 3 Pro expensive laptop with problems
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Expensive Lenovo-Yoga 3 Pro did not live up to its hype! This expensive laptop is half-hearted un-finished product. Lots of issues with graphics, sound and power. Too many Lenovo background processes keeping the laptop busy, making it slow. The laptop was sent back for repair for the sound issue and was fixed by Lenovo. However they did not care to check for other issues. The laptop if goes to hibernation, it does not turn on. When I got the laptop back, and complained about the power issue, they claimed it was out of warranty! Now I am stuck with an expensive defective product!

I bought this for a sale price of 799 last Monday
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This laptop is amazing. My first impression of Lenovo's flagship Utrabook is very amazing! The build is high quality. Feels luxurious (For the original priice of 1K) Graphics has QHD+ and is very sharp compared to its competitors. Very fast boot time but is a little slow compared to the predecessor Yoga 2 pro. Very light and portable. Keyboard is impressive as well as the touchpad and screen. It has a JBL speakers and pronounces sound well. The first time I played music on it, it had static and crackles but after I installed an updated sond device, it was gone.

Respectable machine
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I'm not going to try and write this as if I'm some laptop expert but, being in the IT field for over 20 years, I've seen my share of trashy laptops/computers and I have to say that so far, this Yoga 3 Pro is NOT trash. I've read complaints about numerous aspects of this laptop and honestly, given the chance, people will complain about anything so, take their complaints with a grain of salt. You have to buy what's right for YOU! I really like the light weight of this laptop. I don't need to connect a million USB devices so, two available ports is more than adequate for me. I've found that the bottom of the laptop, probably where the battery is, tends to get a little warm after about 30 minutes of use so, that may warrant some kind of accessory purchase to combat that. I use my laptop on the train ride to and from work, which is about 40 minutes so I don't have issues with battery life. One complaint I do have is the non-standard keyboard. Not having an INSERT key is...............interesting to say the least. I have to admit that I bought this laptop twice. First time I returned it because of a LOT of negative reviews I read after purchasing it and thought, omg I just bought a piece of garbage but then, I remembered all of the movie reviews by "experts" that were WAY OFF about how bad they thought a movie was when in reality, I actually enjoyed the movie. It was with this reflection, along with the unbelievably sexy style of the Yoga 3 Pro, that caused me to rethink my decision. So, I went back to BestBuy and bought it again............with an extended warranty. I haven't even thought about playing games on this machine because, it's not designed for it! Not to mention, I have a pretty potent desktop with 3-way SLI configured. Not saying that to brag, saying it because people need to understand that you need to leverage the appropriate tool/utility for the job! One size does NOT fit all. :-)

Elegant machine but a bit slow for graphics
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Before I explain why I eventually returned this machiine despite being very impressed, let me give kudos to Best Buy for their effortless return policy and helpful staff. I will not buy online again. I bought this for its elegance: it's incredibly light, thin, cool, beautiful (I love the hinge), super high res, and with good battery life - all for a very attractive price. So, why return it? Only two reasons: (1) the M processor, which makes possible most of the attributes above is, as it turned out, a bit underpowered for the #D graphics design I wanted to use it for, and (2) some of these same 3D design apps couldn't accommodate the high res display properly (even even fiddling with the resolution and magnification settings in Win10). So, it was a useful experiment and I'll likely be buying the replacement at Best Buy, albeit for a bit more.

Battery life is terrible
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Great layout of keypad sharp screen is great as well as how light & thin the laptop is. Major problem for me is the battery life. All I am doing is surfing the web, i do have 5-7 windows open on firefox open at the same time. I am only getting around 90 minutes & I must plugged it in. I was getting around 3-4 hours before downloading the free Trend Micro software that came from this purchase. Apple macbook air my wife get's 8-10 hrs. of battery life. If battery life is important to you I would recommend not getting this computer. Does anyone have any recommendations before I bring it back to Best Buy?

Not really what Lenovo Boasts
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.(1) Intel compares this CPU to a 1st Gen i5 to demonstrate its efficiency. Virtually any ULV CPU (2nd Gen, 3rd Gen, or 4th Gen) can match the same efficiency gains. So what was the marketing genius really thinking, or better yet what was his/her boss doing to better promote the CPU? (2) For those "I Gotta Have the Latest and Greatest" pundits that think this thing is better than last years model #or two years ago# the verdict should only be decided with a fair comparison! I did a side-by-side comparison to the latest Mobile i5 released #same quarter as this "M" Processor# and it may shock you as to what I found. #3# Here is that comparison: Processor Number i5-4278U>>> 5Y70 Launch Date Q3'14>>> Q3'14 Cache 3 MB>>> 4 MB Instruction Set 64-bit>>> 64-bit Lithography 22 nm>>> 14 nm # of Cores 2>>> 2 # of Threads 4 >>>4 Proc Base Freq 2.6 GHz>>> 1.1 GHz Max Turbo Freq 3.1 GHz>>> 2.6 GHz TDP 28 W>>> 4.5 W Max Memory Size #dependent on memory type# 16 GB>>> 16 GB Memory Types DDR3L-1333/1600 LPDDR3 1600/1333 >>>>LPDDR3-1333/1600 DDR3L/DDR3L-RS 1600 # of Memory Channels 2 >>>2 Max Memory Bandwidth 25.6 GB/s>>> 25.6 GB/s Processor Graphics ‡ Intel Iris Graphics 5100 >>>>Intel HD Graphics 5300 Graphics Base Freq 200 MHz >>>100 MHz Graphics Max Dyn Freq 1.1 GHz>>> 850 MHz Graphics Output eDP/DP/HDMI >>>eDP/DP/HDMI # of Displays Sup 3>>> 3 PCI Express Revision 2>>> 2 PCI Express Config ‡ 4x1, 2x4 x1 >>>#6#, x2 #4#, x4 #3# Max PCI Express Lanes 12>>> 12 Max CPU Configuration 1 >>>1 T #temp# Junction 100 C>>>>> 95 C Package Size 40mm x 24mm x 1.5mm >>>>>30mm x 16.5mm If your goal is lower temps and battery life go for the 5Y70 #you may have to suffer through some hesitation if you load the machine with work-ware#? If you want brute strength and can deal with a little more heat and a reduced battery life go with an i5 and stay close to your charger. For me, until they come out with a more competitive model #i5/i7 competitive#, I shall be content with my heat generating, battery draining, i7-4558U and *GB od RAM in my UltraBook. Did I say IRIS Graphics?

If I keep it, it's only for the design and weight
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The processor and battery in this computer are a joke for the price. If you're just surfing and working directly on this computer for daily computing tasks, it seems to handle the job. If you remote into another computer, don't expect it to go smoothly. The wi-fi seems to be inconsistent as well. I haven't gotten the battery to live more than three hours. It's too bad, because the look and feel of this computer are really cool. Did they test this thing before they let it go out the door? One beef with the Best Buy staff that sold this to me. I brought up the Superfish issues when shopping for the computer and they maintained it wouldn't be present on the computer. Granted Lenovo says they've stopped utilizing that program, but the program still came installed on the computer and I had to remove it.

Product Over all 4. Store Service/Knowledge 2
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this laptop yesterday with just a few requirements. I told the store rep I wanted a computer lightweight, a 2 -in- 1, something that could handle large amounts of data for work/school, and that I play the Sims 4. I told him that my old laptop would become incredibly burning hot and freeze and experience issues with the game, and that I needed a laptop that was sophisticated enough for the rest of my lifestyle, but could handle my occasional Sims Splurge. We narrowed it down between this and the Yoga 2 Pro with the i7 processor. He told me both would be incredibly efficient. As a gamer himself, he felt "no concern advising me of either of these 2 fantastic options, as both will run the game exceptionally". He told me he even reviewed the game's requirements and KNEW the computer could handle it!! I spent (wasted) probably 2 hours making the choice at the store. I get home, start making the computer "mine". Moving all my important information over, downloading and installing all of the Microsoft office programs I need for school, anti virus, PAYING for things on THIS computer. As I do this all, I've got the Sims 4 downloading in the background. As it finished downloading, my excitement flourishes, and I click the "play button"....Guess what Folks, the guy at the store 100% lied. This computer, nor any of the 2-in1's, will support the game. I spent (wasted) yet another 2 hours on the phone with the EA help reps as we tried to speed up the processor be disabling features of the laptop. No Luck. I'm not going to pretend I know a lot about computers and technology here...but when I work with someone in your computer/laptop department who tells me they're an intense gamer, I expect them to know what they're talking about. The Sims 4 requires a 2.0 Gigahertz or faster processor, minimum. This laptop has half that at a 1.1....and this "Gamer" 100% lead me towards all the laptops that would never have the processing strength and speed to support the 1 and only game I would play on it. I told him that game was a deal breaker on the laptop I buy. I bought the computer around 1pm, immediately went home and got started on my new toy. By the time I got off the phone with EA support, it was 10 pm. Thank you Best Buy. I've now wasted 9 hours of my life on something that could have been prevented. Now I get to go back to your store today, which opens in 1 hour and 10 minutes. Did I mention we got a huge snow storm through the night? I can't wait. Now I get to waste more time at the store explaining all of this to a manager who won't care and won't do anything to help. The worst part - I LOVE THE LAPTOP!!! Granted windows 8.1 has been a struggle, but I'm willing to learn. But dang, the laptop it's self is great for everything else. It had everything else I wanted, and I'm in love with it. Yet, it's going back because your sales person wasn't knowledgeable, wasted my time, and recommended the wrong product. Honestly, I'm furious.

Not worth the price
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. When reading this, please keep in mind that I *REALLY* wanted to like this laptop!!! The construction is great, it's lightweight, it's full-featured, but when you pay the price for a Ferrari and it doesn't run any faster than a Yugo with a burned-out cylinder, you're a little unhappy! I've set everything to high-performance, and to get videos to play smoothly or to scroll a graphics-heavy web page smoothly I have to turn the resolution down to 1600x900... Now, that having been said, the display is FANTASTIC and shows that resolution nicely, but when you paid this much for a laptop, you expect that it would do everything nicely at it's native resolution! I took it to work today for the first time - with Outlook 2013, Excel 2013, a few web pages (2 or 3) in Google Chrome and streaming some music via Spotify, this thing turned into a regular turtle. Honestly, I have a 4 year old laptop at work that outperforms this one... It's a Lenovo as well,a T520, with a 2nd Gen i5 and 8GB of RAM. You would expect a modern processor to be able to outperform this, but to be honest, the Core M in it runs more like an over-glorified Intel Atom that I had in my WinXP netbook. I am VERY disappointed with the CPU. Not sure if the problem is Lenovo's implementation of the Core M, or if it's it's just what everyone can expect from the Core M, but seriously I'm considering returning this unit ASAP. I'll give it one more day at work and if it flounders the way it did today, It's going back. I've done a lot of reading since I got home today - forget the website reviews, read up on the forums what the REAL users are experiencing. I'm by far not the only one! Lenovo - you still have my faith and trust - we all make mistakes, and based on what I've read today in forums , either this design or this model was yours.

Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I use this for work and some basic website programming. Like the back lit key board. premium device, poor battery, failed keyboard
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased my yoga 3 pro at a retail store end of 2014 as a work device. within a month of using the device, the keyboard began to fail. I sent the device back to Lenovo (under warranty). service was prompt once i was able to locate the correct service number (difficult). although they did fix it, it took over a month. I recently had water spilled on the device (yes - user error!). a vendor diagnosed that only the keyboard required replacement. when they received the first keyboard from Lenovo, it had issues. the 2nd keyboard received worked. as i type on it, the shift key is not sensitive - although this could potentially be a result of the water. i still think this keyboard must have a high fail rate/quality issues, which isn't acceptable for a premium device. the battery also lasts only about 2 hours for standard work (email, internet), and seems extremely poor compared to the standard 6-9 hrs for the comparable priced devices. net net: I would not recommend this device - there are other devices that would deliver comparable speed/function and touch, with longer battery life at the same or lower price point.

It misses the mark.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I preordered the Yoga 3 Pro and sadly decided to return it. The processor is just not quite good enough causing lag when opening programs or simply scrolling more intense we pages. I don't need a powerful machine and that is why I even considered the Yoga 3 - I knew up front it was not going to quickly render video or even photos. But I never anticipated lag when using it only as a web/email/photo sharing device. And those problems exist with it plugged in and running at high performance. When allowing it to manage the power to get better battery life (less than stellar I must say), I felt like I was using my old Android tablet - Stuttering on everything from swipes to scrolling. Otherwise, man, this thing is beautiful and light. I really hated having to return it - Back to my ThinkPad twist...
