I read the reviews about the loud fan before purchasing, I hoped it wouldn't be a big issue for me. After using it for 2 days I am seriously considering taking it back... I am just trying to determine if I want to go through the hassle of returning it and reinstalling my additional software. Also, it is not as fast as I would have hoped. It took almost 15 minutes just to download Microsoft office. Lastly, I'm not too happy with the small "shift" key and having to hold down the "Fn" key to use the "Home" and "End" keys. I originally purchased the HP ENVY x360 but returned it because the 15.6 in screen was just too big. I wish I would have kept it!!! ***insert angry face***

Just picked up this laptop for $549 with the student coupon. For a unit at this price, youd think there had to be a catch. Havent found any yet. The picture quality is great, and it's packed with the latest intel processor. Great laptop for someone on the go

I'm contemplating If I should return this laptop due to the poor cooling fan operations. Even on battery in passive cooling mode, the cooling fan kicks on and off every minute or so, while doing some light internet browsing with just a couple of browser tabs open. Just about doing any kind task triggers the cooling fan on for a minute or two and turns off for a minute, and repeats. Thanks to the diligent cooling fan, the laptop never gets even worm. Functionally, windows runs fine, but the fan kicking on and off constantly could be somewhat annoying. If you are in a quiet room, it could be very distracting. It's 12/5/16, and I have noticed similar problems in several other reviews, and It seems that there is no solution for this problem from Lenovo, yet.

This review is more of a 2.5 instead of a 2. This was my first Lenovo product and I was really excited to take this home and use it. I bought this laptop because it wouldve been the PERFECT laptop that fit all my needs and everything I was looking for. However, I became hesitant because of the reviews of the fan. I understand that it's not THAAAT big of an issue, but if I'm going to spend $700+ on a laptop, I want it to be exactly how I want it to be. I bought it anyways and wanted to see for myself. I get home, turn it on and I hear the fan. I thought it wasn't going to bother me, but it did. The sound and the thought of the fan breaking because it was on so much while being idle made me want to return it, so I did. I went back to Best Buy just 4 hours after buying it, returned it and got something else. I am disappointed because I heard great things about Lenovo and was impressed by their product when seeing them online and in person. I hope this issue is fixed and never happens again to future models.

I purchased this laptop for one of my friend and it is very light weight, elegant and fast. Considering the price of the laptop it's a good one. The only negative about this laptop is fan sound

I bought this laptop couple of days ago on Thanks giving. The laptop is sleek and attractive though it is little heavy compared to others in this series. The biggest problem I noticed is its constantly running fan which has been ON even though I stopped all applications. I rebooted the laptop to clear off everything but the fan got started right away. I then went to the bestbuy site and read some reviews. There are several people who have too complained about this issue. I wish I had read the reviews earlier. I also tried to check the BIOS version as suggested in reviews but found that the all software versions are latest on the laptop. I will probably return the laptop and will buy another one.

I have tried everything. Updated BIOS, power management settings, tried notebook fan controller, but this computer's fan sounds a bit like a boiling tea kettle alerting you to take it off the stove. It is on a lot, which would be fine except for the high pitched noise it makes. Even if it weren't on much, the high pitch fan noise is hard to ignore. I have a flex 4 14" for comparison whose fan is barely audible even with intensive benchmarking software running. The flex 4 screen isn't as bright or vivid, it's a tad heavier, larger bezel, but it doesn't suffer from this 710's poor fan design. In a class room, conference room, I'd be paranoid not to have more than one program open less I invoke the disturbing fan. Lenovo has no fix, it's by design (tried the latest bios, 12/18/16). No wonder Best Buy keeps putting it on sale. Don't believe the online reviews. There's one gloating about what a quiet laptop it is and you can hear the fan on full speed in the background! I couldn't tell if it was coming from my laptop fan again or the video, had to mute the audio to be sure! Otherwise everything about this laptop is possibly superior to most other laptops in this segment, with the exception of the right shift key and the audio. Such a shame I'm going to have to return it for the terrible fan design. I'd be tempted to replace the fan if there was a quieter one available. This fan will raise your blood pressure.

First I'd have to disagree with a couple reviews. This laptop is very quiet, I've not heard any sound coming from it. It is light & perfect size for my sewing room or on the go. Gives you a choice of touch screen, touch pad or mouse (prefer to use if you have one). The only down side is the right shift key, I hit the PgUp button instead.

been 6 years since i bought this laptop, workink few hours every day, travelling with me around the world (8-10 flights a month), still working like a charm!!! using battery conservation mode left the original battery strong till this day!! worth every cent!!

I first liked the look of this laptop and of course the utility of using it as a 2 in 1. However, it is surprisingly powerful for its configuration and have not seen any lag till today. Sometimes the fan noise is irritating but it is only occasional. Tip: Use Microsoft Edge browser if you're playing a 4k video. Because all other browsers fail to play 4k videos smoothly on this laptop.

Highly recommend this laptop for anyone. Best deal in it's class, for the price.

have the laptop for about a week. Best buy representative highly recommended it, so I bought it. overall this is a nice portable laptop with good specifications. However, the cooling fan is loud and annoying, and almost always is on, even with minimal use. Not sure if in couple of months will run into heating problems. Thinking to return.

This is a great computer for browsing the internet, playing simple games, doing microsoft office tasks. The screen is good size and colors are brilliant. Lenovo technical support is great, too (A Windows update corrupted Audio driver. Tech called back promptly and fixed it for us.).

My friend and I each bought one. We have used them for about 2 weeks. The fan is super quiet. You have to put your ear down at the key board to here it. No problem with heat. The only issue is the right hand shift key is small. It take a little to get use to.

I read many reviews before purchasing. The complaints of fan noise concerned me, but this is not an issue for me. In fact, I've never been able to hear a fan. This laptop is the right size and the display is great. Zero issues after a month of use.

Great working, love its flexability. I would purchase this again.

As far as laptops/computers are concerned, this computer is great. It is quiet, quick and easy to use. Keyboard is good except for the misplaced right shift key; this matters if you type with 10 fingers! I bought it in December and do not use it every day. If the computer's battery is fully charged and the computer is off (not hibernating or asleep), the battery will be fully discharged within 4-5 days when you try to turn it on. BestBuy sent it to its service center and the battery? was replaced 2 weeks ago. It was fully charged Friday night but dead today (Wednesday) when I tried to turn it on. This is the only reason why I would not recommend it to anyone.

Even if I could get past the fact that not only my original and the exchanged replacements had audio problems and one of them would not restart, the fan is SO FREAKING LOUD. Exchanged for store credit and will probably look in the Dell, Acer, or HP lines for similar computing power.
