Regarding the fan noise, this is a high performance system with its Dual Core/Four Thread Intel Core i5-7200U processor, 8GB of RAM and a 128GB solid state hard drive. It will generate heat whenever it is turned on, even at idle, this is normal. The onboard fan will maintain the proper operating temperature for the device. You will hear the fan whenever it runs, this too is normal. We are pleased to hear that the performance of the Yoga 720-12 meets your computing needs so well.

Very lightweight, but had battery was bad

But noticed when I charged the battery to 100% and turned it on only once a week the charge was less than 50%. The battery needed to be replaced in the first month I had it. Hopefully the battery will be okay after this.

It is possible the the battery indicator was still learning the actual battery life of this device due to the initial light use it was under. BUT, the fan is rather loud and only comes with one USB port. I got around this with a USB splitter as I'm usually at my desk when I'm using it. I'm on my 2nd one, the first one was defective and had to be returned right away.

You will hear the fan whenever it runs, this too is normal. This is an ultra portable configuration. It has one standard USB 3.0 and one USB-c port. If you need more standard USB ports, you might consider using a USB Hub with this device.

This model ships with a 3CELL 36WH, Lithium Polymer battery, with a battery life of up to 6 hours depending on the work that the device is performing. If you are getting substantially less battery life, be sure there are no unwanted programs running in the background, draining the battery. Here is a link to some tips for finding out what is draining your battery:

If there are no unwanted programs running, to maximize battery life, try changing your power management setting to a more conservative one. You can do this in the control panel, in the power management category on your system. Select a more conservative power management setting to extend battery life.
