Had 2 Lenovo 730s in five days, both were defective, got a refund. Wi-fi wouldn't connect and the laptop was replaced then the screen on that one went dark and died on the 3rd day. Thank you Best Buy for giving me a refund to buy the Surface Pro! Couldn't be happier...now.

We are sorry to hear that you had issues with the Yoga 730-13. With regard to WiFi, this system uses the latest and fastest version of WiFi, 5G 802.11AC WiFi. Although 802.11AC is backward compatible with older b/g/n frequencies, be sure your router has the latest firmware updates offered at your router manufacturer's web site. Concerning the screen issue you mention, this may be caused by a recent Windows 10 update. If the device will not boot, this system is equipped with OneKey Recovery System. There is a very small pin hole on the left side of the device, right near the headphone jack on the device. You will need a pin to push this reset button. Plug the device in. Let the battery charge for about 15 minutes. Push the reset button. The system should boot to a choice screen where you can choose "Restore To Factory Default". Select this. It will delete everything from the hard drive except the original factory install of the operating system. You will need to reinstall all programs and files after the reset. If you don't have copies of the files, try to make one before you restore by selecting "Boot to desktop" and trying to back up your files. Once you have restored the device to factory settings, then scan the device for any BIOS/Driver updates by using the Lenovo Utility software installed on the device. This system has Lenovo utilities installed to help maintain the health of the device and keep the operating system software up to date. Type "Lenovo Vantage" in the Cortana Search window (if Lenovo Vantage is not installed on your device, you can download the APP and install it now). Select Lenovo Vantage from the list. In the window that opens, click on "Health and Support". In the expanded menu, select "Hardware Scan" In the window that opens, select "Run Quick Tests". This will scan your entire system for errors. Follow any directions that may pop up. If the problem continues after this scan, now click on "System Update". First select Windows update from the menu. Scan your system to be sure you have the latest version of Windows 10. Once that scan is complete, select "Additional Updates". This will scan your device to be sure there are no new BIOS/Driver updates needed. Follow any instructions that may pop up. If the issue still continues after these updates, we recommend you call Lenovo Tech Support at: 877-453-6686 for additional help. lenovo

    Good Price-to-Performance Laptop

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

PERFORMANCE: The performance on this laptop is great. Core i5 + 8Gb DDR3 RAM + NVMe M.2 SSD = very nice performance. Boot times are generally seven seconds or less. Good specs for the price. 10/10. Note: Under load, the cooling fans can be a little bit loud but most of the time they don't come on. EXPERIENCE: Keyboard: The keyboard looks and feels high-quality, but it has very little travel and needs a lot of force to press the keys at the beginning (compared to other laptops out there). It took a little bit to get used to and break them in, but now that I'm used to it it's not that bad. The backlight has three levels (off, dim, bright) and does the job well enough, but there's almost no distinction between dull and bright. 6/10. Trackpad: The trackpad is absolutely awesome. It feels super nice and has the perfect amount of travel. If I'm nitpicking, sometimes my clicks aren't registered because I'm clicking either too far to the right or too high, but that's just me. 9/10. Fingerprint Scanner: It's a bit small but still works great. Make sure that when you're registering your finger, you register all sides of your fingerprint. My only complaint is that it's a bit slow to log in sometimes. 8/10. Screen: The screen is nice resolution-wise (1080p), but in colors and brightness it's somewhat lacking. Basically, it stands no chance against the sun shining through your window and directly onto the screen due to the glossy sheen and lack of brightness. If you're using this indoors, though, the brightness should be fine. It might drain your battery, though (more on that later). 6/10. Battery: The battery on this thing is just "meh". It'll get me through a day of school fine, but after I've watched a couple hours of YouTube it'll be almost dead. Also, turning the brightness up will really drain it. But it makes up for all of this with its rapid-charge function, which is amazing. It will go from 0 to maybe 50 in half an hour. Another thing to note is the power button: it's backlit white/amber. At >21%, it's solid white. At <21% it's solid amber. When sleeping, it pulses white. When charging, it pulses amber. Super handy. Because I love the rapid charge and power button, 8/10. Speakers: The speakers are by far the greatest weakness of this device. They're really, really quiet, tinny, with almost no bass. It comes with Dolby Atmos for your headphones though, which is a definite plus. 2/10. Build Quality: Overall amazing. Aluminum chassis that gives just about not give on the keyboard deck, bezels are needle-thin (that's an exaggeration, but they're really small), hinges are sturdy, and the whole thing comes in at about 2.6 Lbs or 1.2 Kg. When closed, it's super easy to tuck into a backpack, pocket on the airplane seat, whatever it is. Some might not like the somewhat rigid edges, but I think it gives it a nice look. 10/10. Service: After a few months of use, the keyboard stopped working. I called for a repair under warranty and the service was just phenomenal. They were quick, effective, provided a handy box for me to ship it to them, and covered the shipping costs. Sadly, it took about a month for them to repair it (shipping time included, which was about 4 days there and 4 days back because I was shipping it across Canada), but I really can't hold that against them after how helpful they'd been. 9/10 Final Verdict: I got this on sale for $700. If you want a bright, vivid screen, a 12-hour battery, loud, crisp speakers, and are willing to pay $1400, go buy a MacBook. But if you're willing to compromise a bit, buy this laptop and save $600.

Windows 10 Home 64-bit Operating System should not lock up or freeze. Be sure any software you installed is compatible with Windows 10. There is no need to install Microsoft Office software. The software is already part of the operating system, you just need to activate the software with a purchased product key. If you have installed a copy of Microsoft Office, this is conflicting with the existing copy on the system and this will slow your system down. If you have installed a 3rd party anti-virus program, be sure that Windows Defender is turned off and that the trial version of McAfee Anti-Virus software is uninstalled. There can only be one anti-virus program on the system. You may need to restore your system to original factory default settings if any of the programming errors have occurred. You can do that by typing "restore" in the Cortana search window. Just click on the magnifying glass icon at the bottom left of your Windows 10 Desktop. Click on "Reset This PC" Then click on "Get Started" and follow the on screen directions to restore to factory defaults. If the problem persists, we recommend you contact Lenovo Tech Support at: 877-453-6686. Lenovo

Worst computer I’ve ever owned. It disconnects from the Internet several times a day. This is a common problem with this model. More recently, it has been disconnecting from my email accounts. It was relatively inexpensive but not worth it. I guess you get what you pay for.

The right hinge was missing one contact point and was not aligned correctly. The two models on the floor had the same issue. This leaves a lot of room for these to eventually bend and either crack the display or no longer keep the screen open.

This system is equipped with OneKey Recovery System. If the problem persists after the factory reset, we recommend you contact Lenovo Tech Support at: 877-453-6686. Lenovo
