I have had the Yoga 730 for about 6 months now and I love everything about it. I love its aluminum construction and quick charge battery feature. I also loved the USB C to hook up to my 4K tv in the dorms to watch movies. Also with the pen I'm able to take notes in class. Awesome device.

Flickering issue in brand new Yoga

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

DON'T WASTE THE 700 AND YOUR TIME. Sigh, I read all the reviews about the flickering and should have known better. Asked the best buy sales guy about it and he assured me the problem had been fixed and was only in earlier models. 2 days after I brought it home the flickering started and the computer screen becomes useless when flickering, sometimes lasts for 5 minutes. Very sad because that is an issue I can't live with and everything else I love about this computer (the size, sleekness, weight, processing speed). The only thing I can be thankful for is that this happened within the return period so I will be headed back to best buy soon and will not be risking it with another Lenovo Yoga. I feel sorry for those that buy the computer and don't experience the flickering until it is too late to return. This model shouldn't be sold in stores until this glitch or mechanical issue is completely fixed. Incredible waste of my time and money.

Screen is flickering after light use in 3 months.

I purchased this lenovo yoga 730 13.3 laptop in July, and I am a very light user, maybe 2- 3 times a week, because I have company laptop. This Yoga laptop started flickering after 3 months, it is like suddenly, the horizontal edges of up and down shrinks to 1 grey line in the middle of the screen, and I have to touch the screen or move the mouse or touch keyboard to get it away. I tried to fasten the screw on the bottom, and update my win 10, bios drive and video card drive, but it still happens sometime. I felt like something really bad happens on the cable that connects the screen. I cannot image this new laptop just flaws in 3 month, terrible. I will never buy lenovo again. I had been using Dell and Asus for years, never had this issues, ever I fell Dell laptop on my ground, it still works as usual. I am very upset with this lenovo yoga 730. I really regret to buy it, I have should buy either Dell 2-in-1 or Asus 2-in-1.

BUYER BEWARE DO NOT BUY. SAVE YOURSELF. DO NOT BUY A LENOVO. So any obvious reader of the comments both on Bestbuy.com or Amazon quickly realizes that the screen flickering problem is a HUGE issue. I got my laptop 4 weeks ago, and wouldn't you know.. screen flickering useless machine. So did Lenovo a large company do the right thing and pull all the laptops with full knowledge that this is a huge issue? No they kept selling them at Bestbuy and other retail outlets. They will say its a BIOS issue, it is not. Its a hardware issue, plain and simple. I will never let anyone I know or in my family ever by a Lenovo given the numerous complaints about screen flickering yet continuing to sell crappy machines to the public. Unreal.

This computer could be great but falls way short. 3 months after buying it I had the screen flicking issue that multiple people have had and I though oh maybe I just got a defective one. So i contacted Lenovo and set up to have Geek Squad fix it under warranty. When I got it back everything has ran great tell last week when the flickering started again for the second time in under a year. Bottom Line: I want to love this laptop for school because its light, portable and powerful enough for everything I need but I can't love it if I can't see the screen. Oh and the normal factory rest and updating drivers does not fix this so don't waste your time its a hardware issue.

The processing power is fine. Screen is fine. Keyboard is fine. Trackpad is fine. BUT...the entire chassis is bent, uneven, or defective. The bottom-left part of the chassis, when in laptop mode, is completely off the ground. It did not start this way, but after 2 days it was bent and will not lay flat on any surface. Super annoying. I've never had this kind of problem with any other laptop or device. Did some searches after the fact and sure enough there are many others using Lenovo laptops with similar problems. This is the last thing I would worry about when buying a device. It's incredibly annoying while typing and there is no way to fix it. This will be my first and last Lenovo purchase.

I was quite excited about this laptop but started having issues with screen flickering just 2 months after purchase. I sent it in for repairs (under warranty), where it was held for a month. Now just a few days after receiving it back, the issue is starting again. Speaking with the technician who fixed the laptop, I've learned that it's quite common. Very disappointed. BE WARNED.

    Many Issues

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

I have had to send my laptop out three times in one year. The first issue was my screen flickering due to a connection issue with the motherboard, which (you would think) would be resolved in the products coming directly from the factory. I do use the touch screen and "2 in 1" capabilities with my bamboo pen, however the laptop experienced a mechanical failure (LIKE WHY.. IT'S MEANT TO FOLD) and broke down the center, which required it to be sent out for another two weeks. The third issue that I have had so far is with Electrostatic Discharge (I live in dry weather) which absolutely SHOCKED my motherboard (lol get it). So be warned of the conductive nature of this computer.. Apparently I need to go get an ESD mat to use before touching my computer..(ridiculous).

after reading the reviews on this product I thought it would be the perfect laptop for college. i’m use to using windows so I decided to buy this over a MacBook. however, about a month into my first semester of college the screen started flickering. it was on and off but one day my laptop became completely unusable. I contacted lenovo and sent in my laptop to be repaired. it took more than 3 weeks to get my laptop back. as a college student I don’t have time to be without a laptop that long. since that incident I have had problems with the wifi not working, the fingerprint scanner not working and i’ve noticed the battery life isn’t what it used to be. go ahead and save yourself the hassle and spend the money to buy a MacBook. I will use this laptop for as long as I can because I purchased it with my own money. but, the second it stops working i will be giving my money to apple to receive a laptop that is actually reliable.

We are sorry to hear that you are having issues with your Lenovo Yoga 730-13. We are pleased to hear that Lenovo Tech Support has corrected the issue with your screen. Concerning the issues you are now experiencing with WiFi, this may be corrected by updating Windows 10 to the latest version. Then updating all of the BIOS files and drivers to that new version of Windows 10. You can easily accomplish this by scanning the computer with the Lenovo Utility software on the computer. This system has Lenovo utilities installed to help maintain the health of the device and keep the operating system software up to date. Type "Lenovo Vantage" in the Cortana Search window (if Lenovo Vantage is not installed on your device, you can download the APP and install it now). Select Lenovo Vantage from the list. In the window that opens, click on "Health and Support". In the expanded menu, select "Hardware Scan" In the window that opens, select "Run Quick Tests". This will scan your entire system for errors. Follow any directions that may pop up. If the problem continues after this scan, now click on "System Update". First select Windows update from the menu. Scan your system to be sure you have the latest version of Windows 10. Once that scan is complete, select "Additional Updates". This will scan your device to be sure there are no new BIOS/Driver updates needed. Follow any instructions that may pop up. Here's a tip for making your fingerprint reader work every time: Try lightly sliding your finger over the fingerprint reader. No need to press hard on the reader, in fact pressing hard on the fingerprint reader will distort your fingerprint and cause read errors. The Lenovo Yoga 730-13 ships with a 4CELL 48WH, Lithium Polymer Battery, with a battery life of up to 10 hours, depending on the work that the device is performing. Once you update the computer to the latest Windows 10 version, then update the BIOS files and driver, battery life should improve. If any of the issues continue after updating your operating software, we recommend you call Lenovo Tech Support at: 877-453-6686. Lenovo

Purchased this computer and had a video cable failure within 2 months (of course...outside the return policy for both Lenovo and Best Buy), all together, within six month, had 3 hardware replacement issues and further issues with operations. Lenovo Customer support is NIGHTMARE to work with, and was told by their corporate rep that "[they] just don't take customer's words".... Now I have an over priced laptop with clear and repeated issues and their Lenovo's only solution is to send it in for 9 days, though upon further digging, I found that their support is spotty and this could take much longer. Save yourself the hassle. Or, if you get this, make sure it's not a computer you rely on for work or school.

I was quite excited about this laptop since everyone at BestBuy recommended me this laptop for school(I'm a student). however, the screen started flickering after a couple of days. I took it back to best buy and they replaced it no problem. then a couple of months of owning the second one, the screen started flickering again to the point where it is unusable. I don't have enough money for another computer since I am a student, but I guess I wasted my money on this computer. I tried rebooting it like best buy recommended, however, the issue is still there and the screen is flickering. I wish best buy was a little more honest as to what computers they recommend since I can tell this has been a very popular issue. I would love to get a refund.

We are sorry to hear that you are having an issue with screen flicker, Because the issue happen with two separate models of the Lenovo Yoga 730-13, be sure any software you installed is compatible with Windows 10. There is no need to install Microsoft Office software. The software is already part of the operating system, you just need to activate the software with a purchased product key. If you have installed a copy of Microsoft Office, this is conflicting with the existing copy on the system and this will slow your system down. If you have installed a 3rd party anti-virus program, be sure that Windows Defender is turned off and that the trial version of McAfee Anti-Virus software is uninstalled. There can only be one anti-virus program on the system. You may need to restore your system to original factory default settings if any of the programing errors have occurred. You can do that by typing "restore" in the Cortana search window. Just click on the magnifying glass icon at the bottom left of your Windows 10 Desktop. Click on "Reset This PC" Then click on "Get Started" and follow the on screen directions to restore to factory defaults. Once you have the system restored to original factory settings, then be sure you have the latest version of Windows 10 on the computer. The update the BIOS files and drivers to that latest version of Windows 10. You can easily accomplish this by scanning the computer with the Lenovo Utility software installed on the computer. I brought this laptop to finish my online NP program (I also work full time). Within two months the display began flickering and had to be sent in to be repaired for a short in the display. Two months later it is now happening again and neither bestbuy not Lenovo is taking responsibility in selling a faulty laptop. I have no time to spare with out a computer and I am sure now that it will most likely break again if it gets repaired. I will no longer be shopping at bestbuy or Lenovo again and will be switching to Mac and apple products for better customer service and products.

I enjoyed using the Yoga from Aug 2018, when first purchased, until Feb 2019. From Feb 2019 it has been a nightmare. Wifi repeatedly disconnects and the temporary fix is to troubleshoot and reset the wifi adapter. I am quite disappointed in Lenovo and Best Buy brand experts whose solution to run hardware scans and update whatever is necessary. Hey Best Buy, I've tried your solution and it DOES NOT FIX THE PROBLEM. As far a the LENOVO BRAND, unless they offer an internal permanent fix quickly by replacing free of charge the poor quality RealTek wifi adapter with a better quality Intel adapter, I will never purchase nor recommend another Lenovo product. This problem has been going on far too long.

Have owned this laptop for less than 6 months and have had constant screen flickering issues. We are scheduled for our THIRD repair and Best Buy does not want to exchange or refund money because I did not buy the protection plan. I should not have to have an EXPENSIVE protection plan for a product that is still under manufacturer warranty. All they offer is to "fix it" again - but that has not worked thus far. Poor customer service. I shouldn't have to pay more money for a business to do the right thing.
