I didn’t have any problems with it freezing (requiring a reset, losing any current work) until September when I started using it more for grad school and my research, sadly past the return date from Best Buy. My device freezes randomly with no indication of abnormal temperature changes, processes started, crash reports, CPU, GPU, or memory usage. I do nothing intensive on the device (sometimes literally nothing), and have actually been finding my phone to be more reliable to search the internet when sitting in front of my own computer. I treat the entire machine as one large scratch directory. Factory resetting and reinstalling Windows has been the norm, instigated by Lenovo support countless times (I tried Windows 11 yesterday, it is a huge power drain and did not fix the problem). I am unable to do anything that requires work on my machine since I can never trust when it will freeze next. I do all my work on servers or the web. Lenovo support initially addressed the problem with the usual paths of checking windows, drivers, resetting, but then they began sending technicians to repair hardware. They replaced my motherboard, and later, my SSD. During the repairs, the technicians did something to cause my screen to be non-responsive to touch and my pen and lose functionality of some keys. Additionally, the service technicians replacing these parts have scheduled and rescheduled numerous times, resulting in me taking time off from work or missing classes to make appointments that end up not being followed through on. They recently suggested sending the device back to the warehouse to fix it, but that would result in me losing my device entirely for days to weeks with no guarantee it will work or be new hardware. Retracing my steps with every Lenovo technician has resulted in hours lost on the phone with no resolution, causing stress and missing school or work. Technicians have failed to follow through on initiating repairs, calling back, or helping me speak with supervisors to voice my concerns. Lenovo has scheduled a screen replacement to try and fix the loss of the touch screen. I am concerned about the repair and if it will cause further issues with my device (and I will have to take time out of work/school again to have the repair expedited). I am sure Lenovo has lost more money building my piecemeal computer than they made selling it (the Ship of Theseus, computer version). Sadly, I do not have that level of disposable income, with this device being the most expensive investment I have made in my future to date (despite school lol). I require a computer for my research, work, and education. I am losing all faith in Lenovo to address this issue. I cannot believe I am having these problems with such a new machine.

This laptop is not cheap and I had it for about 2 months before it froze on me. I took it to best Buy to show them that the laptop had frozen. The laptop was brand new and needed to force shut down. The geek squad told me this is common and I have nothing to worry about. They recommended I just force a shut down and restart it if it happens again. well, it has happened at LEAST 50 more times since owning it. I have had this laptop for 9 months. I regret buying it and am very disappointed the Geek Squad found this issue acceptable. I am a student and a business owner. I will be in the middle of something, and it freezes, and I looks everything. DO NOT BUY! It also does weird things like when I open the internet and then open a new search page, The first page I opened shows through the 2nd page I just opened. Links from the page behind it will pop through. It's bizarre. If it wasn't for the freezing constantly, I would like it, but this is a huge issue, and I basically threw 1,400 in the trash.

Posted .We are sorry to hear that you are having issues with your Intel Evo-Certified, Lenovo Yoga 9i 14, model number 82BG0090US. First, be sure any software you installed is compatible with the Windows version installed on your computer. Additionally, there is no need to install Microsoft Office software. The software is already part of the operating system, you just need to activate the software with a purchased product key. If you have installed a copy of Microsoft Office, this is conflicting with the existing copy on the system and this will slow your system down. If you have installed a 3rd party anti-virus program, be sure that Windows Defender is turned off and that the trial version of McAfee Anti-Virus software is uninstalled. There can only be one anti-virus program on the system. Here is a link to instructions for uninstalling McAfee from a Windows computer: https://service.mcafee.com/?articleId=TS101331&page=shell&shell=article-view You may need to restore your system to original factory default settings if any of the programming errors have occurred. You can do that by typing "restore" in the Cortana search window. Just click on the magnifying glass icon at the bottom of your Windows Desktop. Click on "Reset This PC" Then click on "Get Started" and follow the on screen directions to restore to factory defaults. If there is no incompatible software installed but the issues persist, check to be sure you have the latest version of Windows on the computer. Then update all BIOS files and drivers up to that latest version of Windows. You can easily accomplish this by scanning the computer with the Lenovo Utility software available on this computer. This system has Lenovo utilities installed to help maintain the health of the device and keep the operating system software up to date. Type "Lenovo Vantage" in the Cortana Search window (if Lenovo Vantage is not installed on your device, you can download the APP and install it now). Select Lenovo Vantage from the list. In the window that opens, click on "Health and Support". In the expanded menu, select "Hardware Scan" In the window that opens, select "Run Quick Tests". This will scan your entire system for errors. Follow any directions that may pop up. If the problem continues after this scan, now click on "System Update". First select Windows update from the menu. Scan your system to be sure you have the latest version of Windows. Once that scan is complete, select "Additional Updates". This will scan your device to be sure there are no new BIOS/Driver updates needed. Follow any instructions that may pop up. If the issue continues after these updates, we recommend you call Lenovo Premium Care for additional help at: 888-278-9707.
