I used a 3rd party service tech through Best Buy to instal the lock and it definitely took longer than it should have. This is not entirely a fault of the tech or the lock because my door has been challenging in general.
However, when it comes to the motor, I am a little disappointed with how loose the lock has to be in order for the motor to function correctly. It requires minimal resistance or it will cause an error message and the lock will not function.
It has failed on me during one occasion where I wasn’t able to get into my house. I’ve been paranoid about leaving my keys ever since. However, that has not happened again so I’m hopeful it was a one off.
In general, if this lock functions for your use case I would recommend it. I love the auto lock functionality. That said, if you’re planning to leave for an extended period of time I would still double check it was locked correctly. Fortunately the auto lock function has yet to fail me.

This lock failed on me once and got a replacement and that one lasted less time than the last. I got the one above it, the touch edition and I’ve had it since with no issues. Would definitely recommend the extra money to upgrade

Level Retrofit Bolt more versatile than Level Lock

Bought the Level Lock Bolt Retrofit after having to return the Level Lock Touch . Turns out the Level Lock Touch only fits standard 1 3/4 width doors and did not work with my 2 1:4 inch Front door. Installed using my existing Dead Bolt without a problem which had the additional advantage of not having to rekey. Only downside was not having the latest touch feature of the Level Lock Touch and inability to use their small key fob touch devices. Upside in price as retrofit Bolt was over $100 cheaper for near same functionality!

Works great as a smart lock for my needs. My favorite feature is that no one knows you have a smart lock. For the less tech savvy family members…they can still use their keys.
Only regret is that I should have bought the touch version.

Great idea, but needs improvement

The idea is great, a hidden smart lock that reuses your existing hardware. Unfortunately, the response is slow, relying on Bluetooth connection is good for a stationary but it takes too long to sync with your phone to unlock it. The Wi-Fi connection is closed to useless and at least for me, it always disconnected. I was unable to get the auto lock to work or the proximity lock/unlock.
Another big problem is the alignment. If there is a slight rub on the bolt and the striker it will not lock, so if your door requires a little "wiggle" this is not for you -At least this would not be a good alternative for any outside facing door(s), maybe, it'll work for the garage door for those who have an attached garage.

I installed it on my security metal door knowing it might have some Bluetooth connectivity issues due to the door being made out of metal but it’s quick to response and haven’t had any issues.

Level Lock Enhanced Our Smart Home Setup

I love this Level lock! We have a proprietary double cylinder lock setup and I thought there was no way this lock would work properly inside it. Decided to give it a try and thankfully it worked perfectly. With a double cylinder lock, we were always looking for the keys. Now we just ask Siri to lock or unlock and it works every time. I love how stealth it is. No one knows we have a smart lock. Highly recommend!

I love this thing. Such a small profile and seamless integration into Apple’s HomeKit. The only trouble I had with it is lining up the strike plate.

Bluetooth is very weak. Should be wifi built into the device. Distance is important for this to work which can be often dependent on getting closer.

Beware - unreliable, unresponsive

This product and its app are poorly designed and non-functional. I strongly recommend avoiding it and finding an alternative, reliable product.
Details:
I was excited to find a product that could support a double-keyed deadbolt and also would integrate with Apple Homekit. However, I ended up completely irritated with a defective, unresponsive product that is not even close to ready for release to the public.
Despite numerous adjustments to installation and following all of the online help articles for two different doors, the lock repeatedly gives errors, even when it is fully locked or unlocked. The Level app is painfully slow to contact the door, and always says that the lock is out of range, even when standing next to the lock
My nearest Homekit hub is less than 20 feet, and when controlling the lock via Homekit it takes 20 seconds or more to control the lock. The majority of the time the request times out and nothing happens. Disconnecting from Homekit to use Bluetooth results in the same issues.
I have removed these locks from the app, deleted the app, factory reset the lock (which requires disassembling the deadbolt, reset my phone, re-installed the app, and paired the Level devices again, only to have the exact same problems.

I love my new smart lock! Had to get my handy Father-in-law to help, but he managed. Love the convenience, and that I can still use keys if some family can't manage the app. I highly recommend this smart lock, I even got one for my Dad.

Level Lock is an upgrade from our old August

We previously had an August smart door lock - the big puck version. That worked fine - most of the time - but people would just stare at the door when they tried to exit, confused as to how the door opened. Although it was entertaining, that along with the hit or miss on whether it would connect and auto unlock lately drove us to look for something new. When I saw this fully internal smart lock option, I was elated! It was super easy to install and we no longer have confused guests. I will say that the bluetooth to auto unlock takes more time to recognize you have arrived home. We usually have to walk up to the door, wait about five seconds, and then you hear it unlock. Not a huge issue, but just something to be aware of. Other than that, the connectivity and ability to share with all members of the house and guests has been great, no issues like with the August. Highly recommend!

Have 3 other Homekit locks, but this option makes changing the battery, easy installation and does not distract or advertise its presence. Easy to add and use temporary access users to the lock. Glad to purchase and install in my new custom front entry door without taking away from the craftsmanship of the door.

Excellent smart lock. No bulky modules to place on the door. Completely discreet. May need to purchase a smaller strike plate if the stock one doesn’t fit (which most likely won’t fit). Wish they would have included both size strike plates for the price charged.
