Customers are saying

Customers are impressed with the 4.5 Cu. Ft. 8-Cycle High-Efficiency Top-Loading Washer's quiet operation, cleaning power, and large capacity. Many appreciate its ease of use and the effectiveness of the spin cycle, resulting in less water remaining in clothes after washing. However, some find the washer's depth to be a drawback. A few users also commented on the absence of an agitator, with some expressing preference for or against this feature.

The machine is too tall for me, I can't reach the clothes in the bottom of the tub without a stepstool. Not good for a senior.

This machine is AWESOME! HUGE capacity for all our laundry, including queen-sized bedding. The settings are easy to figure out and use, and it is whisper quiet. I placed my order online, and everything went fantastic. Delivery was as scheduled, and on time, early in fact. The delivery crew were great, they were very nice, and extremely fast!

Only had it for two weeks as it was returned for being defective. Only used it for 2-3 washes. It only used extremely HOT water on all cycles chosen (cold, tap cold, hot) and because it was so extremely hot - it would make my floors wet - good thing I didn't have wood floors there. Also because it was so extremely hot - the computer part (in the front) became foggy. This scared me from purchasing another one of these - I could see future computer problems with it! I chose a different brand (not samsung either :-)

    Love this washer

I just replace this washer from a front loader. I love the top load washer so much more and no more yucky smelling clothes. The inside is very large and I have been able to wash comforters with no problem. The tub is very deep, I am 5ft 6 in and I can just about reach the clothes at the bottom so if you are shorter then you may need a step stool. Anyway so far I love this machine.

I couldn't wait to get rid of our Kenmore front loaded to replace it with a new HE top loader. Our choice was between an LG and a Whirlpool based on reviews and past experience with other products we've owned. . So far I'm happy with my choice of the LG WT1501CW It's a very quiet work horse and gets our clothes clean. We put it to the test with my husband's work uniforms and it passed with an A+. Only downfall is that you need to be tall or have long arms to grab the small items (socks) from the bottom after a wash. I'm 5'6 and I have a bit of difficulty but no huge deal. I love the sleek modern design with the controls towards the front.

LG Washer malfunctioning after just 3 weeks

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

I bought this highly rated top load LG washer on Feb 22, 2016 to replace my Samsung washer which broke down due corroded Spider (literally crumbled into powder) in just 4 years. This LG washer comes loaded with features or atleast buzz words (SmartDrum, Motion, Anti-Vibration, TrueBalance, SmartDiagnosis, SmartPhone app to name a few). But I bought it mainly because it is a top-load and so I trust it does not have the spider corrosion/mold problem in all front load washers. I followed to instructions to level the washer side-to-side and front-to-back, but the instructions are useless because the washer does not have any flat level surface to place the washer on. Top surface is all curved and sloping. How do they expect anyone to level this thing?. But I got it leveled as best as I could. After putting clothes in, powering up the washer and selecting wash cycle, the washer does some moves called "load sensing" for several minutes which I have never seen a washer do before. Not sure what the point of this as it does not seem to make any difference. It is disconcerting because you don't know what you are supposed to do. Wait for 5 minutes in front of the washer each time you start a load? Today I put a thin twin comforter and about 10 pieces of small clothing (underwear, socks) and started the washer. I selected the "Bulky" cycle as this is what you are supposed to use when washing comforter. The initial estimated time was about 1 hr, 15 min. About 50 min into the cycle, the washer started displaying error code "UE" which means unbalanced load. I redistributed the clothes and started again. It ran for another 45 min or so and ended up with the "UE" again. So I removed the comforter still dripping wet. With the remaining few clothes I restarted the washer thinking it will finish the spin cycle. Now the washer drum started wobbling violently and banged against the inside of the cabinet. The whole washer started shaking on the outside as well. Immediately I turned of the washer and called LG service. They asked me to level the washer. The washer is impossible to level (apart from the aforementioned lack of flat surface to place the spirit level). If I center the tub, then the spirit level is off center. If i level using the spirit level, the tub moves off center. LG Service than assked me just center the tub, and not worry about the spirit level. Then they asked me to select the "Spin Only" cycle which is meant to spin the drum without adding water. The estimated time was 17 min, but about 10 minutes into the cycle it started adding water, and raised the estimate to 20 min. Then this happened again at the 10 min mark. At this point the washer is filled with water and a few soaked clothes. In the Spin Only cycle, it shakes violently during spinning and when not spinning, it keeps adding water when it most definitely should not!! Even LG customer service was perplexed by this behaviour. Now they have asked me not use the washer until they can send a technician in 5 days. Not very convenient as we have lot of clothes to wash every day. I read through the manual and found a number of "nifty features" that don't work. For example the manual says it has a safety feature that will drain the tub of any water if the washer was halted/paused for more than 4 min. Not happening on my washer. Because of this clever auto-drain feature, there is no manual drain pipe on the washer which was common on older washers. I had to get a bucket and mug to get all the water out. Very disappointed with this washer malfunctioning after just 3 weeks. It seems that all the appliance companies are more interested in adding buzz-words and complicated technology to impress people but don't pay attention to ensuring that washer functions reliably. All these smart features like TrueBalance, SmartDrum are useless if your washer starts vibrating violently with a light load and just quits leaving you with a tub half-filled with soap water and no drain pipe to empty it. I never thought you would need to baby-sit a washer but I think that is what this washer needs. You have to stay close at hand to constantly rearrange load or attend to error codes. Finally a word to rating agencies who generously dole out 5 stars after using a washer a couple of times. There is no study or ratings on how the washer is expected to work after say 4-5 years. It is not ok if a highly rated washer is prone to malfunction/disintegration after warranty is over. Fortunately (!) for me this washer has started malfunctioning well before warranty expired so I have some recourse.

    Company Integrity

I bought a washing machine (Model WT1101CW) in July of 2014. I bought the product new and it was used by one person during the length of that time. It recently gave me an “LE” error. I had the product looked at by a technician and he diagnosed the problem as being an electronic control board or wiring harness. Fixing these problems would have costed me $350, very closely resembling the cost of a brand-new washing machine. I called LG customer service to inquire about why the machine, only being 3-years old, would require such extensive repairs. I wondered if LG only expects their products to last 3 years for a single user, to which they did not have a good answer. I spoke with an agent who ensured me they would take care of the problem. The agent initiated and an extended warranty on my product stating, “It will be no cost to you for the warranty and it will cover all the necessary repairs to your machine.” He instructed me to wait to hear from a representative to complete the process. I never received a phone call but did, however receive an email stating, “We apologized that you are having problem with you washer. After reviewing the case the washer is too far out of warranty for assistance.” Not only was this a surprise to me but also the grammar was that of a grade school student. Simply not professional or adequate for such a large company. I called to follow up about this email thinking it was an auto-reply and that we could work together to resolve my issue. I spoke with Erica (ID: 10255) from the Extended Service Team and she instructed me that they would not be able to fix the product. She could not have been less empathetic to my plight. She was a cold stone wall that did not care about the customer at all. I have nothing good to say about their customer service. So, after a week of hassling with their customer service department, I have nothing to show for it but an appliance which lasted a single user only 3 years. I was told by an employee at LG that the problem would be fixed and they did not keep to their word. Do not trust anything they tell you. They have no problem breaking promises to their customers. The bottom line is the only thing that matters to them. I had planned on replacing all my kitchen appliances with LG products valued at over $3500. I know many individuals in General Contracting and will be advising them of my experience with LG and their customer service. LG has lost life time of revenue from this customer and everyone I know; albeit over a service call which would have costed them less than $350. Please let this serve as your warning for doing business with LG; a company which lacks empathy for their customers and has wrongly misplaced their core values in their bottom line.
