    This machine replaced a US-branded HE top-loader that broke in 3.5 years. By comparison, this LG washer is quieter in every part of the wash cycle, more effective at cleaning large and small loads (while being more gentle on fabrics), and just as efficient with HE detergent. Controls are straightforward and cycle options are sufficient for our needs. It cost more than our top-loader, but we hope it will be more durable. I guess the upside of having chosen the top-loader is that we truly appreciate this front-loader now.
