Finally a washing machine that actually cleans clothing with plenty of water. I have been suffering with a prior front loader for 6 years that had soo many problems from day 1. I researched every machine before deciding on this one. I will NEVER buy a front loader again. Hallelujah! This machine fills up right at the top of the clothing level. It’s actually a GENIUS washing machine, some how it knows how much clothing you have in it and adjust water according to the load, no more, no less no matter how large or small the load is. The agitator works fine too. At first it’s in slowww motion and seems like it’s not enough to stir the clothing up, after a few minutes the agitator adjust according to the load and gets stronger/faster, the clothing start to stir and move from top to bottom. It does a decent job in getting our clothes, towels, bedding, pillows clean. The tank is large with plenty of room for bigger items and larger loads. The balancing and spin also adjust according to how small or large the load is and THANK GOD this one does not walk across my floor as if it’s possessed. it’s very stable and smooth during the whole cycle. I also love that I can pause it at anytime and throw something else in it even though it is full of water. You can’t do that with front loaders. so far I am very happy with this machine and happy I decided on it. hopefully it will not break down early like most new things these days.

Awful Software Design, Overall Great Machine

The Good: I have had this product for two years (and the matching dryer) and my clothes come out smelling great, clean, and soft every time. The washer does an excellent job of moving clothing articles around, so much so that when tying gym shorts drawstrings together, they come undone. Stains are removed, clothing does not get damaged as others have commented on. If you select the right settings and use the water plus feature and are never impatient, you will likely love this washing machine. It has every possible feature you could want. The Terrible: Hundreds of products are being made so energy efficient so they can be energy star recognized, that they end up being crappy products or have design/software flaws. This washing machine "detects" the volume of clothing in the machine and dispenses the "right" amount of water. Many newer systems do so, but usually they have a "full tub" button where you can just press "fill tub completely" at any point and go on with your business. Not with this machine. In no cycle is there enough water, ever, to even remotely wash the clothing, disperse soap/create suds. LG will defend themselves saying the water plus feature allows you to add more water to the cycle. However, after talking with LG support, this is what you must do every time to get more water to dispense into the machine. 1) Select Cycle, add detergent, softner, and clothing, close lid. Press play/begin. Let sensing function begin and wait 5 minutes while the machine tosses and turns laundry to determine water level. After waiting until the sensing cycle has moved to the wash cycle, you must hit pause, hit water plus. The washing machine then begins to redistribute the clothes and eventually adds more water. The problem is, with just 1 'water plus' addition, you still do not have enough water for the clothes in the machine. So you have to continue waiting for the water to finish dispensing, press pause again, wait for the machine to come to a standstill, and hit water plus again. You must do this 3 times to get enough water for anything more than a small load. Furthermore, only certain cycles let you choose water plus. The bedding cycle uses the most amount of water for your sheets, but if you try and do 2 sets at a time, you still end up needing more water. You can not hit water plus before the cycle starts. The machine lets you do this functionality wise, but it will not create a different result in terms of water level. The workaround: Most people will use the normal setting for most of their clothes. What I have found is that if you select normal and let it dispense all the water it's going to dispense, you pause the system, reselect normal and start all over, essentially doubling the water (this is important for bedding cycle when you can't use water plus). Conclusion: The machine works well and cleans your clothes. It is infuriating that you have to spend 15 minutes each time to do laundry to tell the machine to use more water. Also, the timer is rarely accurate because once again, it senses the needs of the clothes so when it says 15 minutes, it will almost always add more time. If you aren't bothered by this process, you will like the machine. For the amount of money, you can get a less complicated, more industrial washer that does not have the water-efficiency aspect.

Addicted to the new steam function - it cleans well. Pros: I fit a feather bed topper in it for washing, something that I was unable to do in other top load washers. The Bright Whites cycle is great and cleans much better than my old washer. Can save one set of cycle settings as a custom program by holding the program button for 3 seconds. Cons: Will tangle items with ties such as aprons. If you can remove the tie first, both parts can be washed without issue. Not a fan of the bedding function as is, but was able to increase the wash temp, the spin, the soil level, and added turbo steam - much happier with those settings. Like any new machine, it takes getting familiar with using. Have successfully used for feather bed topper, dog beds, jeans, t-shirts, sweaters, bedding, towels, etc. Very happy with the results.

This washer was recommended to us by a friend and I am so glad we listened. This is a great product. It's very efficient using only just the right amount of water. It's very quiet and we've never had a problem with clothes not getting completely cleaned. I definitely recommend.

I'm only giving this washer 4 stars because we had to actually replace the first washer that we received. The first washer made a horribly annoying squeaking noise. We only had the machine for a few days before calling to have it diagnosed. The service tech at first said that it was something that we would just have to get used to, but I was not in the habit of getting used to something that shouldn't have been there in the first place after spending so much on a brand new washer. Then the tech said it could be the suspension rods and ordered new parts. The tech came out again to install the rods and he wiped the inside mat down which seemed to be the issue. The rods weren't needed and he left. More loads were washed and the squeaking noise came back. Mind you, it was squeaking on every cycle and I have a small one level house. The noise could be heard throughout the entire house. The service tech called to see how things were going and I informed him that the noise came back. He put in an order to replace my washer with another. We had to take off from work again to have the new washer installed. The new washer is so quiet, as it should be! We are down to washing two loads of clothes each week and that's saying a lot for my family of five. I'm 5'4 and the tub is deep, but not too deep that I feel like I'll fall in to reach that last sock at the bottom. If I had the second washer first, then I would have given a five star review because this washer really is a step up from my amana front load.

I was wary of the new top-loaders without a spindle agitator, but now I have been shown. These machines are extremely competent at washing clothes. They use electronics to create many different types of movement in the tub. It is fascinating to watch. Our clothes are definitely getting cleaned very well. There are so many different cycles to use that I can get whatever water level or type of agitation I feel I need. The machine seems more gentle on clothes than an old spindle agitator machine. We are totally satisfied several months into using this. And we are not worrying about the potential of a mold problem that we felt a front-loader would have posed.

I waited 4 months to give my review. The washer has large metal tub,no agitator, that washes a queen size comforter. You can see the strength of the spin cycle when selecting wash setting. The spin cycle takes out so much water from clothes, they dry faster. Every cycle has a countdown so I know exactly how long the washer will run. Chime sound when wash is done. There is a Tag On feature that allows your smartphone to self diagnosis any problems the machine may have.

Built very strong, lots of cycle options. Love the very high spin selection. Great to be able to program your tailored options, with the custom program feature. This machine is built like a TANK. Cleans far better than my previous Maytag. Plus it's awesome to look at. Even the bestbuy appliance rep. said he wished he had bought this particular washer instead of the one he recently purchased for his family.

The washer / dryer combo was delivered a month ago and so far we have had zero issues. They are extremely easy to use, extremely low noise, and based on other brand combos we've had throughout the years, these are our hands down favorite. Highly recommended.

I give it a 5 not only because of how fast and well the washer was installed, but because of how simple it is to use and because of how nice the steam performance is. I would definitely recommend to a family that washes often either medium or heavily. Very impressed and the stainless steel color is pretty.

    Rusted out!

Purchased this washer thru Best Buy. The washer itself cleans fine and you can put large loads in it. But after just over a year we noticed the finishing the top starting to peal up around the chlorine filler and the inside of tub. Within a couple of months the chlorine filler fell thru it’s hole. LG refused to do anything about it except to send a repair man at my expense since it’s out of warranty. BTW the extended warranty we had purchased didn’t cover it either as they said it didn’t effect the washer from working. I guess water dumping out and onto the floor is considered working. Will certainly never by an LG product again. Replacement part can be found online for about 200 dollars and takes weeks to get. After pulling the top of the machine apart I can see that the rust is much worse than I had expected it would probably be cheaper to just by a new washer and give up on this one.

Rust in the dispenser area is usually the result of detergent residue that is not wiped clean. The detergent can erode the finish if not cleaned immediately. When filling the dispenser, be sure not to overfill or spill the detergent or other additives. The dispenser area should only be cleaned with warm water and a soft cloth. Additional information regarding rust can be found in the following help library article: https://www.lg.com/us/support/product-help/CT00000305-1337710487924 ^CP LG

I have had this washer for less than a year and have had issues the past four months. My black clothes come out with white spots. I have contacted the company various times, and they have brought technicians to my house and have tried to help me over the phone with no resolution. Now two months out and still am receiving spots on my black clothes. For the amount of money that one would spend on this washer, there is no need for issues within the first year. I have changed my detergent, have added more water, and still, nothing has changed. I know now that they would prefer to waste my time sending a technician that would not come on time or not come at all. I would not recommend this washer to anyone. Dealing with LG, in general, has been stressful, making this the last time I would purchase an LG product.
