Nothing special: just a stereo (2-channel) music rig. I picked up a decent Insignia stereo receiver and this player. It is VERY basic: two analog audio outputs and one composite video output. It plays both DVDs and CDs, but remember that she was not interested in the movie function, so the serious video limitation is meaningless. Ditto for the audio outputs, because a two-channel analog output works just fine for her limited needs. Interestingly, I have a special test disc that evaluates error-correcting abilities with CD playback, and this little player scored as high as any other player I have ever auditioned, including some pretty expensive ones. The sonic benefits of this are nil, but it was still an impressive showing. If you want a budget CD player (not interested in video) and you do not mind that it does not have a digital output for an outboard decoder, this is a nifty item, especially for the price.
