I purchased this switch to combine with the Linksys Velop to give me a few gigabit ports to hard wire my Smart TV and consoles.

    Poor Design

Haven't even hooked this up yet. Pulled it out of the box and realized that the ports and power plug are on opposite sides of the unit! What?? And the indicator light is on the same side as the ports which doesn't make any sense as this is the backside of the switch. Should have looked at the pics better before buying. Poor design. Will be exchanging for the Netgear model.

    Works well, noisy adapter

This switch works well as it does not bog down our internet speeds while allowing us to connect multiple Ethernet cables in one room through a single wall port as the router is in another room in the house. The issue I have with it is that the ac adapter used to power the switch makes a high pitched noise. You may also be able to get a similar switch for a cheaper price, I just didn't want to wait for shipping at the time. Overall, reliable and works well, but the power adapter has an annoying noise.

      Hi, WesternAce,

The power adapter should not make a high-pitched noise. To isolate this challenge, we suggest that you try to plug the power adapter into a different outlet. If the same thing happens, please email us your contact details at [email protected] so we can further check it. Indicate the link to this review for our reference.

The lights stay on all the time and are hard to hide. Makes a sort of humming noise too.

    Didn't work consistantly

First plugged it on, all was well. After a few minutes, my Vonage modem stopped working. Plugged modem into main wireless router, all was well. After several hours, I plugged it back into switch and same deal... Worked great for a while, then failed. Started experimenting and same was true of my Phillips Hue. Then same was true of Samsung 12 channel video security system. In all, I probably got a lemon but it is souring me me on Linksys.

      Hi, Posted1,

It's good to hear from you and know that this incident is an odd one. Adding the switch to your network should not affect other devices. Please email the link to this post at [email protected] for further assistance. Our Escalation Engineers will double-check the condition of your device from there.

...or close to it. I bought it on Saturday and it died on Monday. The power light worked but all the ports quit at the same time. Linksys has a good reputaiton and I have had good luck with them in the past. But on this one occassion, the device completely failed almost immediatley.
