I'm using this because my router is located in the center of the home (tucked away in a closet) but i want my xbox and home office to be connected via ethernet that is in a room half way across the house from where the router is located. I ran an ethernet cable from the closet where the router is located, in the attic, to my game/office room. I'' using this in the game/office room and the switxh has been working perfectly. I have 2 ports left should i need to connect anything else in the room via a gig ethernet.
