There could be several devices sharing the bandwidth which stops you to go very far from the range extender. Try to see if the connection allows you to go far if only a few devices are using the internet.

It is recommended to place the Linksys RE6500 midway between the router and the area without Wi-Fi. Also, make sure that it will get at least 50% of the router's connection.
