This isn't the expected behaviour of the RE6500 range extender once running to the latest firmware and getting an optimal signal from the main router. The Linksys RE6500 allows you to repeat the wireless signal of any access point or router to provide Internet connectivity in hard to reach areas. We suggest you plug in the range extender midway between your router and the area without Wi-Fi. Be sure you have at least 50% of your router’s Wi-Fi signal at that point on the device you used. In case you encounter some difficulties with it, please do not hesitate to let us know over email at LinksysCares@linksys.com with your contact info and the link of this review (for reference) – so we can have you assisted with our Escalation Engineers.

Ultimately, this effort failed. I returned the product for replacement, but was obligated to spend $14+ at UPS, and have my credit card put on hold for $110.00 while my shipment was enroute to Linksys Returns. I have not received the replacement yet (three days), I am completely turned off from all future Belkin/Cicso/Linksys product purchases. Is there a way to give this product a zero stars rating? They do have five star technical support, and I have dealt with a knowledgeable and very patient technical representative.
