Great Improvement in Coverage
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.My Linksys WRT1900ACS is located in the back of my house in my office while most of my devices are located in the front of the house and rely on WiFi. Because this is an older house it contains lathe and plaster walls which do not lend themselves well to WiFi propagation. Close a door and the devices in the front of the house can barely stay connected. I decided to pick this unit up to see if I could gain better coverage. This product exceeded all of my expectations. My initial setup was not ideal and this range extender corrected any shortcomings. Before the extender my PS4 was reporting 4.6 Mbps. After I connected it to the extender it was reporting 23.4 Mbps! Since then I've had far fewer issues with lag and buffering is nonexistent on PlayStation Vue! Setup was a breeze and performance is excellent. Additionally, the unit is nice and compact. I had no trouble finding a home for it that was out of the way.

This unit is designed to repeat the wireless signal of any access point or router to provide Internet connectivity through a wireless connection on either the 2.4 GHz or 5 GHz frequency band. If setting up the RV signal requires Wi-Fi connectivity, the range extender should help improve its connection.

Physical obstructions such as thick walls may one of the cause why your Linksys RE6500's Wi-Fi is not extending to the other rooms in your house. To achieve reliable Wi-Fi connectivity, we need to make sure that the firmware that your extender is running on is up-to-date and no signal interference on its current location. Thanks for sharing your experience. The behavior that your range extender exhibits is very unusual, and it defeats the purpose of expanding the coverage of your wireless network. Allow us to make this right for you. Do you happen to know if your Linksys repeater is running on the latest firmware version? To achieve maximum wireless coverage, we suggest to reflash/upgrade the firmware of your device, followed by resetting and reinstalling it. It is also recommended that your range extender is getting at least 50% of your router’s Wi-Fi signal and is located midway between your router and the area without Wi-Fi.

To maximize the coverage of the range extender, it is best to place it between the main router and the area where you want to extend the network. Also, make sure that the device has a direct line of sight to the main router to have a stable connection.
