The range extender is easy to set-up. Does boost the wireless signal on the other side of the house as advertised. With all of the wireless devices of the average home today, this little gem gets your wireless TVs and other devices up and streaming. Gets rid of that irritating load circle right in the middle of a great movie!

So I bought this extender because my previous extender just wasn't reaching far enough in my house. The signal strength has been pretty good on this extender being that my router is all the way in my basement. My only complaint is that the connection goes out every 2-3 months where it cannot connect. You simply have to unplug it and plug it back in. Nothing difficult but I'm still trying to figure out why.

This is a reasonably priced range extender that is extremely easy to set up and does boost the signal of your router in my case allowing for full signal on the second floor of my residential house. However I'm not sure if it works with other routers since my router is a linksys

The first one came with no antennas in the box, so I had to return it (not the store's fault). The second one had all the necessary parts. It was very easy to install and sync up to the router network. We get great Wi-Fi signal throughout the house and even into the garage now.

Our internet comes in through the furnace room - and that is where we have our main wifi router. The signal was not strong enough throughout the whole house. After we added this extender, it has been GREAT! Just be sure to unplug it if you need to re-boot your main wifi system. I have found that if you allow the main wifi to re-establish prior to plugging in the extender, the wifi becomes much happier!

I'm glad that I bought this range extender. I was replacing a different brand range extender that was at a lower price point. My old one was easy to set up, but my iPhone/iPad would constantly have to search between the main house wifi and the extender as I moved around my house between floors. This new one is seamless everywhere in my house. Only negative was I had a little trouble with the set up.

I like Linksys products because of the web interface and ease of changing options. This extender was easy to setup and connected to the AC1750 router flawlessly. Having used it for 9 months it does an excellent job of amplifying the signal with no issues to date.

Price to performance makes this a good purchase. If you can wait and get online for a discount - so much the better. The setup was simple and easy. I needed it mainly for the LAN ports since the internet was in a fixed location on the opposite side of the house. Additional benefit was extended range through the back yard for tablet and smart phone. TWO CAUTIONARY NOTES: 1) Although you can change the log-in password (SHOULD BE REQUIRED), the log-in ID is blank and can not be changed. 2) The default IP address 192.168.1.1 may conflict with your router. The Linksys did NOT automatically load and the IP conflicted with router. The Linksys did NOT show-up in the network section since setup was not run. THEREFORE, You may have to change the default IP address of the router before accessing the Linksys in your browser to initiate the setup. Once setup was initiated, everything ran smoothly.

      Hi IMNetUser,

Your valuable feedback on the Linksys RE6500 is greatly appreciated. It is true that the extender's default IP address is 192.168.1.1. If you are using the wired setup process, plug the extender directly to a PC (not to the router) then access the extender's page at http://192.168.1.1 from the PC. If you plug the extender to a laptop, we advise that you turn off the laptop's wireless connectivity before accessing the extender's page.

If you opt to use a wireless setup process, connect your wireless device (phone, laptop, tablet) to the extender's wireless network and follow the on-screen instructions. Once configured, the extender's IP address will be changed from 192.168.1.1 to that of a DHCP IP address assigned by the router.

Let us know if you need a hand with your Linksys device. Email us at LinksysCares@linksys.com anytime.

Since we have had this product the frustration over computer access has stopped. No longer having to use the office computer, but can use our lap tops and family computer without any problem of connectivity. The Wi-fii range is excellent with easy hook-up.

I've had this for about a year now. This is easy to set up and does a great job to boost the signal. It's nowhere near as good as the original wifi signal, and don't bother using the Ethernet ports. It now has to be reset every few days to keep a strong internet connection.

Previously I bought 2 other extenders and could not get them to work so I returned them. After a few months I decided to go into Best Buy and see what other extenders were available. This one was recommended for what my needs are remembering that the research I did on extenders said that extenders might reduce wifi signal over all. NOT what I need to happen. Decided to try again and bought this one expecting to go through the same dissappointment as before. Plugged it in and it went through the boot up process white light blinking then yellow then steady white. This thing was up running on it own before I had a chance to finish reading the quick start guide. No button pushed either. Before set up I moved my AT&T Gateway closer to my stairs and had low signal strength on upstairs Fire sticks... lots of buffering. I set up extender in different rooms and found the sweet spot with good to excellant signal when located in the upstairs hall way. My phone shows my AT&T Gateway ID and same AT&T Gateway ID with .EXT after. My streaming devices set up is ATT Gateway ID for downstairs and AT&T Gateway ID.EXT for upstairs Now no buffering because of low signal.

Easy to set up. Good instructions. I have this positioned in the front window of my motorhome that sits across the street from the house the router it connects to is in (I have their permission) and I experience good quality signal strength.

Solved a fairly esoteric problem (ham radio)

I'm a licensed amateur radio operator (Callsign N2GJ). My ham shack is in my basement, beneath and across the house from where the router is located. Using a cheap WiFi dongle, I have been able to use the shack PC to access the Internet. Recently, I acquired a Flex-Radio Systems software-defined radio that requires an Internet connection (preferably via an Ethernet cable). When I first set it up, I was able to plug the rig into my PC, which, in turn, was connected to WiFi via the dongle. Although it "worked" it was not an optimal configuration. By using this extender, I am able to provide the transceiver with a more reliable Internet connection. In short, it works GREAT, and the price at Best Buy was very reasonable. Setup was very simple and it also saved me from having to install a long run of CAT5 cable to the shack.
