The Linksys RE6500 range extender is also dependent from your router's wireless signal. To have a better coverage, it is best to place the wireless extender where it can get at least three (3) signal bars from the router.

The speed of the RE6500 extender would still be dependent on your main router and the number of wireless devices connected to the network. However, to fully maximize its potential, we recommend relocating it to an area which is getting at least 50% of your router's WiFi signal and is located midway between your router and the area without Wi-Fi.

If you don't need all the bells and whitsles, it's great. It met my particular need for an extender. Now I can control my digital mixer and have Wi-Fi on my phone or tablet, so I can also stream music using bluetooth.

Other than that, I got great coverage outside around the pool which is where I wanted it. After a couple of days, I noticed my internet connection kept breaking. When I unplugged the Linksys, the problem went away. Plugged it back up and the same thing happened over and over. So it now sits unplugged.

We are sorry to hear about your experience with the Linksys RE6500. The intermittent wireless connection could be due to wireless interference. We advise that you adjust the router and the extender's wireless settings to improve the connection. Use fixed channels instead of Auto. Also, try to minimize physical obstruction and place the extender midway between the router and the remote wireless devices so that the extender will get at least 50% of the router's wireless signal.
