We are sorry to hear about the inconvenience you have experienced in setting up the wireless extender. You may want to adjust the router's wireless settings to improve its connection to the extender. Place the extender halfway between the router and the remote wireless devices and minimize physical obstruction. This article may also help:

I kept getting disconnection errors and lagging while watching shows and using the wifi for other things like connecting it to my laptop. This range extender eliminates that issue and was worth the money.

Distance from the router and signal obstructions could cause the RE6500 to lose its connection from the router. To isolate, try to relocate the range extender and avoid placing the device near other electronics that may cause signal interference.
