Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.If you have a large home and need a router to reach all of the corners, then this is the router for you. But that's all I will recommend when it comes to this router. I have purchased two of these (I have a large home, so one to use as normal and one to use as an extender). Right off of the bat I was having issues. Wireless devices will randomly have connection issues. If you want to change the password to your WiFi network then good luck. The router will let you change it, but most devices will have a difficult time connecting back to the router for some reason. I have stayed up to date on the most recent firmware updates, i've done multiple factory resets, but I always end up having wireless connection issues even when I have the routers on different ends of the spectrum by changing the wireless channels. I had high hopes for the router...especially since I spent a combined amount of $500 for them. I am going to sell them back and get a cheaper router that actually works. Avoid this router at all costs.

The time you spent in writing this review is valuable to us. We understand you are having challenge with the wireless connection inspite the fact that it has an updated firmware, multiple resets, and adjusting the wireless channel. This shouldn't be experienced with the router and allow us to look into this challenge.
As for changing the wireless password, you may need to remove the saved network from the devices before it can connect again to the network. Is the router running on version 1.0.0.169041? If the reset was performed through the Linksys Smart Wi-Fi app, then we suggest doing it through the physical Reset button this time.

I reset the router got all my settings in and nothing would connect to the 2ghz ssid. Anything on the 5ghz band would only get 50% of my ISPs bandwidth. The Asus router I was comparing I this to works much better

Not all that I hoped for

While it does, I find that it is not as reliable as the 2 GHz frequency and our smartphones seem to prefer the 2 GHz. So, while this works, it does not live up to what I had hoped for.

The story you've shared sounds odd since the 5 GHz frequency band is expected to deliver faster speed than the 2.4 GHz. Allow us to make this right for you. If you haven't tried tweaking the channels yet, we suggest to try channels 36, 40, 44 and 48 for the 5 GHz wireless network. It is also recommended to keep your router's firmware up-to-date. good router if you get version 2

Version 2 has 1.6 ghz processor with 512 mb of ram. If you want a better router than this, get the ea8500, and it's a few dollars cheaper than this one, with mu-mimo amd 1.4 ghz processor and 512 mb of ram.

Avoid this unit (and the 1900AC as well)

About every hour, the unit would lose internet connectivity, which would only be restored with a manual reboot (power or software). I hit the Linksys forums, and looks like this is an ongoing problem for many users, including those with the WRT1900AC model as well. Returned the unit to Best Buy.

But Router intermittently drops wireless network in/out. All devices will need to scan/reconnect after a minute or two. I looked in Linksys forum for a solution - seems to be issue others have had, but no solution. Find another brand.
