|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Great looking Linksys Wi-Fi Router that was easy to set up with existing Comcast Xfinity Modem. I originally was using a normal plug in Wi-Fi extender along with the Comcast Modem and it was doing a pretty good job. Once I connected the Linksys Router and added the separate Velop Mesh in same position as previous Wi-Fi extender between my bedroom and living room, I did not experience any noticeable difference in speed from when I had Comcast Modem and plug in Wi-Fi- extender. I live in small 2 bedroom Condo and was hoping to an increase for my mostly streaming service of Netflix, Sling TV but I guess it may be the best speed I can get. I will give it some time to see if there are any distinct improvements in speed. I created online Linksys account from computer and Android phone to keep track and monitor tools and settings of Wi-Fi connection which is very nice to have. Overall the Linksys Max Stream Wi-Fi Router and extra Velop Mesh is doing the job and keeping me connected and streaming in 4K as needed.

SUPER easy setup. Good coverage.
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've owned many Linksys products in the past and they have all been fairly easy to set up, but this MR8300 was quite the breeze. Rather than having to set it up using a hardwire connection, you'll use a Linksys app on your phone and the setup took a matter of about 5 minutes, mostly just the start up time of the different pieces of hardware. Even though this is a more traditional looking router with external antennas, ethernet ports on the back as well as a USB 3.0 port for attaching things like a hard drive for shared storage, it does also offer mesh technology which allows your wifi signal to be extended for broader coverage. Again, setup of the additional node was dirt-simple using the app and I was able to get a strong wifi signal across my 2400 square foot, 3 story house, which is very compartmentalized, meaning that my house is split up into a lot of different sections separated by walls and even in my basement that did not have a node, I still had a strong signal.

The Linksys MR8300 is a dedicated router which can be paired up to an existing modem or router to increase your Wi-Fi range and take advantage of its features. As you mentioned, it cannot be used as a modem.

If you can't access internet connection behind the Linksys MR8300, wired and wireless, then try power cycling it. Also, try bypassing router and check the connection behind the modem.
