The MR8300 Max Stream™ AC2200 is a high-performance Tri-Band router. Perfect for households that thrive on entertainment, it delivers up to 2.2 Gbps of superior speed throughout your entire home. The Tri-Band and MU-MIMO technology make it ideal for simultaneous streaming of HD movies, online gaming, video calling and supporting all of your smart home devices. MR8300 also grows as your needs do. With its built-in mesh Wi-Fi, instead of investing in a new router, you can expand coverage by simply adding Linksys Velop™ Mesh Wi-Fi nodes for seamless Wi-Fi everywhere.
The MR8300 serves as the master router and must connect directly to your modem to create your network. Sets up in minutes with the Linksys app.
A: The third band is a separate 5GHz band for backhaul. It is what the "mesh" runs on between nodes and is not configurable. Its there, just facilitating your network connection between nodes.
Q: Looks like the USB Port does not work? Is anyone experiencing the same issue?
A: I was told that the USB port is non operational at this time, but they plan to activate it in a future firmware release! They did not provide a timeline.
A: Hi! Yes, this is compatible with all the Velop products, but this must be the primary node while the Velop nodes are configured as secondary nodes.
Q: Will this work with CenturyLink? I didn't see anything on this
A: It will work with any internet provider as this is a router, not a modem. Your internet provider can provide the modem, or compatible modems you can purchase, in which you can connect to this WiFi router for expanded connectivity.
A: Hi. The Linksys MR8300 can cover up to 2000 sq. ft.
A: I have a nest camera in my garage which is about 125’ from the router and it works great don’t have issues with it. Just make a priority device in settings and it will get the best signal accordingly
A: Hi, Sammy. The model number of this router is MR8300. If you want to add more nodes, you can use either of the following: Velop Dual Band (Model WHW01) --- https://www.linksys.com/us/p/P-WHW0103/ Velop Tri-Band (Model WHW03) --- https://www.linksys.com/us/p/P-WHW0303/
A: My TP Link extender worked with this Linksys, but didn’t produce the desired signal strength, partially due to my modem located on one end of a two level home. When using an extender the signal is reduced unlike adding a mesh node. I liked this router but due to my modem placement, ultimately returned this router and dropped the money on the Velop Tri Band 3-pack which is working well n my house.
