Bought this at Best Buy and set it up for home/office use. Excellent, easy instructions. The speed is amazing. All the lagging is gone, especially with streaming on our TV. My wife is a happy camper now, and I'm able to get my work done much more quickly. Highly recommended.

Linksys finally bridges the gap of Mesh and Router

Ive had a Velop-based Mesh wifi system in my approx. 2500sqft house since they entered the market a few years ago. The tri-band Mesh covers my house with ubiquitous wifi and high speed networking! My only unfulfilled desire was the lack of ethernet ports and traditional router configurability in the original Velop system. Enter the MR8300 - Not only does it provide a nice central base station in a traditional router format, with 4 Ethernet switching ports and USB 3.0 expansion for storage, but it also fully integrates into the Velop system. so that I can still leverage my existing investments in Velop nodes in full tri-band glory... The router comes with everything you need I you don't already have a Velop mesh system - The base station itself gets pretty good coverage in a mid-side home (~2500sqft) and a Velop wall-plug node was included in the box as a bonus! This is a way better setup than most WiFi repeaters, but I couldn't help wonder why only a dual-band velour node was included - This was the first time I'd seen one of their wall-outlet nodes in Dual band. Previously my only exposure to their plug-in nodes was of the tri-band variety - It should still suffice for most home Internet plans and house sizes. For the ultimate network, one can add any number of Velop nodes to customize their wifi coverage for their home's unique needs. This is the ultimate wifi mesh system and now the base station can work as all other home routers do so there's literally no sacrifice. Linksys really nailed it with this one.

Fantastic router! I'm getting great speeds, fantastic stability, and great connections on all four of my devices, even though the signal is 15 feet away and has to come through four different walls. That puts the effective range of the router well above 1,200 sq feet. And I bet it would even do good at 2,400 sq feet. (28 feet away). It was a little weird to have to control the router through an app on my phone rather than by using a 192.168.0.1 web page, but I suppose that's the way the world is going these days. Great router. Very satisfied with this purchase!

Easy to set up out of the box even for a wanna be tech savvy mom. You just have to want to do it and follow instructions. The WPS button on the side made it easy to connect the wireless printer. Service is now faster than ever and no buffering

I received the Linksys - MR8300 Wi-Fi mesh router to help with dead spots in my house. My house is a ranch style 2200 square foot home. In the box is the router with four antennas, a power supply and a cat6 patch cable. I also received a separate Mesh Velop Node to extend the coverage. Set up was quick and easy. Following the included instructions was straight forward. Once you physically set up the router, then the instructions have you download the Linksys app for IPhone and Android phone to complete the setup. I can’t express how easy the setup was. Once the router set up was completed it was on to the Velop Node to extend the Wi-Fi reach in the rest of the house. Again following the prompts on the IPhone app to setup the Node was extremely easy! Now for the real stuff, how does it work? With just the router online, the Wi-Fi coverage was fast and covered nearly my whole house. Adding the Node extended the coverage to the garage and beyond into the front and back yard with a strong signal. Being a gigabit unit, any device that is able to process at gigabit speed and is connected directly to the router, move very fast and Wi-Fi speed is extremely fast and doesn’t lag with multiple users on line at once. This is far and above the best Modem / Router that I have ever used and highly recommend it to add whole house coverage.

As a person with a pre-existing 6-node VELOP network who was hesitant to replace the main node which is "working", I decided to set up a second 2-node network with this newer system. The result: First, I speed tested the desktop on a wired connection (100Mb/s service) and I was only getting about 9Mb/s and thought "this is NOT good". However, I recalled I had a wireless AC USB thing in the USB port so I decided to give WiFi connection a test in fairness, and wow -- I got nearly the full 100Mb/sec connection speed (and this is the third or fourth layer of, in this case, DHCP, "firewalling" between the internet connection and this router's wifi). Also noting, it detected I had plugged it into a common internal network numbering system, and was smart enough to pick (on its own) a NEW subnet address system for its network rather than the standard 192.168.1.xxx. If I were dreaming of a feature request, since this is a subnet within the house net, I would REALLY like it if it could (on the router) do VPN connections. I do understand the in some way VPN is 'less private' because you are identifying yourself, usually verified by credit card number, for traffic - but a level of security OVER THE INTERNAL network would be nice because i do not trust that all the IoT devices on the MAIN network should have (if hacked) access to this network.

Massive improvement over my old router

Over the past few months I had been struggling as my wifi speeds got slower and slower as more devices were added to my home network, which was utilizing 1, and then added a second 450N wifi routers. I researched mesh systems, but the relatively small footprint of my house made that not totally necessary. I like that it does have the option to utilize extenders with the tri-band later. That said, this brought me back from crippling slowness to full function on several of my devices, and can actually fully use them at the same time. Before we couldn't have one person on facetime, and another streaming a show on the xbox. Setup was super simple, and so far couldn't be happier. Can't wait for fiber to come into my neighborhood so I can fully utilize the potential speed this offers.

Great Addition to Existing Velop System

Overall, this router has served the purpose of taking the stress off one of my existing nodes in the house. It sends out a strong signal, adds extra Ethernet ports in the central location where this was added, and works well with the Velop system. The bad. It was really difficult to set up with the existing system through the app. The best thing to do is to reset the entire network (hold down reset button on nodes) then start with the router setup and add nodes afterward. The first day most of the devices had trouble connecting, but after resetting everything one more time, I have not had any issues. After setup, this device does exactly what it is supposed to do. Thoroughly enjoying this and having the extra range.

The MR8300 Max Stream is a really nice Wi-Fi Router, the one thing that really stood out to me was the step by step setup process you complete within the app. This could make it easier for those who might feel a little uncomfortable configuring or adding a device. There is quite a few things you can manage from the app itself, you can even monitor device on your network, while you're not home, and get notifications if one of your nodes goes down. The options to set 3 priority devices is good for those who may want to ensure a good gaming or streaming experience. I did also set up a node in the master bedroom, when setting it up, the app/device placement was tested and given the thumbs up, but devices in my house don't like to jump on it with an exceptions of one or two devices. Network devices on that side of the house still prefer the Wi-Fi router itself. I will likely find another location to place it, I did enjoy the ease of installation for this also. Overall this is a great Wireless Router, lots of features at the touch of your phone and easy expand-ability with the nodes you can add by simply plugging them into power. With a little thought you can create a strong mesh network throughout your home!

The Linksys - MR8300 Max Stream™ AC2200 Tri-Band Mesh Wi-Fi Router - Black is a top of the line router. The Linksys app is required for operating and maintaining the functions of the Linksys - MR8300 Max Stream™ AC2200 Tri-Band Mesh Wi-Fi Router. I downloaded it from the Google Play store. Once inside the apps settings, adjustments can be made to your specific Wi-Fi needs. Within 15 minutes, the Linksys - MR8300 Max Stream™ AC2200 Tri-Band Mesh Wi-Fi Router was up and running and working very well. My apartment is in a pre-war building with thick cement walls that have always impeded the strength and distance of any router that I used. The Linksys - MR8300 Max Stream™ AC2200 Tri-Band Mesh Wi-Fi Router only lost one Wi-Fi bar on my devices, when I went the furthest distance in my apartment from it. It has increased the connectivity amongst all of my Wi-Fi devices. I have no disappointment from using this dynamo router.

    So Far, So Good

This router replaced a Netgear Nighthawk with two DSTs (Dead Spot Terminators). The difference so far has been incredible. The mesh network seamlessly switches between the router and the VLOP Nodes effortlessly and without lag. Only having one WiFi SSID instead of different ones for 5-G and each DST makes it much more simplistic. Simplicity is key when dealing with the phone app and setup as well. It's a clean looking interface on both accounts, however, for the expert, there might be a few features lacking. For example, living in an urban area I wanted to turn off my WiFi Broadcast, so my WiFi wasn't seen by everyone. I have yet to find this feature. But I can attest that this router can keep up with the constant traffic of our household. We have multiple game systems, Roku, Nest Products and cell phones on the system at one time. With upwards of 50+ devices being connected at one time, our 4K movies are still streaming perfectly.

Just recently purchased the Linksys AC2200 router. Setup was a breeze! Installed the linksys app, plugged in the router, let the app do its thing and followed the prompts. So much easier than past linksys product setups. Been using the router for about a week on a 1gps fiber connection with an average of 10 devices connect at any given moment. Two devices are HD gaming consoles, which are used at the time. And performance seams to be great when watching HD movies and playing online games at the same time.

I use this along with some of Linksys's Velop Tri-Band nodes. It takes a little patience to get everything to talk to each other, but the process is simplified with the Linksys mobile app (using bluetooth) to get everything running and configured. Linksys also has extremely generous tech support hours in case you get stuck, as well as a wealth of information in their forums. The MR-8300 has pretty good Wifi speeds, which should be sufficient for most users, but it doesn't set any speed records. Don't get me wrong, it's definitely not slow, but your results may vary depending on how far away you are from the router in a non-mesh setup. Add in some Velop nodes (optional) and turn your Wifi dead zones into full Wifi strength zones with even further coverage for a large household. It can handle whatever you throw at it, even with a Gigabit internet connection.
