    Works/Easy setup/ Not capable of 1k speeds?

This review is in 2 categories... Ease of setup 5 stars 1k speeds 1 star For a 3/5 stars. I have a 1k fios gigabit internet package. My old router and the Verizon router gave all devices connected via ethernet 980/980 speeds. Around 560/560 mbps when all the devices in the house were on. With my wifi speeds upstairs being horrible at about 35mbps, but still more than functional for what it was doing. After my old secondary router started having issues I bought the Linksys ac2200 as it supposedly can handle 1k speeds and help extend your wifi. It was extremely easy to setup, it found all of my devices, updated it's firmware easily and quickly. And had no issues setting up it's wifi mesh. However after 6 months it has never tested anywhere near my 1k speeds. I think it's best test was 480/200 mbps. Devices hooked up to my Verizon router get the 980/980 mbps. All of the devices hooked up to my Linksys Ac2200 test very slow, averaging about 176/125 for devices connected via ethernet! The wifi is about 75mbps. The linksys app is the only thing claiming the linksys Ac2200 router is getting decent speeds, sometimes claiming 500/920mbps. But no other speed test from any test I've tried, from various sites shows anything similar to the linksys app. Also I found out the wifi mesh was interfering with my antenna making me lose most of the channels I got. I bought an amplified antenna and it boost my over the air channels to 27 with crystal clear pictures. My linksys Ac2200 router is still getting horrible test speeds. I honestly believe this router is either not compatible with my Verizon router or is just not capable to actually receive 1k speeds. I think it would be fine for anyone who gets 300/300mbps, but nothing more.

      Hi, qwerty,

The Linksys MR8300 LAN ports should be able to deliver Gigabit and up to 2.2 Gbps for its wireless network. For isolation, we can try changing or swapping out the Ethernet cable between your main router and the Linksys router. Also, make sure to frequently update its firmware since can usually fix some issues.

Paired with my Netgear modem, this router performs fairly well, but on the odd occasion, loses connection as the solid blue light turns red and then blinks blue to reestablish connection. This event is random time wise but typically lasts up to a minute. Other than this minor gripe, the Modem has performed well and the Linksys app on my Note9 has provided me plenty of tweaking possibilities, but without an in depth knowledge of what a change would do, I leave it alone.

      Hi,

Dropping connections from the router may possibly be caused by factors such as outdated firmware, or the connection from the source. Updating the firmware of the device will help optimize its performance.

I needed to replace an old outdated router saw this on sale and read previous reviews. Looked like it would be perfect for my home. I have only had it about a week but I have had zero problems. It covers all the house and the patio. No dead zones. I also like the fact that I could add nodes and mesh them in if I need to expand coverage. This is a great router and I would recommend this to everyone.

    Quick Install and Good Signal

Recently purchased for $150 plus tax. Paired with an Arris Modem. The Linksys app was simple and allowed my internet provider to set up the new modem first, then continued with Router setup. Has good connection through my 2500 sq ft house with router in central location. Allows for setting priority devices, device time limits, and website restrictions. The future mesh ability is also nice if needed.

We had trouble with our previous Netgear router. Connection was great downstairs when you were right by the router, but once upstairs the router didn’t seem to do it’s job. Not even after we purchased a Netgear WiFi extender either. So far our WiFi has been at full connection even at the furthest point from the router. Great for online students and streaming.

We splurged in getting this router due to horrible coverage and experience with our one provided by the internet provider. We love this one! We have whole home coverage, 2000 sq ft, including upstairs. And, our son is not hollering about the wifi being glitchy anymore. I would definitely recommend this router.

I recommend buying this router if you have a number of wifi devices in your home (e.g. cell phones, smart tvs, google/alexa speakers, cameras, bulbs, and streaming devices - apply tv, firestick, etc.) and you're losing signal strength. I consistently receive 3 bars. Now I get 5 throughout the house. Easy set up...under 15 mins tops.

The thing works great once it's working. I've nerver had a faster router. You get that from the moment you connect to the wifi. But being a mid-advance user, the allegedly "simplicity" of the app and the "configuration" was just frustrating. The instructions are not clear enough and doing something slightly different than the default may be a pain. But once you get that soerted, is amazing!

Unfortunately I cannot give neither a positive or negative review at this time. However I am bound to submit my views, so this is a good looking unit which if it lives up to expectations will provide an excellent solution to home networking needs. I will of course modify and hopefully give a fuller review once a replacement has been shipped and I do my usual due diligence then review further. I have no doubt that LINKSYS will live up it's reputation and high standards.

I have only had this Linksys router for a few days. It was replacing a router that was at least ten years old. It was very easy to set up using the app. and no problem connecting to all my devices. My house is about 2400 sq feet and the wi fi signal is excellent everywhere without having to add any mesh nodes.

I have only had this router about a week. I had a net-gear that only lasted a few years and so I decided to change to the Linksys. Coverage is good, seems stable. The app is easy to use. We are currently connecting about 15 devices between phones, tablets, TVs and computers its definitely getting tested on a daily basis.
