The setup requires an app on a smartphone.

I attempted to set it up by logging in like every router I have ever owned and it failed big time. I am returning this for one that does not require an app to set up. I did attempt several times to do the set up, but no dice. If Best Buy wants to contact me about this before you need to email me right away.

You should have an option to skip the setup on the app. You just need to login to the router using a web-browser. Though it will recommend that you use the Linksys app for setup, there should be an option to proceed to the user interface of the router.

I've been using computers 40 years and this is not rocket science. Using a 20 year old router to have internet to write this review that I created an account for. Do not buy this.

I will be returning it.
