My old wireless router was dying and the only other brand I had owned was Linksys. I also had a dead spot that now needed coverage. With Mesh technology I am now able to reach that spot. In addition, the Linksys software interface is MUCH improved since I last owned one. Even those who know nothing about router setup can safely setup one! Do your research and check reviews about competing brands.

Got this at 50% off on Black Friday sale. Set up was so fast!! Five minutes to swap out my old short range and speed router. kept my same wifi name and passcode so that I didn't have to reconnect everything (cell phone, computers, 2 tv's, security camera, BBQ. etc.)

Finally a true home router that supports mesh

I'm a big fan of Linksys but I've been avoiding the mesh wifi systems for a while now due to the lack of ability to do any true advanced configuration and hardware limitations. They are typically dumbed down and don't allow a lot of manual configuration. Also they didn't typically have any extra storage ports or extra ethernet connections for hard wiring multiple devices. So when I saw that Linksys was going to release a true home router that also supported mesh I was all in. Lets get to the pros: Great area coverage for both 2.4 and 5 GHz. Has external antennas. Great wifi speeds. Supports Velop mesh nodes. I found it very easy to add an additional node after setting up router. Can use the mobile app to configure OR you can log into the router yourself and manually configure which in my opinion is the best way of doing. Nice size. Not too big like some and looks nice on my shelf. 4 ethernet ports and they are all gigabit. 1 usb3 interface. Updates firmware automatically which is a nice feature to have. And now the cons: You cannot manually configure the which channel to use for both 2.4 and 5 GHz. The app can scan and change if it feels its needs to due to interference but there is no way of manually telling it which channels to use. The firmware doesn't allow this like it did on previous Linksys routers. You cannot disable specific frequencies. For example if I wanted to disable 2.4 all together or maybe just disable wireless G so it only uses N I cannot do this. Firmware doesn't allow this. It has a usb3 port on the back but as of the time of writing this there is no way to use it. The firmware doesn't allow it. I'm assuming there will be a firmware update in the near future that will allow us to use this hardware? After manually configuring, locking down, and rebooting the router via the web interface the purple light on the router is still light up. Manual says that means it not setup. Supposed to be blue once its has internet and is configured. Guess this is a firmware bug? I have a LOT of devices connected to this thing and I've been throwing a LOT at. 4k streaming, gaming, mobile devices, Desktops, laptops, robot vacuums, smart home devices, etc. It hasn't failed me at all so looks to be very solid in terms of stability. As for speed I've been running some tests on different devices and I'm seeing great speeds for both single band and dual band devices on both frequencies. I'm hoping Linksys fixes the issues stated above with firmware updates but in the end this thing does its main job very well. It has officially replaced my older Linksys AC router as my main home device.

My previous netgear AC 1750 nighthawk died after three years or more of use. I got this fine solid piece of machinery when it was on sale. I am glad I bought it. It is smaller than my previous nighthawk but with greater power with reaching my 1/2 acre property. I have thick walls made of plaster in my house and still get good bandwith on the 2.4ghz.
