The distance between the two structures is only about 20 feet, but the signal strength has not improved very much despite moving the extender around to different locations. May need to return it and try something else.

In setting up the device, you need to make sure that you get at least 50% of the router's wireless signal and it should be located midway between your router and the area without Wi-Fi.
