This is totally unexpected! Your devices should work fine on the 5.0 GHz band as long as they get at least 3 signal bars. The actual range will depend on your network environment. If there physical obstructions and wireless interference around, the coverage may be shorter. Proper antenna positioning might somehow improve the range. If you have a single story home, both antennas should be pointing up for the RE6300 v2. For multi-story homes, one antenna should be pointing up while the other antenna can be tilted at 45° to get some polarization diversity.

Solved My WiFi Dead Zone Problem

The Linksys Range Extender did the job after excellent coaching and troubleshooting from Linksys Customer Service.
