I even put the unit in the hallway 15 ft from the modem/router and about the same distance line of sight from the 2 yr old Lenovo laptop. Nope! Went through all the troubleshooting stuff. Three times! Piece of junk. Couldn't return it to Best Buy because the one-week return period had expired...by two days! What, am I supposed to move next to a Best Buy so I can return their crummy electronics within a week?! Save your money. Go move next to a Spectrum tower if you want wi-fi !

If placed too far from an existing router, the range extender may not expand Wi-Fi or Wi-Fi could be spotty. Use the Spot Finder feature of the RE6300. It automatically finds the best place for the extender based on the signal behavior and capacity of your router. I tried to return it to get another brand and because i did not return it within 15 days, I lost my money. I missed the deadline by one day. Buyers be aware. Even the customer service rep informed me that this device is not good. :(
