The range extender should boost the Wi-Fi signal of your current network. In order to maximize the unit's full potential, it would help if you place it where it's getting at least 50% of your router’s Wi-Fi signal and is located midway between your router and the area without Wi-Fi. Also, it features a Spot Finder Technology which will help you determine if it's in the right location.

If placed too far from the router, a range extender may not expand Wi-Fi or Wi-Fi could be spotty. You can use the Spot Finder Technology to ensure that the range extender is in the right spot. Doesn’t work if you are trying to repeat a strong Signal to a different floor. Really only works in the ideal situation: when the router isn’t far from yiur desk to begin with.

The Linksys RE6300 supports Wi-Fi range up to 6,500 sq. ft. However, we must always consider the physical obstruction that may cause of any issue. Make sure to that your range extender is getting at least 50% of your router’s Wi-Fi signal and is located midway between your router and the area without Wi-Fi.
