If the power goes up and your hot spot starts first, the extender has a hard time connecting. Don’t plan on buying this item again.

It consistently drops the 5G and I have to reboot the device so it will pick it up again. I have another, different brand extender that works effectively.

We must make sure that your extender should get at least 50% of the connection from your router. If you're having an issue setting up the Linksys RE6300, then you may try resetting it and do the congfigurations. Please know that there's no need for an installation software or setup CD. Make sure that the Linksys RE6300 should be plugged into a power outlet. Wait until the light is blinking orange before starting the setup process. You may then connect your computer or a mobile device to the range extender's default SSID, which is Linksys Extender Setup – xxx (The xxx represents the last three characters of the Linksys RE6300’s MAC address), and open a web browser, then enter "http://extender.linksys.com" or "192.168.1.1" in the Address bar. You may then follow the on-screen instructions.
