Wireless Range Extender, broken!

I have a PC that only has an Ethernet port, no wireless capability. But you cannot turn off both the rebroadcasting wireless bands. Why not??? You can turn off either the 2.4G or 5G but not both. So in order to use this one band is rebroadcasting, which I don’t need or want. I wanted this device to connect to existing wireless network and to provide Ethernet access WITHOUT rebroadcasting my wireless network. Returning this device. NOT recommended!

If you're having an issue setting up the Linksys RE6300, then you may try resetting it and do the congfigurations. Please know that there's no need for an installation software or setup CD. Make sure that the Linksys RE6300 should be plugged into a power outlet. Wait until the light is blinking orange before starting the setup process. You may then connect your computer or a mobile device to the range extender's default SSID, which is Linksys Extender Setup – xxx (The xxx represents the last three characters of the Linksys RE6300’s MAC address), and open a web browser, then enter "http://extender.linksys.com" or "192.168.1.1" in the Address bar. You may then follow the on-screen instructions. If the power goes up and your hot spot starts first, the extender has a hard time connecting. Don’t plan on buying this item again.

We appreciate your feedback. To maximize the range of the device, we recommend that you place the range extender between the main router and the location where you want the Wi-Fi to be extended. It is best if the range extender has a direct line of sight to the main router to get a stable connection.

If properly positioned, the RE6300 Extender is capable of boosting the range of your Wi-Fi network to your entire home.
