How far is it from the router? To maximize the use of the range extender, we'd suggest doing the following:
* Use a wireless-AC router/access point to fully utilize their capability.
* Place the range extender in an area where you are getting a strong wireless signal from the router.
* It is recommended to use WPA2/WPA Mixed Mode wireless security on your router and range extender.
* Update or re-flash the firmware.

There's a lot to be considered in setting up the range extender including distance and location, physical obstructions, and interference. However, making sure that there is a clear line of sight between the range extender and router and using the Spot Finder feature of the range extender would help.
