You have to switch to the extender-network for it to work in area that has a weak signal. Thought it would just extend my network, which is not the case. Been a Linksys person for over 25 years. It has poor range, poor consistency, and every once in awhile I do happen to get connection, the speeds I'm getting is abysmal. I went from 120 mb/s to 8. Took around 10 times to try connecting to the router as well. I've never seen such a useless product and baffled that best buy is even selling this garbage. Save yourself the trouble and headache and spend $60 more and get a Nest.
