The range extender should have provided extra range for your Wi-Fi network. It is possible that the extender is too far from your main router, that's why you are not getting a steady bandwidth from your internet.

Wasn’t impressed!

Installation is also not very user friendly. After successfully connected to my cable modem the Signal keeps dropping out ocasionally. Not very reliable. My kids kept complaining that their phone data was used up quickly because of the WiFi drop out. Will not recommend the product to any I know.

This is a very unusual behavior for the range extender. There is a possibility that interference between your main router and the range extender is what's causing the intermittent signal. With a few adjustments on the router and the extender, you should be able to achieve the performance that you are expecting.

I don’t have a large house, but I apparently have a dead spot in one room. The WiFi extender would not connect with the button on the side, I had to use the web page to get it to connect. Even when I managed to get it connected, it never had a good signal. The light on the front was always yellow(amber) which indicates a poor connection. Buy at your own risk.

The Linksys RE6300 will allow you to extend the range of your router’s wireless connection. However, we must consider obstructions that may cause connection issues. Please make sure that the extender is getting atleast 50 percent of the connection from the router on the area where it was placed. We also recommend to power cycle it, and update us over email on how it goes at [email protected] with your contact information, so we can have you assisted by our Escalation Engineers. No More Dead Spots
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.There are a couple ways to setup the wireless range extender, Browser-based, using wifi or ethernet. The other way is using WPS. The instructions are included in the box and its very easy to setup. I went with the Ethernet cable, I plugged a CAT5 into the range extender and the other end into my computer to set it up. Like i said it was very easy, I just went to 192.168.1.1 and followed the instructions. Once I had it configured I placed it in my garage, I then went to the back of my house where I could never get a 5ghz wifi connection and I was able to get 85mbps download and 25mbps upload. I was shocked that I went from not being able to see my 5ghz network to those speeds. I also went to my mailbox and was able to stay connected to the 5ghz network and still reach speeds of 50/20. So pretty much any where in my yard I can have a connection, not to mention walk down the street and still have a connection. I had no issues streaming music, or watching youtube on any of the 2.4 or 5 ghz networks. The range extender is easy to setup and use. I no longer have to worry about dead spots in my house. I did receive this as a free sample from Linksys in exchange for your honest feedback.

Not a good investment

After about a year, the 2.4GHz channel did not work, so I worked around that. And then just this month (it was two years since I purchased it in May 2022) it got to be inconsistently working. Luckily I had purchased a more powerful main wifi router so I did not really depend on this any more. This week I am bringing it in to Best Buy to be recycled. :(
