Most routers may be already set up to receive the extender, however.

Didn't work for me !

We put this at the far end of the house so we could have service when we were in the yard and when I am on zoom meetings in a part of the house far away from the router.

I was using the powerline once. but they don't work if the electrical line is not direct (meaning it goes via circuit breakers). This extender works really well. Even though it is placed on the opposite corner (not recommended), I still don't have any issues.

I got it to bridge the gap of having a weaker spot in my upstairs room above our garage which we run a lot of media in. It extends the internet ok....but it's still not as strong as I had hoped for. I never could get the little light to turn green....it's stuck in amber. So we left it alone.

This Linksys Boost Range Extender was recommended by one of my students. I'm happy to say that this improved my signal strength, but not as much as I had hoped.
