Difficult to install and doesn't perform optimally

Posted .Hi, HarlanW,
There's a possibility that interference in your area is affecting the connection of the 2.4 GHz network with the RE7000. Also, the unit should be able to recognize the 5 GHz network of your Fios router during the setup process. Please email us your contact information at LinksysCares@linksys.com so we can get you over to our Escalation Engineers. They'll check the range extender and help you get it to work on its full potential. Indicate the link to this review for our reference.

Posted .Hi, Grg3090,
Make sure to place the Linksys RE7000 in between the router and the area without internet access. Ensure as well that upon placing it to your desired area, the extender must get at least 50% connection from your router. You may try moving it closer to your router and update us over email at LinksysCares@linksys.com with your contact info and the link of this review, for our reference.

Extension no good

Posted .Hi, Annette,
The Linksys RE7000 Range Extender should provide up to 2500 sq ft of WiFi coverage, and WiFi speeds up to 300(2.4GHz) + 1733(5GHz) Mbps. For isolation, you can try to relocate the extender and update the firmware to optimize the device.
However, allow us to investigate your device further, feel free to reach out to us at LinksysCares@linksys.com with the link to this review for our reference.

Careful
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I guess it may depend where you live but I have horrible Wi-Fi in my connection house from Cox so I purchased this and there was absolutely no change at all. :( I can't recommend this item but it has worked for others. I can't say how well it does or does not work and rating quality or value would be unfair.

Quick and easy fix for dead spots
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a neat little toy. Setup: setup was a breeze. Plug in and three taps later the thing was setup. In use: this thing fades into the background which is exactly what it should do. I have no idea when i switch from the signal coming from the router or the signal from the range extender. It covers dead spots well and speeds are fast. Overall a great product and a great fix to extend coverage to dead spots.

Drops connection frequently
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I set up my extender with the Linksys ACS5400. I wasn't able to get it set up with the WPS, but I did connect to it wirelessly to set up. Set up was clean and easy through it's web page. I was able to add my 2.4G and my 5G networks and both guest networks to the extender. Connections are spotty. My son's room is the trouble area and he said that his phone would continuously go back to the router connections rather than the extender. The speed is fast, but I wouldn't connect a gaming system to it, or something that streams due to the connectivity dropping. It has a separate webpage from the router and once it was set up, I was unable to get back into the settings even when using the instruction manual.

||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Very difficult getting this product to connect to my modem. Once connected, it did not want to set up the 5G connection and speed tests showed a huge drop in download speeds. Gave it a couple days of troubleshooting and decided to take it back.

Decent Wi-Fi Extender
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Received the RE7000 today and promptly set it up. The setup was painless and the browser method walks you through the steps. It does offer WPS setup, but I do not use WPS in my home. I also do not have an MU-MIMO router so I am not sure how much difference it would make, but I am using a Nighthawk X6 and used the RE7000 to extend the 5GHz channel. At the extreme corner of my house I was getting ~65mbps download according to SpeedTest on a 300mbps line. With the RE7000 in operation it boosted to ~110mbps. Nearly double the speed for 3 minutes of my time setting it up. Overall, it is a decent piece of kit and does what it promises. Once I get a MU-MIMO router I will update this review with my findings.

A product that works - first time!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.OMG! - do you know how many of these things i've tried? No-names, Netgear, Tenda, both stand-alone and AC line extenders. Hours of frustration, poor directions, no web help - and then once you get it to finally work, a marginal improvement. So, my expectations were low for any difference with this product. I'm in a two story home, the router hookup is on the lower level in one corner of the house. Nothing I used could increase strength to the far corner of the house (about 60 foot) beyond one or two bars. I setup the unit midway, and used the WPS button to connect. Got the green light, good to go. If you are setting up both the 2.4 and 5 GH bands, you need to go through the WPS procedure twice as they are really separate devices (mac addresses). I then checked the laptop at the far end, and voila, 4 bars - success. However, it got better. While i had placed the unit in what i thought would be the optimal location, i used the spot finder app, and it suggested a move to an opposite wall, and i was soon working with a full 5 bars. Once you get setup, you can log into the unit, there are check boxes that allow you to change the extender's broadcast name (it's initially your router's name followed by _ext, which makes it a seamless connection. While the cost of this unit is in the upper range compared against similar products, the Linksys name, ease of setup, and spot finder app justify the price difference. It's a pleasure to be able to watch Netflix & Amazon video without breakup & endless buffering.

Nice easy to use unit
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Before beginning my review I thought I should mention that I received this unit in exchange for my using and honest review of it. Now with that out of the way Overall its a nice unit and I would recommend it as an option if looking for an extender... Pros: I initially used the WPS button(s) to install, which was pretty easily done. BUT I wasnt sure whether I had both 2.5 and 5 GHz wavebands setup - so I hardwired my laptop using ethernet cable and used the GUI internet interface. The interface is great and gives all kinds of different info - the best of which for me was a graphic that showed if the extender was to close, to far, or just right from the base - sweet! Also do yourself a favor and check for updates, as there was one when I setup the unit. Easy default naming convention as it takes whatever your network name is and adds a ".ext" as a suffix. You can keep as is or change it - once again easily done using internet GUI setup. You can also set password to be same/different from your original network as well. Unit is low profile so using it in a 2 plug outlet leaves room to actually use the other outlet. So it doesnt have a passthru plugin as some other units do. Speed of connection(s). My router is an Orbi RBR50 AC and the extender is about 50 ft away with signal going thru 4 walls. My laptop is windows 10 with Intel Centrino Advanced-N 6250. Using speedtest.net and connecting wirelessly using 5GHz 802.11n I went from download speeds of around 8.75 mbps to 120 mbps range. Cons; Ethernet cable connection is on the bottom, which makes it somewhat difficult to plug cable in. Price is a tad steep, given you could probably, for a few dollars more, get a AC router rather than just an extender

WiFi- Extender that works flawless!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was pretty impressed when Linksys RE7000 showed up in the mail I was ecstatic to try it out. I paired this WiFi range extender Linksys EA7500-AC1900 to see if the product delivered and it sure does once everything is setup right. Set up is extremely easy, If you have a smartphone you can use the app to set the WiFi range extender very quickly. There isn’t much to the WiFi extender itself just a plug to the wall, a WPS button on the side, a reset button, and a Ethernet port under the bottom which is useful. I tried everything with this extender such as a PS4, PS3, Xbox 360, 3DS, iPad, iPhone, Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge +, and Nvidia Shield Tablet (5.0 GHz runs flawless with gamestreaming.). Everything remain consistent and the extender didn’t let drop any connection. MU-MIMO technology seem to be in play here always keeping all of these devices at the same speed. One of the claims to this extender is that it boost WiFi-range up to 10,000 sq. ft. I was only able to test it out in a 2,300+ sq. ft home but it did work out perfectly and covered the area that would be considered “Dead spots.” To be honest I don’t know much about networking but I do know that this Linksys WiFi range extender works well for me. Definitely every claim it says it does it pretty much nails it. I have a few other Linksys products which have been working seamless and this little thing is a big compliment to those other products but need not worry. This works with all WiFi routers.

Didn’t extend anything
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I placed this in my din where Linksys said it was perfect according to the website. It got tested on their end and was good to go. But I’m still having trouble even loading a Netflix show on my tv. It takes about 3 minutes for it load, which was the same time before I purchased the extender.
